The same Avram Grant that got his job by nepotism and all the Chelsea players called him a coaching dinosaur and couldn't respect him being so behind the times. Alright.

I honestly don't find any point of this thread at the moment. This DOF thing has been dead for 2 months now.

At Real, Valdano never wanted Mourinho appointed and after the appointment, seemed more intent on sabotaging things. You shouldnt have a DoF acting as saboteur and Perez made the right decision by firing him.

If Mourinho truly has a problem working with a DoF, he would have made that clear before joining Madrid or spending two seasons at Chelsea

Mou had problems with Emenalo. He initially had problems with Branca, only to be put back in his box by Moratti. He also had problems with Valdano. So basically he had frictions with all the DOFs he encountered.

Its sad really, considering that from what we've seen in the transfer market, player's aquisition seems to be the 'special' one's major flaw. He needs someone to do the thinking for him on that regard.

I have never heard about any conflict with Branca, Valdano was at fault imo, and he worked fine with Emenalo until the john stones saga.

So I dont see it as a problem with DoFs per se but (like we have seen this season) he doesnt react well to his transfer requests being ignored. That would usually involve the DoF.

As much as I disagree with his petulant handling of things, in both Valdano and Emanlo cases,I believe he was in the right. A good DoF should be helping the manager not working against him (valdano) or back seat coaching (Emenalo). If at any point you dont trust your manager's judgement on what the squad needs, then you should fire him, not work to undermine him.

The DOF is there to defend the club's corner. He makes sure that fees/salaries paid are fair + he also makes sure that the manager's demands make sense. If they are not, then he vetoes them. Which explains why Mou tend to argue with each and every one of them.

Which is silly really, considering how shit Mou is in identifying players that would do well with us.

Maybe Man Utd are delaying this until they sack Mou at the end of the season and appoint a new manager. They want to get a DoF or Tech Dir that can work well with the new manager. Lots of moving parts.

He is equally to blame for our current condition. Been saying since summer if you are not going to back a manager like Jose then better sack him. We can blame jose for all we want but Woodward is the one who is making sure we finish outside top 4. This was bound to happen since summer of 2018 and yet here we are , 17 points off city. How is this acceptable for a club like Manchester United. Would it be acceptable at madrid or barca or bayern?

I don't trust our owners and Woodward to take this club forward.

True Ed is not the man to make footballing decisions, but to say he has not backed Jose is laughable. Poor Jose wanted another CB because the two he had bought proved to be c*ap. I wouldnt let Jose spend another pound at our footballing club. Get a DOF in, leave Ed concentrate on toothpaste deals and fire this cnut of a manager tonight

He needed to back or sack I agree but Woodward isn't at fault for this season, Mourinho completely and utterly is. I think without a doubt, the course of this season would be the same even if Mourinho had got his 70mill Alder.

I don't care about Jose or Woodward. I care about this club and for the club's sake we need fullbacks and a quality CB and the board did not spend this summer. Anyways what's done is done but the fact that Jose is still managing and making a mockery of our club is unacceptable and what's even more unacceptable is he has not been sacked.

The fact that he is not sacking jose is his fault. Jose has been moaning since summer and many fans already were saying this wont end well and yet Woodward did absolutely nothing.17 points off the top and we call ourselves a big club. Sorry the club is run by morons.

Yes it is his fault but the season is on Mourinho.
 
Enough is enough. Sack Jose. Put the team out of their misery, and lets just start the season fresh. At least it would give the new manager half a season to find his feet, and realise which players wont fit his style. If a change isn't made this week, Ed is making a mockery of the fans. The line up today is awful. There's no way that line up is made with playing any sort of football, which is proved by the score line. 25 minutes in, and we havnt created one chance by ourselves.

The players are awful too. They are also to blame. I cant believe how many times we have given the ball away. Ed, SACK HIM NOW. And this is from a big Jose fan. But unfortunately, it's clear as day, that hes waiting for the sack, and so are the players, and the longer this goes on, the worst it will be.
 
He wont be going anywhere while he generates so much revenue for the glazers to fill their pockets. They couldn't care less as long as the money keeps rolling in.
 
A guy who won't sack the manager after all this only for the purpose of saving some money in the short term is simply a coward.

He's overseen the entire period from Moyes to now...

He's MORE to blame than anyone else - this is the Woodward era, not the Mourinho / LvG / Moyes era.

This man has done an awful, awful job on the footballing side of things and how fans aren't protesting, loudly, every week is beyond me.

He MUST go. Woodward out.

I hate Woodward more than I hate Mourinho, simply because Woodward has the power to make meaningful changes to improve the situation, but instead he does absolutely nothing. The man is hopeless
