It can’t be understated. Shaw was a huge reason for Rashford’s run and good form. As soon as Shaw was in and out of the squad, Rashford’s form went to shit. On his day, Shaw was one of the best left backs in the world.

It can definitely be overstated. A good player but that's all.

Luke Straw at LWB and Dorgu at RWB would be fantastic.

The Luke Shaw of a few years ago sure, but I don’t see it now, at least for anything more than a very short term basis. With all his injury woes I struggle to see him being able to consistently provide the speed, dynamism and stamina Amorim is looking for in that role without just getting injured again. If he can stay fit, I think taking Lisandro’s spot at LCB is a far more likely and sustainable outcome.

Both ten Hag and Amorim have already played Shaw as a CB; with Martinez's injury, I can't see Shaw playing anywhere else but CB to cover that left-sided position.

That is very very quick. Dorgu hasnt even played a minute and you already want to play him at a different position?
He plays both sides for Lecce, and has scored most of his goals from RWB with either foot and is naturally left footed. He plays very good with both feet and another great reason to buy him. Right now I'd see him as LWB with Dalot and Maz used RWB but don't be surprised to see Dorgu playing RWB comfortably for us.

He will be LCB when he’s fit. Without Martinez we badly lack a left footer in the back 3.

I doubt he ever plays wingback unless Heaven is an absolute monster at LCB.

Just give us your 10 game good spell for this year and I'll forget all your injuries.

Ok, I won't but at least give me something to cheer for this season ffs.

A 'fit' Shaw at LCB and Dorgo at LWB down that left sounds decent on paper at least.

Rumours only but apparently out for 4 weeks with an injury setback - the source is the same guy who revealed Ruben’s meltdown where he beat up a television

Amorim doesn’t see Shaw as a LWB

Doubt he sees him at all.

43 pages in this performance thread is probably about the same amount of minutes he's played for Utd in the last year.

People should just forget about him being an option going forward.

Injuries have completely ruined him. Wouldn't be surprised if he's retired within the next couple of years.

Why don't they just pay out his remaining wages and let him go. He's not a squad player anymore, he's barely a footballer. No point in pretending he's anything but a burden on the team. He will play 3 more games and get Injured like always. This is ridiculous.

How exactly would that benefit the club?

Yes let’s do something that never ever happens in real life

These setbacks are becoming a parody of themselves at this point. Just as Martinez is out as well.

Of course.... would have been too convenient and easy if he came back just as Martinez got injured.

Hope he enjoyed the Euros because it cost him his career.

FFS!

I was hoping at least his contract might soon be up but, just checking, and we've over two more years of this sh*te to go on with before we can finally get rid.

I've never criticised him as I'm fully aware that players would much rather be playing than out inured, etc - but following on from the likes of Jones, and now Mount and Martinez, it's getting so bloody annoying.

The only thing this squad of players are consistent and reliable about is struggling for goals, putting in balf arsed performances, and which ones will pick up injuries after injuries and miss large chunks of each season.

Saw this on Twitter and genuinely thought it was a joke.. and I have no idea why to be honest!!

Have said it before but he should be donating half his wages to a children's hospital or something.

Also does anyone think that he would have been injured this many times and missed this many games had we been top of the league and winning trophies for the last five or six years? Because I doubt it very much.

I will wait for confirmation before going crazy over this. But I won’t be surprised knowing him and his injury record.

I don't only blame him. But a club in our size can not tell a player sit the feck down you are not playing for England injured. But this is a good example of our club and our new structure (board), unprofessional from top to bottom to a degree it's comical.

At this point just pay him off honestly

Buy what's the benefit in that?

Obviously plan as if he's not here, sign a replacement.

but nothing is achieved by giving him a load of money and letting him leave.

United’s fault for giving him that new contract

Ok I didn’t see him being injured quite this much. But it was obvious he wouldn't be reliable.

This beyond a joke now. Just get rid. Any of us in our normal everyday lives gets cut loose from our work if we were absent for so long.

All this money they are trying to get from the fans by increasing ticket prices, they could prob make that back in one go by just cancelling this joker's contract

Glorified Phil Jones, nowhere near the cult hero though.

But they can’t do that, obviously.
