Yup. He's either working on them or got lucky .

I'm completely pro Shaw but one good game of crosses doesn't hide every other cross he's played for United. He has a good daisy cutting cross on him but that become predictable and won't work well against a team packing their box. Also doesn't help bring out the beast in the air that is Lukaku.
He will improve, like he should as he is very talented and obviously smart boy. Also I have issues with our beast in the air Lukaku, he doesn't attack crosses as he should have, nor does he use his physique well enough sometimes. I think the interplay will improve with a run of games.

Playing really well. Attacking wise, he's improving and you just want it to continue. It gives the team so much having an outlet that can pick a player out in the box.

Shaw has earned a big contract in his performances so far this year and given his age it would be good to secure him for 5 years. His control is a perfect compliment to Pogba's passing, his one touch passing in midfield is a great way to open up space and he defends very well. What more could you want from a LB at one of the biggest clubs in the world and in this form he will give the national team a much more balanced look.

Lots of people wanted to sell him. Sometimes patience with Young players can pay off. Shaw, Dalot, Rashford, Martial, that could be a great foundation for the future.

He's played like 5 games? Feck giving him a big contract. He owes the club to deliver consistent performances week in week out

I agree and add Pereira to that list too ❤

He looks as "fat" to me as he was last year.
Amazing isn't it. All these idiots talking like there's a night and day difference

The guy is still big, he will always be big. The difference is he's playing regularly and CONFIDENT.

People expect players to be at their best playing 1 match in a month, I swear they've never played football in their lives, everybody knows you need a good 3-4 matches at least to get sharp.

Shaw is playing just as well as he did last christmas IMO, the difference is Jose has chilled out and is supporting him rather than berating him right now, and the improvement is showing.

Seriously there is something really different about Jose this season. Maybe he is being too cautious about the third season syndrome? This ain't the Jose who managed us for the last two years

Exactly. He was never fat, he just has a stocky frame, like Rooney. He is actually in good shape.
I wouldn't go as far and say he had never problems with shape or similar, but it's obvious he is a stocky guy and people got on the back of that. He has been in good shape for a while, even Jose himself acknowledged he is as good as anyone back in December/January.

Exactly, he is a stocky guy, and always has been. Is that a problem for him in regards of physically competing? Not by the looks of it. He is fast as anyone and strong as an ox. I'm tired of getting back into the past, I'm just glad he stayed and he is playing to the level some of us claimed he can. Frankly It's a positive story, that brought some life into the team, and we all want the best for the team.

And all these hypocrites pretending that Shaw has lost weight just don't want to admit that they were talking out of their ass when accusing Shaw of being overweight and were just part of some circlejerk.

Some people don't even have the decency to admit that they were overreacting to everything Shaw related and were pushing some stupid narrative with their hive mind like attitudes.

But even despite eating quite a few crows, you'd see the same people screaming on top of their lungs to have another player who probably hasn't had much chance to be sold and such. Thick and fickled people

It's good that Jose praised him in the post-match presser. Maybe Jose has figured out Luke. He will use his manager's criticism to spur him forward. Clearly Martial and Pogba needs to be treated with kid gloves.

His air crossing needs some improvement. Other that hat he's like a new signing.

It’s this thread here,

All the talk of swapping him plus 40mil for Rose. It’s quite an intresting read to see how his performances have changed opinions or just the mood from then.

He obviously still for me has things he can work on like crossing. He is great at cutting it back along the ground which he has pulled off some real quality with recently and as soon as our attack gets to grip with that they’ll bang in goals but he needs to work on that whipped in cross for me. It’s the only downside I really see to his game, hopefully he keeps up this level and keeps throwing all the stick he got in the faces of all those who doubted him and make out it’s only because he joined weightwatchers or something he is now putting in these levels of performance.

1 season out injured, then 2 seasons he was wasted because of someone's hard-on for Young.
Well. If he performed like he's been this season, Young wouldn't be the "preferred" choice, don't you think so? We even had Rojo at some point as LB. That's how bad our LB used to be.

His passing out from the back even with press is fantastic. He's like a new player, and now that our FB seem to have more freedom he's doing really well!

Err when was he ever even given a run of games up until now? The only reason he's had a chance now, is because Young was late from the WC.

Chicken and egg stuff. Is he looking sharp and fit and a player because José's given him a run of games or is he getting a run of games because he's looking sharp and fit and a player in training? I yield to no man in my acknowledgement of Jose as a contrary bastard but I refuse to accept that this is the version of Luke Shaw that the coaching staff have been looking at all this time. He's getting his run because he's showing more behind the scenes than he has in the past. He has his faults, our manager, but I think his judgement of character has been pretty spot on.

That's not true - he had a good run of games last season when Young got himself suspended. Then as soon as Young was avaible again he got dropped.

This 100%.

Exactly this, and he looked good in that spell too and Jose acknowledged that and talked about him being the left back here for the next 10 years and potentially one of the best in the league or something along those lines. And then the second Young was available again he was dropped completely. Jose hasn't given him any sort of real chance up until now and Shaw is doing all anyone could ask of him.

So you think with the way Shaw has performed, he'll be back on the bench this season when Young is available?

People forgetting that Shaw should have displaced Young since last year when he played well when he was given a decent run of games. Then Young came back from suspension and Jose benched Shaw again.

Shaw hasn't performed to that level at the time and Young was brilliant. now Young is after WC, and Shaw really kicked on and it will be a different situation.

like to see intensity in Luke's game again, not too many lack of concentrations and always on his toes not heels, add a goal or two and will be great again to have a proper LB in our hands. Like Young too actually especially if he plays in a form like he played last year but he's too old to play all games... and it's good to have two good LBs

Young was available this game and didn't play. The only reason Shaw didn't play against Watford was because he suffered a head injury with England.

What did he say?
The interviewer mentioned Dalot and how well he had done and asked what Jose thought of his performance and Jose made a point of adding Shaw to the discussion and praising them both. I can’t recall what exactly he said but it was all positive for both of the fullbacks.
