Marcos Rojo | Manchester United Player Pending Medical

How do you think Dier will do in England the coming season compared to Rojo?

I think Dier made the wrong move. With Rojo going, he would start for us and play the Champions League. If Ilori who was better than him couldn´t hold a place at Liverpool, i doubt he will start for Spurs also. He will probably play some games (mainly in the Cups) and that´s it.

Never like to see players refuse to train with their current club, just looks unprofessional and gives a bad impression of their character.
Well, if the club break their promise to let him go and he really wants to play for us I don't see the big problem. The club were unprofessional on their behalf too.

I suppose the one thing to take from this if true is the media reporting LVG wanted a left footed CB was obviously true.

The 'promise' was made by the old president. He can't just expect it with the new one because someone else 'agreed' to it.

A centerback that tries this in defense, must be very good with the ball on his feet. What does this mean for Blackett though? He did well at lcb during pre-season.

Apparently he was awful on loan last season - he still has loads to learn.

Well as long as he's not an injury prone defender I suppose I'll take him.

Rather him than Vermaelen.

Well he can have bad luck in a play but i wouldn´t worry about that. He´s not injury prone. He´s very strong physically. He has the physical tools for a demanding and long season of english football.

That's great news and good enough for me to be fair, our other 3 CBs are made of glass.

That doesn't really add up though, with people saying his clause is 15M too. They have to let him go if that's the case, right?

You clearly think the price is €20m but the general consensus now is that it's €15m. So about £12m is right.

Nah, that was a 'verbal agreement' Rojo had with the old president. His contractual release clause is still €30m.

That's insanely stupid, he better not pull that shit here.

His clause isn't €15m, it's still €30m as far as I know. The €15m was apparently just a 'verbal agreement' he had with the old president and because we've offered €20m he feels like that should still be honored.

Is he any good? Garay was the Argentinian defender who impressed me at the World Cup.

They were all Benfica players, not Sporting..

He´s off to my ignore list. That´s like confusing United with City  I´m just kidding mate, i know it was an honest mistake ;)

I only read that:

Wouldn't add up with us bidding 20M though, so you're probably right.

Edit: FFS, Tweet deleted, said that the former president edited the clause to 15M.

I've not seen a bad Argetinian defender...they are all well hard and brutal defenders.

I even watched Benfica play in the pre season competition against Arsenal and they looked poor, not sure how I managed to confuse the 2.

Kinda reminds me of Rafael, if he were taller.

Clear strengths - aggression in both boxes, heading ability, physically strong and fairly quick, very comfortable on the ball.

Clear weaknesses - positional awareness, showboating and a bit mental

You do deals like that at the beggining of the transfer window, not a few days before the league campaign start. Can't help to think the alternative options have failed. I expected that TBH. Can't wait to see him in action, I have no idea how good he is.

This is a good assessment minus the Rafael comparison. I can´t see similarities. I think Van Gaal will work on those cons though. He won´t put up with his disciplinary brain farts for sure. Rojo would be much better if he had some "Fergie hairdryer" incentives when he was 20/21.

I have to say, all the videos posted have done is made me rate him even less, now I see he's prone to doing silly things in defence. Hard to stay positive right now.

Kind of underwhelming.... Looked good at the World Cup but I never really paid attention to him before. Is he mainly a center back or fullback? Would he be better then one of our 3 defenders? An obvious positive would be that he stays fit and isn't injury prone, and is good on the ball.

Would be a good signing, I'd rather get him than Vermaelen or Blind.

He also has a good name.

He's mainly a centre back, didn't impress as a left back at Sporting but he was good there for Argentina. I'd say he's better than Jones personally, definitely isn't as good as Smalling or Evans though. His on the ball ability isn't exactly stand out but it's not bad either.

Apart from those two days early in the window, this window has been awful. Having only seen this guy at the world cup it's hard to judge but I wasn't overly impressed then. We need an experienced leader at the back, not another up and coming raw talent.

That's an understatement, it's been bloody awful. Just sign Benatia ffs.
