Nah, Bruno played well too. Despite that poor pass they ended up scoring from.

Ugarte was the best though. By a margin.
No he didn't. He had loads of lazy and loose touches all the way through the game, as well as being weaker than piss in his defensive work as well. The goal turned a terrible performance into a simply rank one.

Ugarte was far and away our best player however I agree.

It's a good sign that Amorim has got the one player he knows playing really well already, as it is that other than Zirkzee our summer signings look pretty decent.

As usual Bruno was central to any and all of our creative football. Which dried up completely the instant he went off. No change there. He’s had better games but was clearly one of our better players tonight.

Although admittedly that’s a low bar, seeing as most of them were very poor.

Quality player. Nice to have him and Mainoo to build the team around, really work well for the system though of course still room for them to grow and improve, especially mainoo. Really happy with the signing though. Just need depth for him as we drop significantly without his energy

Another decent performance, he's getting better with every game.

Still not sure if he's good enough overall, but he's doing ok so far.

Needs to be paired with a DLP next season so he can push up a bit more and press the opponent which is his best skill.

So Ugarte and Kobbie are the more defensive midfielders and yet Forest strode through our midfield at times.
He has good energy so maybe Kobbie is the issue.

Bruno had his ups and downs, unfortunately setting up their winner

Ugarte and Amad are the only ones who enhanced their reps for me

He's actually an excellent player. I can see what we're going for at times and we're back scoring goals at least. I think Ugarte will be an important player in what Amorim is building.

Ugarte is one of our few players who knows his role and plays it well. We simply don’t have another player good enough to play alongside him.

Does Declan Rice actually do anything but take corners?

Very interesting

Thought he was a complete turkey to begin with but I like the cut of his jib since Ten Hag left.

Only 23 as well so should still improve.

Not bad at all. Wins the ball a lot, carries it well, gets the ball accurately to a teammate.

Just need a deeper lying playmaker beside him who also has some legs in him and you’re pretty good.

They didn;t stride through our midfield like you say they did.

First goal was a corner and second goal was 2 mistakes.

We controlled most of the game, your are talking about striding through our midfield like it was the same as under Ten Hag.

He's been great lately, didn't realize how great though.

Yeah, we restricted them to 28% possession, 0 big chances created and 3 (mostly shit) attempts on target that they scored from. The centre midfield did their job better than anyone else on the pitch.

Watching Chelsea I’ve thought that Lavia has been at least as good as Caicedo. Makes you think how much better we’d be if we had two Ugartes, instead of one.

Mainoo is a terrific player but can’t help thinking he’ll end up playing further forward in the long term.

He has been but hasn't Caicedo been basically playing right back (missed most their games but from what I've heard). The main shift they've made in recent weeks is bringing Enzo back in and playing more advanced. So Lavia at 6, Enzo at 8 and Palmer 10. Its whether Ugarte, Mainoo and Bruno can replicate those 3. They can in some ways but Ugarte wouldnt have Lavia's passing range, Mainoo needs to affect the final third like Enzo has been doing last few weeks, and Bruno has to do his best to get anywhere near Palmer level of output.

Agree Lavia and Caicedo as a pair earlier in the season did look very good too though.

Yes, agree regarding Kobbie. He’s brilliant around the opposition penalty area. I look forward to seeing him play there eventually.

Been good the last few games. Still not sure who’d be best suited to playing alongside though.
That should depend on the opposition, we shouldn't think of a 'fixed XI' when everyone is available, there are games where Casemiro would be the best partner, other games where it might be Bruno and so on, that should apply in other positions (and formations for that matter)

I've never understood the objection to having two similar B2B or DM midfielders who can take turns to go forward, or stay behind or whatever. Have seen Keane and Paul Ince, Vieira and Petit, that Bayern midfield that absolutely wrecked Barcelona years back (Schweinsteiger and Martinez I think it was?).

Another aggressive ball winner would be great for us.

You need goals throughout the squad to facilitate that though. United also always had CM's that could chip in, like Scholes and even Keane had an eye for goal.

Depends on the shape of the team I guess and the quality in other areas. Liverpool under Klopp had a really hardworking, energetic midfield but I don't remember those players scoring that many goals. The front three and the full backs always seemed to be the main dangers.

In a 3-4-3, you'd expect your wingbacks to chip in with more goals (look at Frimpong last season with 14) and then you have the front three players. If we had great players in those positions then it wouldn't matter too much if we had two more defensive-minded midfielders.

Man City 1:2 Man Utd New
I thought he was outstanding today

Bossed the midfield and made so many big interceptions & tackles

He is fecking class, so underrated on the ball too.
