It's the fans that have done it.

Journalists want to hound Mourinho out, not Woodward who gives them briefings.

The fans want Woodward out. He's driving this club into the ground and it will only get worse, it's been proven it doesn't matter who the coach is.

Woodward is literally deciding which players we keep and who we sign etc. He knows nothing about football and has now undermined one of the most successful managers of all time.

If you think Woodward is good for United, you're not a Manchester United supporter in my opinion.

Exactly - I pretty much said the same thing in my previous post.

What has he really achieved for the club in the past 6 years football wise? We haven't challenged for the title, we've only qualified for the CL 3 out of 6 times and the football/recruitment is very poor.

Totally agree with this.

Mourinho is done here and has to go. But the Glazers and Woodward are the real issue here. They're useless parasites.
 
I dont really get all the hate towards Woodward. The club have spunked an absolute ton of cash since SAF retired. He has backed 3 manager's with a lot of money.

Why would anyone sane want Ed out of the club? I've personally said he needs to relenquish his football duties and pass them over to someone more experienced. Ed needs to continue to bring in the revenue but the ultimate goal should be success on the pitch.

This may be a forum where opinions of all sorts exist but that right there is just terrible analysis. He's hired three managers that do not suit the club ethos with absolute no design on how to build a squad to win PLs and CLs. I heard an anecdote from Andy Mitten, where an agent told who has dealings with both clubs, told him that Man City's player recruitment setup and strategy is so far ahead of United's. If you think EW's title role is to simply authorize funds, you should just accept no league titles or CLs. He's an investment banker with no skill set for player recruitment.
 
I'm sorry but could someone please tell me how Woodward is to be blamed for our current mess? Especially after the way the board has supported Jose. Moreover, why is Jose expecting us to sign more defenders when we already have Jones, Smalling, Bally, Rojo and Lindelof as CBs. Even a championship manager can get the best out of this defence. Remember, we had the second best defence in the league last season. We all know how Jose puts the blame on board, players, fans etc just to defend himself. He did it at Chelsea in the end and broke their support base. Jose has been given the players he wants and he should be doing a better job especially when he thinks that he's the best manager in the world.

That's the issue though, he has literally wasted the club's money on poor signings with his meddling and covered it up as a pretense of "backing the managers".

The fool probably promised Moyes players like Fabregas and Thiago, Bale and Muller. When he failed spectacularly he has to panic buy Fellaini and Mata for him. Then when it goes tits up he just sacks Moyes and poor Moyes gets all the blame. No wonder he is still griping about us till today. That is a colossal waste of money that could have strengthened the team.

By not selling deadwood like Martial he is wasting our opportunity to get good money from him. By the time he decides to let him go, it will be for pittance.

It also made you wonder who decided to give Rooney that huge contract that set us back. That's surely not on the head coach?

And some people like yourself just don't see the bigger picture here. You equate a successful CEO with simply spending/making money. Now that fine in certain aspects i.e if you have a definite road map and philosophy in terms of where you want to be. This is exactly where Woodward has failed. He was also the person who brokered the deal for the Glazers to saddle the club with all the debt. He was the person who has hired the last 3 managers and let them waste all that money, yeah all that money you said it was the reason he's doing such a great job. He also comes across as a massive twat and is seriously unlikeable. You hear all these stories that make him that way. See Daniel Taylors piece in the guardian as a reference. I can't stand people on this forum defending him simply because he "backed all the managers with $$$". It's a stupid argument.

I assume that by "the fans" you mean some fans.

Some fans are fickle morons, when we hired Moyes there was a "The chosen one banner" at Old Trafford.

Problem is that some people shift blame depending on which way the wind is blowing. Fergie played a large part when Moyes was pointed out to be the right man to take charge, now there's a pretty picture being painted of Woodward being the chump responsible for Moyes.

When we hired Van Gaal, and signed the likes of Di Maria, Shaw, Herrera, Blind, Martial, Rojo, Schweinsteiger, Schneiderlin and Depay, Woodward was hailed as a genius, swooping in and taking care of business. Now he's an utter disaster, because we wasted money on the likes of Di Maria, Martial, Shaw, Herrera, Blind, Rojo, Schweinsteiger, Schneiderlin and Depay, why didn't he put his foot down and refused to pay for those players

Mourinho comes in, Woodward is hailed as a genius for hiring the right manager to secure the future of the club, spends an absolute fortune signing Pogba, Mkhi, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Bailly, Lukaku, Matic, Sanchez (wages), Lindeløf, Fred.

Suddenly gets slaughtered sideways for putting his foot down when we wanted to sign Alderwereid for an insane fee, and the notion that he thinks he knows more than the manager about players.

One day he's blamed for not putting his foot down and refusing to sign players, the next day he's blamed for doing so. Great.

Thinking this is black and white is absurd, fans are divided and rightly so. Some have the brain capacity to see that 1) Woodward is interfering when he should stay far away 2) the current manager should be doing a far better job with the players he has available.

Mainly on Moyes, I'd say. Fergie played it so that Rooney could've been shipped out - but Moyes wanted to keep him.

Woodward obviously sanctioned the contract, though. Just like he sanctioned - for instance - Schweinsteiger's contract, various renewals and most recently Sanchez' monster deal. Would a competent DoF done the same?

It's hard to get rid of players whose contracts are so fat that no club who'd be interested otherwise will want to match them.

Woodward replaced a typical British manager with a possession freak - and then replaced the possession freak with a manager known for the very opposite style. It hardly smacks of a well thought-out scheme - and when there's no payoff in the shape of major trophies short term, it looks very much like a stupid scattergun approach gone wrong.

Nevermind actual trophies, for that matter - we haven't been anywhere near challenging for them since Fergie retired, gaining a reputation for shite football in the process.

Woodward is a tool for the Glazers, his job is to make them money first and foremost. They are parasites leaching the club but if Woodward is smart he will figure out that he needs help managing the football side of things. If he brings in someone to handle the football side and he handles the commercial side (aka making the Glazers money) that would be the right balance. Glazers arent going anywhere unless a crazy offer comes in for the club so the best we can hope for is Woodward managing things properly.
 
Woodward out of football matters (DOF please) and Mourinho replaced with a fresher manager more in tune with United’s traditions. Although you’d need an Airbus 380 to get that message across.

He won't, what follows though could be him doing his utmost from now on to prove everybody around him that he actually is the man for the job which could reduce the chance for hiring DOF even further and, as a result, feck things up even more for us.

It's just yet another case of bunch of morons wanting to make themselves famous and thinking they are more important than they actually are.

Yeah, he's a corporate man through and through, this won't affect his Sunday afternoon - only the bottom line matters to those men.
I'm hoping he get's on with getting a DOF though. I hope he doesn't do anything stupid and just get on with the restructuring of the football side of things and get help in.

The man is fantastic at the commercial side of things which brings in money to buy shiny new players. He should not lose his job, just step aside slightly from football matters.

The green and yellow scarf campaign proved how powerless we actually are. All that went on and the Glazers didn't even flinch and the money just kept rolling in. Some fans broke away and started their own team and the Glazers didn't even flinch and the money kept rolling in. The only reason that they would act is if the club started to lose money a banner flying over the ground isn't going to make that happen.
