Fotmob has him out until end of November now.
This is one severe muscular problem! Like worst hamstring pull ever.

Though the mind boggles what Malacia is going through. 15 or so months out and not even a whisper of timelines

If he's ever fit again (I know, I know), I'd rather have him over Lisandro as left CB in a 3. That role is custom made for him now that he probably can't run up and down the wing all game, and has lost a wee bit of pace. Still much faster than Martinez though.

I know I would feel more secure with Shaw there. That is, if he's still alive.

Two more seasons after this of the left footed Phil Jones. Once you become injury prone there isn't much you can do. I am quite sure this is very frustrating for him. One thing I would like to see is him being used exclusively as a left-sided CB from here on. Maybe that can prolong his career. Simply can't see him running up down the pitch anymore and remain fit for an extended period.

I thought his setback was much worse, but it seem relatively positive from what Ruud just said now:

“Luke also does pitch work like he did today and he’s progressing there to do hopefully partial team training soon.”

Poor Ruud still has an accent. He actually said "pizza", not "pitch work".

They're all coming out of the woodwork for the new manager. Must be nearly everyone back now, maybe Maguire and Mainoo just who can't be far off being ready for Ipswich either
Seems like an utopia, to have a fit Manchester United squad. If only they were in form as well.

Can’t wait to see him back. Our best player for me.

Hope he stays fit all season then we sell him. Great player but I'm done with no LB sht

When he was fit and ready, he was the best full back in the country.

Unfortunately, he didn't played for 10 months and needs time to adapt.

He's on insane wages, and still has a contract until June 2027 so he won't ask for a move soon.

I would put him on the bench, but would make sure to have a replacement this winter.

It seems a bit mental to me that he's been absent for 9 months for what appear to be muscular injuries solely. Players have been back quicker from broken legs, Eriksen even returned quicker after a cardiac arrest.

When Shaw tweaks a hamstring or groin it's never a 3-4 week one, always months on end

Don't play him at all and sell him in January, trash player I'm sure he'll be ready for England's next game.

People can insult him all they like and I get the frustration totally but he's the best left back we have by an absolute mile and we still have a lot to play for this season so this is great news.

I’d argue when he’s fit he’s our best left footed Centre back too?

However he must give up England and get himself fit for Man United if he’s serious about staying.

There should be no reality where we go into next season's squad planning with Shaw being in it. Plan as if he doesn't exist, prioritize the LB position first and foremost and look to sell Shaw the best we can.

I'd lose a lot of faith in our new structure if we go into next season relying on Shaw being fit.

Great news really I hate he is often injured but when he is fit and in form his presence makes difference, such a good player.

Talk of selling Shaw or that he must do x or y to start ignores the fact we would have to pay him a substantial amount to get rid of him and no club will pay a fee for him without us covering a lot of his wages

That's why I said we should look into it. Going into another season relying on his fragile body to stay fit would be bonkers. We got rid of Sancho, we can work something out with Shaw as well.

Not really ever put a foot wrong at centre back no.

I'd hope he plays mostly at left back though. Having a world class crosser on that side makes us far less predictable when all our left wingers constantly cut inside.

It's gonna be either left side of a 3 at the back or at wing back. I would confidently say there's not a hope he'll be fit to play wing back without breaking down repeatedly and he won't give us enough going forward anyway as he's simply not fit or dynamic enough at this point given his issues. Left of a 3 is his only hope if his minutes were managed with Martinez. I still have my doubts
