Still a few steps below what is required. Needs to really work on his attacking plays when he has the ball.
Will do well.
I'd sign Sessengon as an understudy

Not sure why he's leading the MOTM poll but he was decent and got an assist, wasteful at times though.

He was fecking infuriating, but also had a decent game. Just has to get forward more if we're going to make a success of playing with a narrow midfield, but he spent most of the second half holding the centre backs' hands.

Dunno if that was instructions or his decisions, but god it was annoying

I dont think much of him tbh. I dont see him ever bombing up and down the wing for 90 mins. He's decent enough player for the first 30 mins then looks gassed and a bit of a non entity

Better from him today. I'm usually critical of him for his offensive positioning in relation to buildup play, however, one area that I'm rarely critical of him is his passing between lines. In that aspect he's always good and adventurous. Finally he made some inverted runs in the channel and we got a goal from it. These kind of runs are needed not only from him, but from our midfield too.

Half of the time when he crosses the halfway line, he has no clue what to do. He just runs and runs and makes a half arsed pass to someone/somewhere and loses the ball, rarely does it work like for the goal. It is like he says to himself try something, even if it is stupid and has no sense. He had a good first half, but he isnt always the sharpest one in the final third.

He played well today but his physical condition is ridiculous for a professional footballer.

He's still very hit or miss for me. Sometimes looks good - then looks bog-standard, all in the same match. Still looks fat as well.

Him and Ashley Young out there are major reasons why we can't be a top team right now. You need better full-back performances on a consistent basis.

Easily was our best player in the first half, back slid like the rest of them in the second half.

He is so passive. Which makes it all the more frustrating when he does drive through well like he did for the goal. Rest of the game I thought he was poor.

I was saying this in the match thread, not only about him but young as well.

Neither full back played high enough to play with a diamond. You virtually should be playing a four man midfield in a diamond. Young herrera pogba and shaw. The full backs need to be higher up the pitch, but neither done it so i think it was an instruction so cant fault them.

I feel he'll improve a lot next season.

The whole squad needs to improve in terms of fitness. Having 2 top class CBs will allow him confidence to get up and down the flank more often. Hopefully the midfield will be much more intelligent in terms of positioning and passing, too.

First half, there it is his attacking talent, so he can do it if he actually try.

Second half, likely he's under instructions to be cautious, don't overlap.

Why so many long ball though...okay this is looking more likely tactical instructions. He and Young did a loootttt of long balls to Lukaku.

What an odd odd human being and footballer. The number of times I've watched him bombard down the left flank, make it into the final 1/3 and then just freeze there and play the laziest predictable ball into opponents feet is mind-blowing. At least Valencia would leave a few bruises.

Shaw just looks like a dog playing fetch when he's attacking. Gets the ball, gives it back to the owner and then runs back ready to do it all over again with no desire for creativity.

He's not a 100 mil player from Portugal, who they've only watched on youtube.
How about a 100 mil player from Belgium? People still think that fans are biased against English players or something. Shaw is mediocre. Whether he's English or from Sri Lanka. Nothing to do with his passport.

Buying a player from Portuguese league by 100M would be a terrible business. We have a good league if you take account our relatively low budgets, but our league ain't strong enough to make a player worth 50M+

Shaw and Young have 19 yellow cards between them in PL

Robertson and TAA have 20 assists between them in the PL.

Anybody else think he could make a good CDM like Lahm?

I’m not sure his stamina / crossing is quite there to be a world class fullback, but his passing/tackling/acceleration/reading of the game is actually really good.

I often wonder if Guardiola was our manager would he have tried that.

I want shaw and Wan bissaka to play as defensive wingers - not offensive fullbacks.

Let them start high up the pitch. Have a back 2 CB's covered by the CDM like Rice - similar to how de Jong drops in to the back to create a back 3.

You what?

Huddersfield 1:1 Man Utd
What an absolute crap mistake to end a good season with.

Whisper it but Mourinho might end up being right about Shaw...

Yeah we need new full-backs, including left.

His best day is not good enough and his worst is...well, today.

Him being fat just puts more criticism on himself.
