He would, though I'm not sure we should be limiting ourselves only to left footers. Evans has a great left foot and would be our best bet on that side IMO.

Evans doesn't have a great left foot. He is two footed and can do serviceable passing with his left, but clearly not comparable to what he can do with his right.

Yeah, and you'd want the best distributor in the center. Plus Evans is the slowest of this set and you don't want him pulled out wide as much as the others.

He'll just have to get little more aggressive and attack the ball more to play central. Otherwise that's the ideal role for him in this formation.
Don't know, you have a point regarding the pace, but I think his calmness on the ball and his distribution, even under pressure, puts him ahead of Jones and Smalling for the RCB-position. In the middle you expect more of a rock, a natural defender, that's how i see it at least.

I watched SCP quite abit last season to keep an eye on Carvalho and Rojo impressed me, would be very happy with this signng.

Admittedly, I haven't seen much of Rojo, but from what I have seen I haven't been overly impressed. Honestly, I believe the only reason we're interested is because he's left footed and maybe that he's a decent height (more Evans' height than Smalling's). It's very hard to hear that Chelsea are coming nearer to signing Benatia meanwhile we're trying to sign average defenders purely because the're left footers. I suppose he's better than nothing though, however I see no reason for us not signing Benatia honestly.

He'd cost twice as much and we need the money for Vidal, Di Maria and Cuadrado.
Right.

Ya, I think the central defender should be the defensive rock tbh, like Smalling against Liverpool. He had two options to give a simple pass to while it was Jones and Evans/Blackett's jobs to distribute the ball. That system looked very good to me tbh. If we sign Rojo, I'd imagine it will be:

Evans, Smalling, Rojo
Keane, Jones, Blackett

Right.

You think we're going to sign all of Vidal, Di Maria and Cuadrado? Or is that a joke, I can't really tell. Benatia may cost twice as much, but he's worth it. Proven top class defender. Rojo could be hit or miss.

EDIT: Never mind, white text lol. :smirk:

Refused to show up to training as we've met his release clause apparently.

Record are reporting we've met Rojo's release clause, make of that what you will. I personally hope it's true.

Fair enough, looks like it's happening regardless of how I feel about the situation so I'm ready to welcome him with open arms. Hope he turns out to be a world beater (I suppose it can happen, particularly with cbs around the age of 24 and he did look good at the World Cup).

EDIT: Anybody have a good video compilation so I can see his high points from last season?

Would be a good, versatile yet cheap signing. Was alright down the left for Argentina at the World Cup so would be adequate back up for Shaw - especially in a 3-5-2 formation being a LWB. However, from what I've heard he's quite average at centre back. We should be aiming higher at United...

Underwhelming signing but we will see. Never been that impressed but I've only seen him 4 times or so. Means we dont go for Blind. Questino is if this is the level of signings we're able to pull off

I'm not thrilled by this signing but i would take Rojo over Vermaelen any day of the week.

Another left back. Seems a strange signing if true. But these are strange times at United.

Solid back-up for Shaw and he can play at LCB too. Seems like a sensible signing if the price is decent.

Not sure what to feel about this, he looked good in the WC but that was playing at left back. Maybe he'll play LCB for us? (if the reports are true)

He's played centre half all season so it'll be more than likely that that's where he'll be used here.

@Sly His release clause is €30m ain't it?

Surprised we're paying that much if it is.

I think so. I´d speculate that Sporting would accept an offer in the region of 22/23 or even 20 but with objectives (winning the league or Champions League qualification).

Would people take Rojo or Blind? Similar players, Blind can play on midfield while Rojo can't but Blind is not as good as a CB as Rojo as far as i know.

I'd take both and would be delighted with our Summer's work.

Rojo, much more room for improvement. Think there's a good chance we might end up with both anyway.

After missing out on Vermaelen (phew) .Maybe he's the back up plan.

Probably Rojo ahead of Blind. He looks better than Blind from what I've seen, but still not great. Hope the talk of us paying €30m isn't true though, no way is he worth anything like that. £10m with £6m in add ons sounded more realistic and reasonable.
