mmm nah, Marcelo las bolas, garra charrua de cuna.
PD: no pienso traducir eso, que la soben y la sigan sobando...un poco de agua sureña y dulce rioplatense en este mar norteño
You are right that Man Utd (feck autocorrecting M.a.n.u) adds the garra charrúa twist with "fight" when Bielsa says "without the ball we work".

Plus in Bielsa it's more of pressing, constant dinamic and in his case it can be that, but also get under the skin, every ball the last one etc

Man Utd 3:1 Southampton New
Very bad tonight, all of the previous fears about his game were on display.

Could barely walk, let alone run. Him and Mainoo looked so visibly fatigued in the first half.

Amorim probably noticed it in training but wasn’t going to start Ericksen and Casamiro again. Hopefully today would given him more trust in Collyer in midfield in situations like this.

He’s been really good recently but had a bad game tonight, the whole team looked sluggish.

Extra time and penalties in London on Sunday evidently took its toll.

But after the scousers and Arsenal there was always going to be a dump.

Will be a tough ask for the weekend. Amorim has previously mentioned that Ugarte recovers slowly so don’t be surprised if he is rested against Brighton.

Needs a rest but probably can't. We're back to two games a week again for a while.

Exhausted after carrying the midfield single-handedly against Pool and Arsenal, understandably.

Don’t remember too many players in history playing good every single game. The guy is a mainstay in our team for the rest of this decade

How is it possible to misspell two players names in succession? Surely you’ve seen them written enough on here and elsewhere?

Looked shattered, which was understandable.

Ideally it was a game he could have been rested in, but given where Utd are right now as the manager you'd be very reluctant to not start him. Right decision to take him off.

I thought he was still our best midfielder and played well. We need to find a way to make sure he isn’t doing the work of 2/3 players though.

He has played the equivalent of 17 games this season and hasn't exactly been overplayed.

If he already needs a rest, his fitness must be terrible.

That’s nonsense. If he had played 17 games with a week between them then he wouldn’t be tired but he’s been playing two matches a week relentlessly since he got in the team. That takes its toll, no matter how fit a player is. Especially for someone who covers as much ground as he does whenever he plays.

That's why I said he hasn't been overplayed, Amorim has been managing his game time and subbed him early a few times. He even had a 10-day break because of his suspension. I don't see a reason for him to need a rest unless there are problems with his fitness. If it's specifically about being overplayed and working hard, players like De Ligt, Mazraoui and Amad need rest more.

Actually good point about the 10 day break.

How much of a preseason did he get?

The thing is it's not about the 10 days break, is it? it's playing games in succession after one went to extra time and penalty. If they're really fatigued then we need to find a way to improve their recovery time so they can do it faster. Each player has a different recovery pace based on their own conditions. Nutrients, sleep, mental state, etc. Where is Brailsford when you need him? where is the 1% rule???? Have we even tried to provide players with the best pillows?

He’s done brilliant and deserves a game off now. No one can’t expect him to single-handedly control a midfield match after match like he has been.

Man Utd 1:3 Brighton New
Not good again, I'm afraid. Looked like he was running in treacle at times.

I thought he was okay. He is effectively playing in midfield and covering the midfield by himself when playing next to Mainoo.

I think the tone has been set. He’s very good at what he can do, and not so great at what he can’t do.

Doesn’t make him a bad player or anything, it’s just weird how we tend to sign players who are ridiculous in some aspects of the game and then average in others.

I didn't get why he was hooked for Collyer. Collyer literally offers nothing more and it showed

Other teams play with the specific target of being in control of midfield. The combinations we have in midfield will leave us 2nd best in most matches unfortunately. Which is not just the fault of the midifeld by the way. I thought, he was okay. We didn't have any kind of grip in this game, but I am fairly sure this wasn't because this or that player but because Brighton was prepared for us and did something on a tactical level.

Struggled along with Mainoo. They both put in some tackles, Ugarte 3 and Mainoo 2 before being subbed but with the ball they were unable to get anything going.

Yup. Said in the summer, good player but not at all what we needed. Too many deficiencies in the squad and in particular in midfield. We needed a more well round player.
He’d be a fantastic destroyer in a proper well drilled machine team. In our team he’s gonna have good games and horrific games.

Another brainless signing tbh, not at all reflective of him but the club.

Looked like he was on a mission to get a yellow card, which he managed to do in the end.

He's been a bright spot, but looks like he needs a break. It's understandable really, and what often happens with our few competent players. We overplay them and have to rely on them week in, week out until they eventually tire.
