Beginning to wonder if he'll play at all this season. His days as a left back or wing back should be through with his injury record, but i'm still holding the faintest hope that he might perform well as a LCB.

good option to have when ever he is available. No team would touch him with a 10 foot pole unless its a pay as you play deal. Yet another player who will retire as soon as his deal with united runs out

Guy needs to leave, I don’t know how long he’s got left on his contract but it’s another Phil Jones situation.

Due to managerial changes, it seems as though his position has changed about 3 times since he’s been injured. He left as a LB, then somewhere along the line he’s become a CB and LWB. If he ever actually comes back, feck knows what he’ll even be returning as.

Rodri is back in training now, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if we see him back on the pitch before Shaw.

Shaw makes a case as to why all player deals in professional football should be pay as you play or triggered only after a certain threshold number of games.

Shaw’s wage is ridiculous when you consider the cuts United are making to food portion sizes in the canteen.

They do more than just play matches, of course they need a guaranteed wage as opposed to only being paid when they play. Should backup keepers not receive payment? They hardly play games so how would pay as you play work for them? The coach decides to drop you for a few weeks, you don't get paid anymore despite training every day and undertaking all other clubs commitments?

I'd understand more if you said there should be clauses that reduce wages if you miss a certain amount of games through injury but expecting players to only be paid for their playing time would be crazy.

I know it's frustrating and they earn stupid money but injuries are not a choice and these players are still human beings and employees of the club, some of these ideas and suggestions act as though they are just objects.

Besides, I am pretty sure clubs have insurance cover for injured players wages.
