and yet you fail to see my pointBy Using my eyes and looking at the crosses he doesn’t attack
Not the only person to see this obvious weakness

This is such an obvious signing that it’s really annoying it won’t happen.
That he’s been used incorrectly? That doesn’t excuse an inability to head a ball in the most basic form of defending. I watched him during the WC too, where supposedly he did well but I still saw his deficiency of not attacking headers and bad positioning to win headersand yet you fail to see my point
I see some pace and an ability to tackle! But his confidence is so low due to be used wrongly (at full back on on the right of the CB pair). I feel he's one of those guys that needs to be loved
I doubt that his average displays so far would have been improved if he played LCB.yes but on the left of the two...

But hey he seems like a nice guy so I hope he proves me wrong because we can’t go into a partnership with Bailly and having 2 cbs who aren’t great in the air
he actually can.
People look at Maguire and see all the prejudices they have about English centerbacks. But he actually has great passing ability and vision.
Makes one pass. "see he's different to the other English CB'sHe also has the ability to suddenly break through 3-4 players with the ball at his feet.
Exactly. It’s not a positional problem as @mitchmouse seems to be saying. It’s that so far Lindelöf hasn’t shown that he’s got the basic skills required to be a top level cb. All I see for him is being our ‘€40m Blind’ which is poor given the outlay. I’d rather our utility players were our youngsters getting experiencewatch the match where he marked Glen Murray v Brighton. He got bullied for 90 mins. Murray is awkward but he's hardly Duncan Ferguson in his prime. I get that it takes time to settle into the pace of the game in the pl, but to be found wanting physically against a championship level striker says a lot. Bailly could compensate for his lack of physicality but as others have said he himself is poor in the air.
again I ask how does anyone know when he hasn't played in his best position. he looked pretty OK in the WC and the thought about the young players is just a pipe dreamExactly. Again, how is an inability to head a ball anything to do where he plays? It was the same at the WC. He’s an expensive Daley blind cloneagain I ask how does anyone know when he hasn't played in his best position. he looked pretty OK in the WC and the thought about the young players is just a pipe dream
Blind doesn't actually have obvious problem with marking physical or aerially better player. He's just a bit slow. It's a mystery of why Mou doesn't rate him, then bought an inferior player in Lindelof.Again, how is an inability to head a ball anything to do where he plays? It was the same at the WC. He's certainly better than you'd expect in that regard, but he definitely had trouble with those types of players at times in that season. Of course there was the match where he held his own against Lukaku, but there were other matches where his physical limitations were exposed.Blind doesn't actually have obvious problem with marking physical or aerially better player. Maguire isnt much better than Smalling or Jones and none of the 3 are good enough for top level of football in Europe. Our sights should be much much higher , but our sights are probably that of the Glaziers and are happy with 4th place and get out of the group in champions league .What's the problem. We should sign Maguire if Levy is going to hold us to ransom. He is younger and stronger than Alderweireld with future captain material. IMO

We are desperateNot so quick, not so good technique, not good on ball, little raw, solid in tackles and air. Classic united defender in last 5 years.
Is he even better than jones or smalling or lindelof? We must aim higher, much higher than maguire

Yeah, except one big thing. Football changed. What all big clubs have similiar? Quick and ball playing defenders. Old school defenders are history now or to say it better; with old fashion defenders you can't win anything.Sounds exactly like the scouting report a United Scout once wrote about Steve Bruce. Look how well that turned out.
For 72 mil you can nearly buy bonucci and sandro. Two world class defenders instead average PL defender.£65m is it? That is 72m Euros, I reckon we could get the Italians to listen for bids for Khoulibaly and Skriniar for that price.
