He'll be a decent backup, not sure how much will he improve the first 11. Haven't seen him much at all, so it would be daft to assume anything.

How were so many people unimpressed with him in the world cup? :wenger:

Thought he was very clearly good at the world cup, as was the whole of the Argentinian defence.

Front page of 2 different Portuguese newspapers, one of which Sly said is usually reliable. It'd be a strange rumour for them to make up simultaneously. Clearly something in it.
Sky now reporting it. Maybe I should do that more often.

Marcos Rojo is a red, is a red...

Also, read earlier that his name resembles how an old Pro Evolution Soccer game would have spelled Marco Reus.

This transfer, if it goes through, confirms one thing which we already know. The media knows feck all about our targets. Everyone's been like we will sign Vlaar, Blind, Di maria, Hummels, Vidal etc.., and no one saw this coming.

Let's all judge players on the World Cup. That Rooneys not very good is he? Diego Costa looks useless.. See, easy done.

Also papers saying today we would have no signings before the season starts, signing Rojo today would shit all over that.

Think it's safe to say this is happening at this point. Happy that we've got a bit of depth at the back now, and he's probably the type of player who suits a 3 at the back formation, given his weakness before was a bit of positional indiscipline. Hope he works out well.

Similar comments in here to in the Vidic thread when we got him. Some happy, some admit barely seeing him play, some pissed off because he isn't a world beater. He is the same age as Vidic aswell. Hopefully VG knows what he is doing if we get him.

Haven't we done this Argentian leftback/centreback hybrid before.....and that guy ended up wanting to go to Liverpool.

How do we pronounce his name? Ro-Ho? Or is it Rock-O? I seem to remember commentators pronouncing it Rock-O at the World Cup?

Why are people keep saying that he wasn't good at the WC? He was one of Argentina's best players for sure.

I can assume in LVG's list, he wanted a left footed defender...and Hummels was 1(though two footed/right footed), Vermaelen was 2 and Rojo 3. No idea about Benatia who is a superior defender and is two footed as well..

Even he's maybe not top club level

He can improve like every other player in the world if he works hard enough, the coaches can improve him and the players around him too

I don't know him enough to can give my opinion

Haven't seen him play other than at the World Cup but doesn't seem to be rated that high in Portugal.

Does prove the media know feck all in regards to who we're after.

People laughed at the Instagram story but it's the probably the most substantial thing in the Twitter thread in the last month:D

Well yeah, but he won't be a vidic. He might turn out to be great if we get him but Vidic was a bull and Rojo is a different sort of player. I know you never said he will be a vidic either, just putting it out there.
