Wouldn't surprise me if we end up losing the chance to sign either Pep or Ancelotti. Is Moyes available?
Bookmarking this for potential blue meltdown scenario.
If we haven't even approached him, all i can do is laugh. For me that would be confirmation that our future is bleak. What if we haven't approached him at all? How will he choose us over city then?
All this speculation is assuming that we have an understanding with LVG in place who will leave after this season. Currently, we have the more stable and safe (arguably) manager and City might have showed a lot of interest since the last few months. On the other hand, all he has from the United side is a lunch date with SAF who asked him to call him before making a decision.
Unless we are making a formal approach, he is never going to call us up to check "Hey, by the way guys, are you looking for a new manager?".
That's exctly my point. We can match City for wages, we just have to hope he would want to go to a club steeped in tradition and history rather than joining his mate at the new flashy circus. Why we could flood him with money.
Pep not wanting to upset his friends is a line of thinking that was literally pulled out of thin air in this thread.I think the job of bringing united back to the top of European football would be more interesting than helping city chip away at the nouveau riche tag. United can offer him the same spending power and we all know he's one to admire the bigger clubs.
Also i dont this BS about not upsetting his friends, all top managers dream of managing top clubs, and its well documented that pep has admired united since his playing days.
We should go all out for him, and while he might yet end up at city, i don't think is that much of a long shot to say he might end up here.
Feel free.
I'm expecting a red meltdown on a scale that will make any potential blue one quite insignificant.
I think United are just clickbait in this situation. It's one of the downsides having having the most fans I'm afraid.
Pretty much bang on.I don't think so. Most United fans think he's City bound. City fans think he's City bound. City even got in Begiristain and Soriano to lay the foundations for Guardiola to come and take the reigns at some point and he may well do so. Everyone has assumed he is City bound. If he then doesn't and opts to go across town I think would be pretty seismic.
I'm not sure about this most fans stuff either. We've all had to sit up and take notice since you alerted us just a couple of weeks ago to City's 10 million new fans in the UK and 75 million in China so at this stage I'd expect City have already surpassed us. Sad but true.

You believe this ?
They were employed as they were seen as the best men for the job. Potentially atracting Pep is a bonus.
You're wrong about the blue meltdown. City fans are used to years and years of disappointments. We will take it in our stride.
For many United fans however, this is a relatively new experience and much more difficult to handle.
No he isn't. Everything he says will be the opposite of what happens. How reliable is Graham Hunter?

He reckons Pep's plan is to manage United before taking Brazil to the 2022 world cup. Seems to imply he heard it from the horses mouth.

The long game for City has always been Pep and it's simply disingenuous to suggest otherwise. I know you like to get your excuses in early but give it a rest.
As for the rest of that patronising claptrap you've spouted I'll say little other than a quick visit to a certain City forum paints a very different picture of City fans than the one you're trying to propagate here.
No he isn't. Everything he says will be the opposite of what happens.
Haha you cannot possibly understand the psyche of City fans.
If Pep signs for United it will just be another disappointment in a lifetime of disappointments supporting City. That's what 'typical city' is all about.

Right we should just give up then and take up womens basketball.
So whats the plan for Peps successor should he take over United and leave after 3 seasons? Has anyone thought this out yet? Because he wont stay at United longer than that, or City for that matter.
That's the only fact you've produced in this thread.
I think they've installed Windows 10 we all know of the problems our antiquated computers caused with DDG's move to Real.Has anyone made the joke that "upgrading contact" probably means Ed repeatedly emailing him from his new iPhone 6s instead of just the shitty old 6 yet? Because if not I think I will make that joke.
3. Pep has said that Txiki is the smartest man in football
There are few facts in this thread. It's all conjecture.
However I have posted the following facts
1. Txiki and Pep are very good friends
2. Txiki is credited by Pep of getting him the Barca B team coaches job and of promoting hin to the first team
3. Pep has said that Txiki is the smartest man in football
These are facts which if you don't believe me you can search the internet for.
What facts have you brought to this thread ?
he also said he could see him self managing at utd one day as he liked the atmosphere. A while back tho.Pep has also said that Rode is his favourite player, he wants 100 Dantes in his team, Mandzukic is the best striker in the world inside the box and he has no prüblem at all with him, and Badstuber the best player he's ever had.
He also called Marcelo Bielsa the best coach in the world, and Ingolstadt the best team Bayern have faced this season.
Just for context.
In fairness, he has got his facts straight. Apart from "the smartest" - he's one of the smartest, not THE smartest.Pep was a legendary youth player at Barca, if he wanted that La Masia job then he had it.
It's like LVG getting credit for keeping Giggs in a job at United, it doesn't make sense.
Apparently he will take over Chelsea in the summer because his family wants to move to London rather then Manchester..Hiddink till the end of the season.
I can see Pep having the choice of any of the three English clubs.Pep to Chelsea, Ancelotti to United and Jose to City. I'd probably take that - Let the two boys have all the high profile fights and quiet Carlo will be sitting in the background getting shit done.
At this stage though, I suspect that nobody has a clue what the feck will happen.
I can see Pep having the choice of any of the three English clubs.
Don't get me wrong I have no doubt Pep said this. I'm just saying he's paying him a bit of lip service with that compliment. In fairness, he has got his facts straight. Apart from "the smartest" - he's one of the smartest, not THE smartest.

"Their director of sport Txiki Begiristain is [one of] the more special people of my life. He gave me the challenge to train the second team of Barcelona and, after that, the first team and I think he is one of the smartest guys in football around the world."
If we haven't even approached him, all i can do is laugh. For me that would be confirmation that our future is bleak.
He's building no sort of legacy here for another manager to build on either were arguably worse under Lvg than moyes,
