Marcos Rojo | Manchester United Player Pending Medical

I see alot of negativity. United fans have to be realistic. Of course there are better players than Rojo but you have no Champions League spot and are coming from an atypical year. Furthermore, most top european leagues are about to start. It´s harder to do deals now because of that timing. Rojo is an interesting option due to a number of reasons i´ve enumerated. The main one is obviously Van Gaal. He´s a world class manager with an extremely good track record in mentoring players. I personally think that he will be a very good influence on Rojo. If you are trying to buy him, it´s obviously Van Gaal´s choice. I´d be willing to bet that in one year most United fans will be pleased to have Rojo.

Ignore the muppets. They aren't happy unless we sign Vidal, Hummels, Messi and Ronaldo and have decided that because he is not one of those he would be a shit transfer. There is no way anyone writing him off has actually watched him enough to have a valid opinion. I'd be quite happy to get him in myself, from what you say and what I saw at the world cup,and for a decent fee.

Chielini
Mathieu

Can't think of any more that fit that very very specific criteria

It seems to be what we're looking for if this is true. We were after Vermealen previoulsy and now Rojo

I was interested if there was any truth to this after the Instagram thing started the rumours the other day as I was impressed with him at the WC. He's fast, athletic and can apparently play CB as well as LB, which is ideal in making him the alternative to Vermaelen.

Well this one has slipped under the radar, perhaps Vidal & Di Maria are on after all...

Pretty much followed the same path as Shaw and Herrera so I'd say you can expect a similar approach to all are transfer business this season. A brief report of Song potentially coming, maybe another signing out of the blue (don't take his time at Barcelona too seriously, he was excellent at Arsenal and would still improve us imo). I honestly don't think the media have a clue what's going on with anything Utd related.

wow color me unimpressed. Is he really better than say Evans, Blackett?

So he played every single game at centre back for Sporting? Like 100% of games?

No mate. He has played some games as LB mainly in the beggining of his Sporting career. He has been better as CB for us though. It all depends on the setup, systems and specially the quality of the players around him. It doesn´t surprise me that he has been decent as LB in the Argentina setup. The quality of their defence is much better than ours obviously.

Ah okay, thanks!

Going to reserve judgement on this, really don't know what to think of it.

What is that, about £11m. Seems a good price. I can't pretend I've seen much of him outside the WC though.

Think you need to check the exchange rate mate.

Never like to see players refuse to train with their current club, just looks unprofessional and gives a bad impression of their character.

LvG must have been impressed with him when the Dutch played Argentina in the World Cup, personally I thought Kuyt got the better of him for much of the 120 mins. I know he wasn't in his favourite position but still worrying.

We're really embracing our role as a non Champions League club by signing players that have never played a minute in the competition.

Yeah, I'd much rather someone who's played in the Champions League group stages than someone who just played in the World Cup final.

I am not going to fall for the Rojo or Blind are second tier players bullshit. EVERY top team has players that are not world class... Look at: Kolarov, Nasri, Gary Cahill, Salah, Dante, Rafinha, Pepe, Isco, Coentrao etc... If they can do a job and the manager feels that they would make the team stronger then they should be bought.

Of course, look around the market and see who is best value for the money. I'm sure LVG would LOVE to have Ronaldo, Reus and Messi but of course that is not an option.

for those think he is a left back, check out his performance against Porto, he was playing as a centre back and looked very good.

That was a league cup game mate. Was at the stadium. Him and Dier were flawless in that game.

Are you trying to say we're not signing Messi?

Reading the Sporting forum, most are sad that he may be going.

Right footer who has played LB on occasion. Would be a decent signing though IMO, could play in any of the 5 roles of the back 5.
Ohh yeah keep forgetting his right footed everytime I watch him his playing LB

It hasn't really gone too well for us with Argentines.

Veron - Flop
Heinze - cnut
Tevez - cnut

OK so a bit closer to £12m.

Wasn't there a lad released by Everton playing in the World Cup for Germany? Every squad has a few lads just making up the numbers.

Of course. He was good last year. He has some detractors in our forum (like Rooney has in yours) but the vast majority likes him. Our defence will miss him specially in the Champions League. We will miss his experience. Rojo has some flaws but in the big games he rarely goes missing. But we have to negotiate him. His contract is running out, we have a low percentage of his rights and we are not a club that "cuts players legs" when big clubs come with bids. It´s obviously is a step up to move to the Premier League and a club with United´s stature. He helped us get Champions League qualification after an atrocious season where we were 7th and we should be thankful for that (along with the 5 or 6 millions we will get for him due to our percentage).

Lol the funny thing is, a year ago James Rodriguez would have been a "meh" signing. This years top muppet transfer Vidal, if we got him before Juve, again everyone in here would be complaining why we are not signing a big name player.

I love these signing that I think are on the cusp of stardom.
