Manchester United view sidelining Marcus Rashford as key to cultural reboot

Why are you lot so dramatic?

If he’s in the squad then it’s because the manager has decided he’s got something to offer. It’s that simple.

Amorim has had this stance from the start so I’m struggling to see why some of you seem to have been blindsided by it.
Yeah he’s basically doing exactly what he said he’d do

I love nothing more than he coming in and scoring week in and week out. There is romance in a academy player coming to aid the club in times of crisis carrying the club forward. But i seen him jogging around the pitch, pseudo pressing for nearly half a decade now. I'm sorry, i just don't see that in him. His sheer presence in the squad will only undermine amorims vision forward. Because no matter how many purple patches enacted by rashford, he will regress to the mean eventually doing what he always do anyway. Its a tedious drama and distraction we simply can't afford right now. Its better we just keep him away from the squad to ease parting. The transfer window is open in 36 hours.

Love him or hate him, we’d need a proper replacement for Rashford if/when he leaves. Although I think we’d struggle to find a non-Saudi club willing to pay his ludicrous wages.

i fail to see the issue with those headlines
Really..you don't think somethings off with, that newspaper in particular, producing article after article on the issue, (16 in the last 3 weeks) all with a negative slant??

It's the same thing negative nonsense over and over and over. It's just piling on for the sake of it. Just regurgitating the same BS for clicks. We are supporters so we should back our players at some point. Even if you want Rashford gone you can admit that sometimes the media is over the top.

No because its been all over the media everywhere everyday, even Carragher said the guy isnt worth the coverage. Once he leaves this club it will thankfully all die down for him

This is Redcafe lad, read the room.

And who fed this shitstorm by doing an interview behind the clubs back? Thus giving the media exactly what they wanted

In a team where basically everyone is playing like shite it’s not inconceivable that there’s a club out there somewhere who thinks Rashford’s a victim of team dysfunction. God knows there’s a cohort of our own fans who think this. But that vague hope would be torpedoed if United succeed in this alleged media campaign to destroy his character and put all the blame for his poor performances on Rashford himself. Which is why it’s such a ludicrous theory.

To be fair, now I think about it, some of the theories floating round are quite entertaining!

It’s mind blowing how much of a media darling this guy is. He doesn’t even play for England. Why does he become so important when Manchester United are involved?

The media is piss poor or Rashford’s entourage is working overtime.

Which was multiple weeks ago and was already reported on at depth when it happened. You aren't making the point that you think you are and are only enforcing my point.

The sheer toxicity of his influence on the bench is turning the squad to shit by proximity it seems...

I will confidently say right now that none of our attackers will end up hitting the heights Rashford has whilst at Utd, and Rashford will end up being thought of more favourably in the long run.

I would say that this depends entirely on how Amorim fares.

But, sure - I won't deny it's a possible scenario (sadly, I should add).

I have no insight into the behaviour of Rashford in the dressing room or on the training ground, but me and thousands of United fans have watched his "live performances", which surely the majority would argue have been extremely underwhelming to say the least. We can only guess what the new manager has witnessed, but I feel Rashford's actions in going to America during the international break showed a complete lack of respect and professionalism which, I personally, cannot comprehend....and should have resulted in serious consequences for him. Lo and behold we now witness him being dropped, perhaps his "couldn't give a toss" attitude has deteriorated and it is impacting on his team mates. A manager, especially a newcomer, HAS to demand loyalty and commitment to his methods, and if he observes a problem...he has to eradicate it. Unfortunately it is an idolised local, "through the ranks" player.

Casemiro went to New York, as well. Same consequences for him?

Flying to New York is maybe half the distance the South American lads travel to join up with their national teams. It’s not like spending a few days away is so egregious because it’s leisure as opposed to joining up with a national team.

While I agree now that Rashford’s time is up at United, it’s this sort of self-fulfilling prophecy attitude where what Rashford does is “incomprehensible” when it’s not even mentioned when his teammates do the same thing that has lead to this break in the relationship with one of the most successful academy graduates in the clubs history, which is sad to see.

If its Rashford or the Torygraph. I'm on team rash every feckin time.

The right wing media have had it in for him ever since he had the temerity to publicly criticise the Tory Party in an attempt to get them to feed starving kids.

I don't know why people bring up his vacations at all. If you have been watching the matches you knowthat per match he's got one half-hearted attempt at pressing, one decent track back and only pretend attempts at 50-50s in him. He's clearly decided he's above doing much besides floating around waiting for a Hollywood pass from Bruno to put him in on goal, or dribbling at defenders and failing. Managers reporting that he can't be bothered to train with any intent or follow instructions isn't surprising at all given what we've been seeing from him in matches.

He's had a 4 month purple patch bisecting an awful 3 1/2 seasons. Maybe some other big club buys him and figures out how to get some work out of him but he's clearly got zero interest in putting the work in to learn a different role, especially if it means he has to run more, so he's going to be useless here.

This is what disappoints me the most. Its very rare for a footballer to use their platform to bring something good to society. He managed it. Then this whole PR/celebrity machine took over and put something rotten in him and its been allowed to grow ever since.

Hate the tories and the media organisations in bed with them. They definitely have it out for Rashford and they have done it for years. Just so happens this time theres some substance to it. A broken clock and all that.

Fully expecting many to throw a proper strop when he gets ushered back into the team over these next few weeks

We can quash all the rumours of him changing his tune about staying and putting in extra effort in training by selecting him to play against Liverpool. He’s be subbed by HT and sweat free.
We just need to cut our losses with this overrated lad. He’s bang average and doesn’t give a shit.

Lots of Rashford coverage on United youtube channels this morning. An article released in the Athletic about him going out on the lash a number of times 48 hours before games. Turning up for training appearing tired, the word hungover was suggested. Another channel suggesting there have been issues with Rashford for years through a succession of United managers. Reading between the lines they are suggesting in a careful way Rashford has an issue with wanting to go out and “party” If so hes not the first and wont be the last.
Ive heard more detailed rumours and you could argue theres no smoke without fire.
Humans can have addictions and footballers are no different. Lets hope if such players have an issue they can get some help.

Hirst shown up to be talking bollox (again) by the stories about Rashford going out and looking poor in training and/or missing it.

Like majority of journalists (sic), just uses our club name/fan base size, to generate clicks. He knows nothing.
