Manchester United view sidelining Marcus Rashford as key to cultural reboot

If Amorim truly believes that Rashford can play a role here, he will not last long.

Without taking into account all the media things etc, Rashford is a very average player paid as a WC one. He has no place in a team that wants to compete. Only as a squad player with low wages.
Basically Amorim is wrestling the ball back in United's court. If we want to sell for a good value we can't just come out and confirm Rashford is for sale.

I love that he says it's his decision and he is sticking by it. Basically he says he will not budge on his principles no matter what. He has previously echoed the same sentiment (saying the club would not change him).

With all the drama I've only recently begun to reflect on how bizarre the Henry Winter 'interview' is... it's not even an article just a solitary (extremely long) tweet written by an unemployed journalist. It's such an unusual choice of PR briefing, but maybe he was the only one willing to act as such a blatant mouthpiece.
Winter turns up a lot at his charity events and this one was booked weeks ago. Nothing more to it than that.

Its a bit uncomfortable now that he's constantly putting out PR to counteract Amorim.

The old mantra was that one person is not bigger than the club. The club needs to jump on this and get rid ASAP just because of his behaviour recently.
Which PR is that btw?

Have we not got a fecking press officer or whatever they're called? Need to give him some protection from the relentless Rashford nonsense before he gets fed up with it.

He can’t exactly come out and say he’s trash and will never play as it will tank what little value he has.

That's my hope. That he said it for this reason and not that he truly believes that Rashford has a real important role to play in the future.

Most journalists are actively trying to put pressure on Amorim whilst making Rashford a martyr.
If you need any further proof who is the mole leaking club information to press....
Yeah. It’s ridiculous and makes pressers so boring being 95% about Rashford. But I like that way Amorim just smiles and answers while adding “it’s an issue for you guys”

This was obviously pre-arranged. Winter didn't just randomly bump into Rashford and the latter decided to "spill the beans"

It was even more pre-arranged than that. Originally it was planned for a week earlier but didn't happen - Winter admitted this on the radio.

So originally it would have happened before he was even left out.

The interview itself, yeah. Not sure he would've gone for the "challenge, next step" nonsense if he hadn't been left out.

As we get deeper into Christmas Day 2024, those of us who still do the Christmas thing are getting more lubricant supplied, and are stuffed with pud and turkey. Spare a thought for the insecure millionaire, for whom no team is built around. His finger to head move seemed about to set a trend. Didn’t happen. Fans don’t sing his name anymore.

Is it worth reminding everyone that this lad scored twice in his last Premier League game in the last time we played ok as a team?

It's so obvious the problem isn't Rashford but banishing him is it's own problem.

He's our best finisher and this is costing us every game

I think it’s clear that selling Rashford is mainly a financial decision. We are fecking skint and selling a home grown player will open up quite a few possibilities! He’s also been woeful for two seasons which certainly helps

Shocking how we are handling this and while I have a feeling it's not on Amorim the fact he is unable to do anything about it it doesn't bode well for his time here.

Yeah taking our leagues top gaol scorer out of the team is really showing the world cultural reboot. If only Rashford dressed like a hobo and drove a Honda or Fiat maybe he would get in the team.

Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face just to appease fans. Reminds me of the sancho situation the needless attempt to assert authority in order to try and endeavour yourself to the rapid fans who need a scapegoat

Any United supporter still backing Rashford is beyond stupid. If Rashford really loved this club he’d be turning himself inside out to get back in the side but clearly can’t be arsed. The whole things has gone to his head and I can’t wait to see the back of him. He offers nothing and hasn’t for seasons. This whole affair is ripping through the club and needs sorting.

Whatever, he’s been wank for 18 months and worst of all doesn’t appear to even try.

There’s definitely an element of him being made an example of, and I agree I’d rather have him available than not - but he doesn’t deserve to play for us overall.

Based on knowing absolutely nothing about what's going on.

It's clear the powers in charge want him out for the highest price they can get and it makes no difference what he does or doesn't do.

And you think not playing him at all is a deliberate strategy to do this? I mean he’s been playing like shit for ages but I don’t see how freezing him out for three games will give his perceived value much of a bump, will it?

United were (allegedly) leaking to the press that they wanted rid of Rashford and also pushing out unsubstantiated rumours that he wanted a move to PSG in the summer but were (allegedly) also telling Rashford himself that he was a part of the club's plans. Rashford (allegedly) heard about the clubs slightly underhand shenanigans and became rather annoyed. You can therefore understand why the likes of Rashford are confused about the clubs direction.

You can also laugh at the hypocrisy when it comes to suggestions about leaking team news.

Any United supporter still seeing Rashford as a problem when he hasn't played for four games is beyond stupid. This is ultimately on the club and potentially now the manager.

It's absolutely fecking insane how he's been dropped like EVERYONE ON HERE feckING DEMANDED and he's still being blamed for the team losing every week.

I agree. They complain about whats not going well but as soon as things get bumpy they dont care about standards anymore

Can we sideline more players, please?
What goods it doing though? Like genuinely?

We made a statement about dropping two of our attacking players and ultimately nothing has changed.
Who the feck is blaming him for our loss to Wolves?
The fact this thread is top of the forum when he hasn't played suggests a weird dynamic of people who still see Rashford as the main problem

What standards? People decide they don't like a player and say he's to blame for the all the major issues like they did with Ashley Young, like they did with Fellaini, like they did with Di Maria, Pogba, Sanchez, Lukaku, Lingard, Maguire, McTominay, Fred and then wonder why nothing changes when that player is replaced with another scapegoat.

Nothing at United makes any sense anymore. It just seems to me the decision has been made to force him out as soon as possible and I'm just hoping it's too raise funds to bring in players that will make the difference for us.

I do feel bad that we are doing this to a a guy who's been here since he was ten years old and is a decent person.

However as we have seen time and time again it's very easy for the media and people in charge to make people believe what they want and follow them blindly.

Doesn't seem to have galvanized the rest of the squad yet.

Hopefully we can make some clever buys if we get a good fee for him and long term look better off.

I think the issues with Sancho and Rashford are linked to the managers. Rashford was really onside with ETH in the beginning, in the best form but when Sancho was sent away for training and also called out in the press he's been quiet quitting for ETH since then. Amorim comes in, I expected him to get Rashford onside with his reputation for getting on with players and get a good run before selling but we have the manager talking openly about his training standards, dress type and questions by Amorim about the people around him. For Rashford this would be step too far and time to go.

For me I would look to manage the players better and then sell to get a higher fee if still not pulling 100% rather than banish them or call them out or you can look at it another way at least for Amorim possibly better off long term easing him out quickly. He's our only peak age player with proven quality and really could've done with him.
