Amidst the excitement of it all I didn't even realize that lovely touch out of the air and backheel was in the leadup to the winner. An away supporter posted a lovely video of the whole move on Reddit.

Yeah I remembered seeing it but didn't realise it was in the build up to the goal either. Makes the goal even more impressive.

Feels like the pundits always highlight him as being an underwhelming signing but overall he's been pretty good so far after taking a couple of games to settle in.

It's like having Martinez in midfield. Similar mentality and mindset.

Just before the winning goal he gestured to Lisandro to play the ball over the top. Love that. Not thinking about his passing stats but about winning the game.

The fallout from yesterday was annoying because he got absolutely zero mentions. It all went to Diallo and the defence, both of whom had great games but I thought he and Mainoo were superb up against their midfield and did their jobs supremely well. It is clear that unless places can absolutely unavoidably not mention Ugarte in the context of being good then they won't. It's £60million of click bait in their eyes.

Absolutely love him here especially after Amorim has joined. He has been great so far. Him and Mainoo would be my first choice midfield, it would make team a bit defensive but we wont be conceding any goals in open play. It would mean Bruno has to move to left or right midfield and we wont pace on the wings. Difficult problem.

Loved that bit where a high ball was dropping down on top of him in a crowded area of the pitch. With all the talk before he arrived of him being some sort of one dimensional clogger (looking at you, Carl Anka) you would fully expect him to Brexit the ball back up in the air. But oh no, kills it dead and instantly backheels it to a player in space. Sort of thing Berbatov would do. The dude has hidden depths.
That was beautiful

I thought we were getting a limited on the ball destroyer, I have been surprised by his general calmness off the ball too, intercepting and moving the ball on. He is much better than what I thought on and off the ball. Definitely nailed on for one of the two CM spots. Now just have to get Mainoo to understand his role better.

Would be interested to know how much ground he covered yesterday. Didn't stop all game. And was even sprinting to press on 90+ mins

To be fair to Bruno, he was full of praise for Ugarte unprompted in his post match interview with Amad. Seemed like he was about to say he was his MOTM, but stopped himself.

He's slowly turning into one of our most important players, specially for the role he has to play. Also didn't expect him to be that good on the ball, from the comments from people who did watch him before he came. So calm and can actually pick out a decent through pass(like against Viktoria and against City, think he has one more but can't remember against who).

But yeah, really enjoying watching him, alongside players like Amad, Mazraoui, Højlund (at times) and De Ligt(who's bringing back much needed physicality at the back).

Was there a story going that ETH didn't want him?
If that's true, can we get a full list? Seems there might be a pattern looking at the likes of Ugarte, Amad...
He did apparently need some convincing to sign this transfer off (he had veto power). He also benched him several times including his last game against West Ham where he played Casemiro and Eriksen instead.

We actually look pretty good in general play now, and he's the engine driving that.

Immense. Particularly the first half he was absolutely bossing it. Looking a really good signing at this early stage.

Excellent again tonight, always seems to be in the right area to disrupt the oppositions play and keeps hold of possession.

He’s top three names on the sheet for me right now. Amad, Maz, Ugarte. Probably should have stayed on but one eye on the weekend and all that

Exactly what our team has been crying out for for years. Runs, presses and battles like a mad man but surpringsly good on the ball too. Our only CM with that skill set.

No idea why people have this idea of him that he isn't good in the ball. He's very good on the ball. Not a creative passer necessarily but very press resistant and reliable with pretty much everything, reads the play really well, closes down space and tackles brilliantly... We just need someone who can rotate with him to rest him on occasion! First name on the team sheet currently.

Jesus christ he is good. It's almost bizarre how he goes under the radar of all the pundits.
He was totally rampant in the middle, such a nightmare to play against.
It was almost comical to see Eriksen being completely carried by Ugarte.

This guy is a monster at winning the ball back. Has such an engine on him He’s now showing he’s the player people hoped we were signing.

Thought it was a mistake taking him off for Garnacho as our last sub. Dalot should have made way instead at 3-2
Ruben doesn't seem to care about bringing off a key player at an important moment if he thinks they've run their race or he has a certain amount of pre planned minutes in mind for them. Did similarly with Bruno a few games back. I refuse to get annoyed at anything he does though

Brilliant - he's finding his feet and will be a fixture in our team for years to come. I love him.
