Pogue Mahone
Closet Gooner.
The only player other than Amad who can feel like they had a pretty good game.
Nah, Bruno played well too. Despite that poor pass they ended up scoring from.
Ugarte was the best though. By a margin.

No he didn't. He had loads of lazy and loose touches all the way through the game, as well as being weaker than piss in his defensive work as well. The goal turned a terrible performance into a simply rank one.Nah, Bruno played well too. Despite that poor pass they ended up scoring from.

Ugarte was far and away our best player however I agree.
Good game from him. Loved the pass to Garnacho for the first goal.

Ugarte is one of our few players who knows his role and plays it well. We simply don’t have another player good enough to play alongside him.So Ugarte and Kobbie are the more defensive midfielders and yet Forest strode through our midfield at times.
He has good energy so maybe Kobbie is the issue.

Not bad at all. Wins the ball a lot, carries it well, gets the ball accurately to a teammate.Caicedo vs Rice vs Ugarte – 2024/25 stats per 90

Yeah, we restricted them to 28% possession, 0 big chances created and 3 (mostly shit) attempts on target that they scored from. The centre midfield did their job better than anyone else on the pitch. They didn;t stride through our midfield like you say they did.
First goal was a corner and second goal was 2 mistakes.
We controlled most of the game, your are talking about striding through our midfield like it was the same as under Ten Hag.

He has been but hasn't Caicedo been basically playing right back (missed most their games but from what I've heard). The main shift they've made in recent weeks is bringing Enzo back in and playing more advanced. So Lavia at 6, Enzo at 8 and Palmer 10. Its whether Ugarte, Mainoo and Bruno can replicate those 3. They can in some ways but Ugarte wouldnt have Lavia's passing range, Mainoo needs to affect the final third like Enzo has been doing last few weeks, and Bruno has to do his best to get anywhere near Palmer level of output.Watching Chelsea I’ve thought that Lavia has been at least as good as Caicedo. Makes you think how much better we’d be if we had two Ugartes, instead of one.
Mainoo is a terrific player but can’t help thinking he’ll end up playing further forward in the long term.
Yes, agree regarding Kobbie. He’s brilliant around the opposition penalty area. I look forward to seeing him play there eventually.Watching Chelsea I’ve thought that Lavia has been at least as good as Caicedo. Makes you think how much better we’d be if we had two Ugartes, instead of one.

That should depend on the opposition, we shouldn't think of a 'fixed XI' when everyone is available, there are games where Casemiro would be the best partner, other games where it might be Bruno and so on, that should apply in other positions (and formations for that matter)Been good the last few games. Still not sure who’d be best suited to playing alongside though.
I've never understood the objection to having two similar B2B or DM midfielders who can take turns to go forward, or stay behind or whatever. Have seen Keane and Paul Ince, Vieira and Petit, that Bayern midfield that absolutely wrecked Barcelona years back (Schweinsteiger and Martinez I think it was?).Watching Chelsea I’ve thought that Lavia has been at least as good as Caicedo. Another aggressive ball winner would be great for us.
Depends on the shape of the team I guess and the quality in other areas. Liverpool under Klopp had a really hardworking, energetic midfield but I don't remember those players scoring that many goals. The front three and the full backs always seemed to be the main dangers. You need goals throughout the squad to facilitate that though. United also always had CM's that could chip in, like Scholes and even Keane had an eye for goal.
