When you think of Prince Jassim being a big wheel at PSG it is not too much to believe that he could be throwing a spanner in the works to prevent Ugarte going to Utd. Still a lot of angst in this guy over being out manoeuvred by INEOS and Ratcliffe in particular. I can’t see another viable reason why this saga has dragged on for so long and we could get stung here.

We still don't know if that fella even existed.

You do feel like we’re just waiting on Scott fecking McTominay making a decision at this point. He’ll be reluctant. I know some reports said he’s accepted but I’m not so sure.

Hi everyone newbie here, so please go easy on me in case you don't agree with my views on this guy.

I have a friend who supports Sporting, and he always tells me that Ugarte was the main reason, Palhinha lost the spot in the starting 11. He was a monster in their midfield and was quite unlucky, that his best season with Sporting coincided with their worst under Amorim.

We often see gaping holes in our midfield during games. Those cease to exist with him. Fans and pundits alike have become obsessed with Busquets and Rodri clones these days. Not every DM is going to dictate or control the tempo from deep. Those guys are specialists. This guy is a pure dm. A defensive midfielder in the truest sense of the word. Perhaps a ball winning midfielder because he's aggressive and won't just passively sit. The guy is a machine. A a player to let Mainoo do his thing while Ugarte is shepherding the midfield. We could do with an aggressive, fit, reliable ball winner with legs, who can plug gaps so that Mainoo and others dont have have to. Ugarte is elite at that. One of the best around right now at what he does. No, he's not going to dictate the tempo from midfield like Rodri, but who else can? Those are generational players, suitable to play a very specific setup. In Ugarte, we can have a dm who will protect the backline, and solidify the midfield like no other.

I can see him easily having the same impact Palhinha had, when he came to the PL, smashing all the tackles records. Plus, he is somewhat better on the ball than Palhinha and overall a better player. However he is much more a destroyer than a playmaker, but with Bruno and Mainoo, I think that has potential to be a very effective midfield three.

I am optimistic about this signing. :)

Confirmed: The 23-year-old Uruguayan midfielder has everything arranged to be the new reinforcement for the Red Devils.

Unzip time?

Don't know much about Ugarte but Casemiro is done and is not anything more than a backup. Hopefully this signing will elevate our team play.

I honestly believe we are going to see the Sporting version of him at Utd, doesn't feel like he ever got the love from PSG, however he will get it here and that will allow him to show his best

Ugarte, one more midfielder hopefully another DM and a left back. Help Sancho, Eriksen and Mejbri find new homes. Window closes.

We will maybe get one more if we're lucky but definitely not 3 that's an absolute guarantee

Does anyone know if Ugarte is any good? I’m seeing mixed reactions and responses to his supposed suitability in the team.

The only important question about this transfer is,

will we finally have the first 200 Page transfer thread of this Summer??

INEOS have really deprived us of any sagas...

Won't believe the move until his wife/gf posting in IG in fancy toilet.

200 pages of stats and measuring distance & closeness in an unknown metric.

Don’t know much about Ugarte
Don’t know much the point of Anthony
Don’t know much about the Dutch I took
And I don’t really get Ten Hag’s playbook
But I do know that I feel blue
And I know that if you feel blue too
We should probably go watch City

I could very very easily make a video of KdB making shit pass after shit pass after shit hollywood pass. Just as I can make a video of Scott McTominay looking like a worldie.

These videos are nauseating.

People would quickly discover that 5 second loop on McTominay though. On KdB I agree - you can create a terrible compilation on any player, just as easily as you can probably find moments where Antony will look good even in a United shirt - that's a push that Ugarte would be proud of, but still.

Because we need 2 different types of midfielders and neither are wrong but we can't get both so people disagree on the priority of who we need now.
We definitely do. Think the debate is more about what kind of #6 we need, a Carrick/Matic type, or a Gattuso/Ndidi type. Its down to personal preference, but also what kind of football we wanna play.

People here are acting like there's no middle ground between a Ugarte and Jorginho, but there is. Dont think its that difficult to find a solid #6, who can play about a bit, Kamara at Aston Villa is a player I wanted at United(when he was a free agent).

But Ugarte seems elite defensively, so ETH probably has some sort of plan for him(and has used Alvarez before who's a similar profile).

Is this some sort of a weird rant? I don't really have time to follow PSG games to have an in-depth analysis of what Ugarte is capable of. It's better to admit that than to feign knowledge that doesn't exist. Besides, my point is Casemiro is done and we can't trust him to play at a decent level week in and week out.

EDIT: Sorry, missed the context!
