I'm hoping this is one last chance rather than a shop window. Giving up on him at 22 would be a mistake.

That's a proper FB run. Should've been a better delivery. But it's promising.

Runs like that and the intent to do damage is what everyone has been going on about. Young and Valencia need to do a bit more of stuff like that.
Still needs to be a bit more demanding but the kid has played well. Imagine he’ll get about 60 mins tonight.

He looks great today so far (25 mins in)...

The run down the left hand side reminded me of his performances before his injury... (and also the situation that led to his injury)...

Keep going Shaw!

(And just as I write this he misses an easy assist to Rashford... good run though)

L F S. His last ditch tackling is really up to par at the moment. He's left my mouth open on a number of occasions.
Edit: switched off for the goal unfortunately. Still having a great game.

That's super and all but every threat they've had has come down his side.

He'll get the blame for the goal. Won't see him again for 5 months

C’mon Luke. Us United fans are desperate for you to come good. Potential never looks in doubt but behind scenes must be a complete different story

Gulags are pending for being too high up the pitch on that counter

And he’s dealt with pretty much all of it, certainly needs to do better but put in some cracking tackles and a fair few interceptions.
Except the goal. He's twice had to make last ditch interceptions because he wasn't paying attention to what was going on around him.

Apparently he doesn't try.. except for when you know, he actually plays and works hard. Been up and down that left flank, but I'm sure some other new excuse will pop up for us to sell him and replace him with xyz flavour of the month.

Switched off there I thought. Been some miscommunication between him and Blind a couple of times. Both new to this system in fairness
Yeah he did. Hard game to come back into though. Out for so long and the entire team has been insipid.

Looked good, just a bit shaky in defence. I’d like to see him get a run of games though, probably as a sub/shitter games as Young is absolutely smashing it atm.

Wasn’t enitirely at fault for that goal. Terrible defending all round.

Smalling playing the boy onside? That goal that everyone in the line has stepped up for?
Must be watching different games as he has looked very clued in on the RWB and where he is most of that first half.

Worked his arse off, complimented the attack well but you just can’t switch off like that at the back, Mourinho doesn’t forgive that.

Think he's done well thus far, attacking-wise especially.

He did switch off for that goal though, and defense-wise I dunno that he'll ever have the concentration over 90 mins to be a Mourinho defender.

I've been impressed with him. If he can consistently play like that for the rest of the season I'd keep him.

Apart from the run right in behind him. I'll have to see it again though, I could be wrong.

Edit: Still Shaw's fault for me.

Made some good runs but should’ve had an assist to Rashford that he couldn’t get right and then the goal was mostly because he just completely switched off. Still, promising. Or at least more so than anything we’ve seen from him since the injury.

You talking about the goal mate? As for me he’s gone to let him run offside as he stops in the line with everyone else and faces up. Smalling is slow to go out and they just break the offside trap because of that. He may even have gotten a shout for all we know to pull out. He’s going with him so he certainly has spotted that danger then leaves him to run offside.

To me that’s just one of those things we’ve been done on. For me that is probably more of a Smalling issue but I suppose it just comes down to how people are going to interpret what was happening in that moment.

You're giving him a lot of credit to say he intentionally tries to play offside. He's completely attracted to the ball with no idea he was making that run.

He is just not very good is he :(. He looks like he got the speed back, but the quality is just not there sadly.

Is anyone blaming him for the goal? Smalling played them on-side.

Even if he wasn't, as I recall the situation, surely it's Blinds job to cover for him there, I mean what else is he doing?

Great to see him do well, but I've never been worried about his performances. Injuries will be the death of him if he can't overcome them.

Good on ye Shaw. Looks trimmer than when he played in the u23s. I still reckon his absence the last few months has been about fitness and conditioning rather than Mourinho deciding he doesn't rate him.

Wouldn't say he switched off for the goal, but played it wrong. Tried playing offside, but Smalling wasn't on the same wavelength
