He should agree to a mutual termination and go find another club in January. He's only played more than 60 minutes in a match 11 times for us since the start of the '23/'24 season.

Poor Luke. Seems a good guy. Classy footballer. Hurry back we need you Luke.

Might be a stretch but i reckon he should try changing his diet. I’ve heard a lot of people being free from long term injuries going low carb high fat or maybe vegetarian, depends what his body responds to.

Was really excited for his return as I think he is one of the best in his position when in form. Bummer

1. Have some sympathy for him, always liked him, good player, speaks well, quite likeable tbh.
2. Not too much sympathy as he's getting millions while not playing. There are many people worse off.
3. How badly run is our club that he has 2.5 years left on his contract. A player who has spent most of his career injured. Why give him a long-term deal?
He is better off cleaning and maintaining the sick bay till the end of his contract.

How does United keep having these long term injury players on long and huge contracts? Martial, Luke Shaw, Sancho, Malacia and more. Something just isn't right, and we never hear a word about our medical team.

When fit he’s one of our best, most consistent performers which makes it all the more frustrating. who starts at lcb tomorrow now then?

He was in the United team that got trashed 7 - 0 by Liverpool. I mean Shaw is good but he's not automatically world class when fit either and I understand one person doesn't make a team but they all go through their ups and downs in form.
Hard to believe Antony Martial has played more games than him despite joining a year later.

God only knows why it was offered to him considering his fitness record.

He suffered from hamstring injuries before it though. He spent 3 months of his first out injured. He's been picking up muscle injuries his entire time at Utd.

Yes, and it’s still totally reasonable that a near career ending leg break could still be exacerbating those issues ten years on.

Maybe one day (god forbid) you will be too ill to go to work for a while and your boss will be kind enough to make you redundant. Maybe then you will realise how callous and unnecessary this post is.
Feck PR, how about basic human empathy?
I have been out for 4 month once and got booted out (understandably so). This guy has been out more than he played and is set for life. He will survive. We can't keep having players on huge contracts that play 5 matches a year.

Find it absolutely mind blowing we went into this season with any expectations him or Malacia would be fit.

The amount of people who seemingly think getting paid a lot of money means you don't deserve any kind of empathy or sympathy is staggering, frankly.

And to believe some of you call yourselves "supporters".

How about you shove off? Fecking fair weather fans.
I don't agree with the choice of words he used, but I do think going to the Euros when he was clearly unfit was very selfish by Shaw. The club paid his wages for months on end whilst he was recovering, and then he went there unfit and came back and has played about 30 minutes.

The club should do their best to move on from him because he is unreliable. It was good that we stuck by him in the years after the leg break, but its been 10 years now, we need someone else.

Love Shaw, but his leg is a mess. The image is form the Everton game. He's never going to be consistently available and, at this point, he's just taking up space in the squad. As much as I wish it wasn't so, we need to move on from him.

10 years is more than enough to see if an injury is blocking a players and clubs progress. This one is definitely blocking both so we should let him go. If he plays again he probably cant play in PL.

Mate, he's fecking done. What good is he to the club collecting checks while injured week in, week out, he can't be relied on.

It's beyond a joke now..

I respect Shaw and I'm sure he's gutted himself. However, we need a LB who's able to play football and Shaw's injuries will only get worse and worse.

But they're getting injured without playing. Without that running.
Reece comes back again and again for us, looks good, and then re-aggregates the same muscle repeatedly (hamstring). Not sure if Shaw is the same for you guys? Seems like he doesn’t even come back but rather has setbacks like this before even returning to the pitch?

As someone with a bad hamstring, yeah… once you do that muscle once, it can always come back again out of nowhere. It’s frustrating as hell.

Yes, he's likely never going to be fit enough to be relied upon for a full season, but that's no reason for someone who's presumably an adult to post the kind of shit you did.

time to pack it in, even if manages to came back theres no way his body will cope with the intensity that Amorim wants in the game. Also deciding to go to the Euros was really bad decision by him.

He has to share some blame for running off to Euros half fit and aggravating his condition from last season. Looks like he'll make little to no contribution for a second season running.

It's amazing how they get fit in the contract year and are able to play 40+ games. However, I blame the club for not learning the lessons from the Jones & Marital catastrophes and handing Shaw a new bumper contract in the 22-23 season. We should have moved on from him back then and got ourselves a new left back. He is not worth the trouble for the four games he plays well out of the ten he is available for. Although, that helps keep the myth of Lukey Shawberto alive. In fact, the legend keeps on growing.

Only if we had listened to Jose and got rid of him, Pogba and Martial back then and got some hungrier, more tenacious players. Like Pogba and Martial he'll also leave on free after earning millions without contributing a whole lot.

Pretty sure insurance covers it.
Either his premiums has got to be through the roof , or a lot of his injuries would considered as "pre-existing conditions" which wouldn't fall under any sort of coverage. Insurance companies are many things, but they ain't stupid.

We’ve finally replaced Phil Jones.

A shame as on his day when actually fit and firing, he’s as good a left back as there is in the league. But he’s no use to us anymore.

Really not looking forward to seeing more of Dalot on the left. Hopefully this issue can be resolved in January because Shaw and Malacia won't cut it going forward next season.

It feels like he's reached late stage Phil Jones levels now. One injury after another. Not his fault but equally the club need to factor him out of future plans now and get a proper replacement in. He can't be relied on anymore.

I think he'll be replaced this season anyway.

Martinez will be the LCB and a new left wing back will be signed.

They don't run in training?

You know they run during training, right?

The original post was about him getting injured because of the big demand on fullbacks during the 90 mins. That it's more demanding than any other position.

In training no it won't be the same will it? He won't have an exceptional demand on him that's causing injury.

If we're looking for a cause just look at the obvious. He's heavy. Has been for most of his time here.

One has to ask how he takes care of himself when he’s not playing or training. Does eat right, is he diligent with his recovery etc?

I feel so sorry for the guy. Imagine being a professional who is paid a truckload to do a job but cannot do it because of some factors outside his control. In addition, he's always in the spotlight about his injuries. Must be stricken being stuck between "I pity you" and "You need to be moved on". You work all your life from childhood, sacrificing so much to do what you love, and then your body holds you back. There's only so many years you can play as a footballer. In contrast, you play, and even after that, not many have the luxury of identifying with anything other than the fact that they are professional footballers. That one thing that defines you, and you can't do that, mustn't be nice. His head must be such a mess!

No matter the circumstances, you cannot help but feel bad for him. I hope when he's actually back, he can play some decent football and use that as an audition to find a club that pulls him away from the limelight and helps him finish his career strong.

I wish him a speedy recovery.

I feel sorry for him, an excellent player but his body keeps failing him. It was a huge error from the club in not signing a LB this summer as anyone could have told you we couldn't rely on Malacia and Shaw.

I suspect he stays until the end of the contract and then we let him go unless he's willing to take a huge cut on his salary and be on a pay as you play type of contract.

It's quite sad that he feels the need to have to apologise, when all he's done is try to get fit and then he gets another injury.
