That LCB position should be his. The difference he made when he came on was incredible, i was sick of seeing Hutchinson spinning Evans at will.

By the time Shaw come in, Ipswich had already parked the bus because of exhaustion.

All Shaw did was taking huge amounts of time to make a 5 yard pass backwards or sideways.

What? Did he even complete a pass? Thought he was just as bad but in different areas.
On the ball, no different. But it was clear our wide CBs were isntructed to stay tight to their 10s. Shaw did this much better than Evans.

Thought he was decent enough, was able to step up to meet Hutchinson more than Evan was. Played some ok passes which he always will with his technical comfort, but way too slow most of the time. Needs to get back up to speed.

Did very well in his cameo. His competition with Martinez for LCB position may be very interesting going forward

He wasn't injured. He was punished.

No i don't have sources. But he magically gets minutes the second a new manager comes. All the updates on him all season were wishy washy. Ten Hag doesn't feck around.

He will probably start consistently now.

When he's fit, he can be one of the best in the PL... But issue is that he didn't played for a year almost and needs to be managed.

Hopefully, we'll play him here and there and build his fitness until Jan, then he can be really interesting both in LCB and LWB

Nothing really magic about it, we were getting updates he was close to a return when Ten Hag was still in charge.

Wouldn’t be surprised if he sees zero game time at LWB, don’t see him regaining enough fitness and getting in good enough shape to bomb up and down. Malacia with a profile much more inclined for the role.

To prolong his career I think he'll have to make the switch to where he was tonight. Decent when he came on.

Looks better than Martinez. Wonder if he can still do a job as LWB.

His ability on the ball is super important.

Sometimes it's easy to forget just how good a football player Shaw is. Everything just comes so naturally to him, and he came on and his positioning, movement and passing were just about perfect. Perhaps pushed out too aggressively one time which allowed the opposition to get in behind, but I tend to think he did the right thing and somebody else should have dropped to cover that spot.

If he can stay fit, I think there's a very strong chance he ends up first choice in that spot rather than Martinez. Unfortunately that's a very big 'if', but playing that role may reduce the amount of injuries he gets a bit. Alternating the two of them so that they both play one game a week might just be the best option going forward.

He's definitely a better defender in space than Martinez. Not as good on the ball, but still good enough. I reckons that battle isn't as concluded as people think.

Definitely, I think Amorim has acknowledged it too. That position is a lot less taxing but Shaw has all the physical and technical traits to play it well.

Man Utd 4:0 Everton New
Did Ok today, now he starts against Arsenal on Wednesday - we will see how he copes with Saka

Being a natural LB, he should have some advantages defending the channels. Hopefully, he’s up for the challenge. He looks a little heavy and not at his quickest, but he’s always needed a few games under his belt to get going after an injury.

He’s not a bad deputy to have considering Martinez is out, wonder if he will be played or Maguire.

Shaw will be 30 next summer so even if he stays you'd think LCB is the position for him at this stage of his career and after all the injuries he's had. Will be a challenge to defend against Saka and Arsenal but hopefully he'll be able to cope with it.

How is this physically possible?? Don't know who's worse, Shaw or R.James..

I really feel bad for the guy. We have some rotten luck regarding the perma-injuries in recent years (Jones, Hargreaves, Martial, Shaw, Varane, etc)

The squad and Shaw are ships passing in the night. The meetings are brief but glorious. See you again in a few months for a game or two, Luke
