LVG said in the interview of pre season vs LA, he is working with 352 at the moment due of the number 10 role we have. But he said if it doesn't work then he will change it to 433. It's about time that Giggs needs to step in and say something that 352 was not working against Swansea. Are we really going to take another risk against Sunderland away? Who knows.
It worked well in preseason. Its only been one game. We need to give it more time. We need new players to play better. Its as simple as that.

This is stupid. We invest 20 mill on a fourth centre back to play the 5-3-2 while LVG complains that he can't play his preferred 4-3-3 due to lacking wingers.

Exactly they only played one game because you couldn't trust them in any more games.

Yeah they'd definitely have conceeded more than 4 goals in the first 2 games. It definitely wasn't incompetant selection. Oh wait

Smalling and Jones played more world cup games at CB than Rojo. Number of games at CB doesn't determine who is better

Giggs would be wise to keep his mouth shut to be honest. Sure he could give his opinion but "stepping in" seems a big aggressive when in terms of managing/coaching he is FAR less knowledgable/experienced than van Gaal.

Another duty of assistant is giving suggestion to the manager. It's his duty if Giggs thinks if it can change the game. And LVG was probably think why not since 352 didn't work against Swansea.

So you'd be happy with Jones/Smalling/Evans being our CBs this season? Ready for some more Carrick in defence when they inevitably get injured 2 games into the season.

Agree. But I probably just cringe how we waste Januzaj talent. I just prefer to see Rooney as a winger than see Januzaj as a wingback.

So you want Giggs to STEP IN at tell the manager that something is not working, the same Giggs that produced maybe the worst match of last season
Compared to LvG , Giggs know feck all about how to manage a team , he just need to sit there an take notes.

I am happy with the three of them in a four man defense. LVG has said he plays the 5 man defense because of lacking quality wingers. Yet when he gets the chance to spend 20 mill it is on another defender instead of actually buying a winger and playing a 4-3-3.

Just saying, that excuse is now impossible for LVG to use, 5-3-2 is his choice not something he was forced in to.

Good excuse to have.

Well what would be the strongest 4-3-3 lineup we could put out ?

Jones - Smalling - Blackett - James

Fletcher--------Herrera

Young------Rooney--------Mata

----------Hernandez------------

Along with the OT fear factor and players playing out of position making debuts that seems weaker on paper.

Yes. I want Giggs said something. And in the end it's up to LVG decision either agree or no. Giggs is the assistant manager, it's not like he just sit there and take a note only. He can also give suggestion to LVG.

I thought we are talking about 433 for the whole season not just for Swansea game. Because I do.

Is it weird that I'm genuienly happier about the fact that we've actually managed to buy someone, then anything to do with who he is/what position he plays/etc.??

Then why are you using Swansea game as a example of 3-5-2 failing when there were clear mitigating circumstances.

I think 3-5-2 suits our squad right now more.

Will we own the full rights of Rojos once he has been bought from Doyen?
yes that's what I believe the issue was that doyen were happy with the €20m there share would be €15m leaving €5m to scp (not including the spartak sell on obviously) - I should also say Allegedly lol

If I'm correct, he says he can't play it because of winger AND midfielders. It's more because of the need for a decent DM like Strootman.

TBF he can also play left back to a very high standard. He's a solid signing.

What did I say in bold? I never say 433 against Swansea.
As for Swansea game I only said 352 wasn't working against Swansea so Giggs step in and suggested to try 4411.

Before step in into a conversation and complain or getting upset with what I said check the source of it.

We still don't know about the formation yet. LVG switched the formation into 4 in the back at 2nd half. It might be 433 or 4411.
Even with 433 with no quality wingers, we can still use Rooney as a winger. Not a good idea. But still better than our current wingers anyway except Januzaj.
It's just so awefull to see Januzaj as a wing back.

We had to play Tyler Blackett at CB and Ashley Young at LWB on Saturday. Rojo would've been a better option in both of those positions. It's a good signing if only it gives us a bit of back up in two positions where we are desperately short of numbers.

Rojo is a quality player, can play CB as well as LB, he'll definitely fit the team well, we need more than just him in defence though imo, at least 1/2 more defenders are needed.

we still need another top CM too, Di Maria rumours are fine but so far just that, rumours.

So, without being a smartarse, none of us should be offering any opinions on here until, with hindsight, we've been proven right? Did you, for example, take the same view when Moyes was signing Fellaini? As for the bolded part, is there anyone on here that actually thinks they know better than Van Gaal? But you'd have to be nuts to think he, or any manager, is infallible.

My point is the guy has been here five minutes and his record as a manager is superb. It's up to you and others if you want to twist yourselves in knots over who we sign. Right now I'm personally going to sit back and go with what LVG decides.

Three recognised CBs is not enough, especially with how injury prone Jones/Smalling have been. I'm sure us signing a defender doesn't actually affect whether or not we'll sign a winger.

Perhaps the wingers we're after are not going to happen? In which case we still need defenders. Not sure how you can conclude what you have until RVG has all the players he wants.

Blackett over Young any day.

I didnt say nor meant the bolded part.
As for 2nd part nobody thinks that but some are writing like they do.
