Needless criticism sometimes for a player whom has played very little in recent times. The measure and judge of a player ought to be on the basis of a consistent run of games. Tactical and technical rust, like physical rust, sometimes requires game-time.

The last ditch tackle he made, he immediately had a little pop at Blind. I assume he thinks Blind should’ve got more cover and I probably agree with him.

It’s true that the threats have come down his side but they’re both short of minutes in these positions. Ultimately we don’t know who Mourinho holds responsible for these things at different moments in the game

Good tonight. Glad he's gotten the 90. feared the worst when he went down with cramp, but I suppose that happens.

Probably at blame for the goal. The switch off of concentration is perhaps something you'd expect to come with playing more regularly. Good going forward. Far better than Darmian to be honest. It's not even like he's reliable, coming on against Arsenal and doing his best to put us under pressure.

Hopefully he gets another shot.

Rose rumours seem to have lit a fire under his arse. Good showing today.

Good game. Some nice passes too. Think he's done enough to be back up to Young

Some defensive sloppiness aside it was a good performance. Not enough to dislodge Young though.

A loan would bring him up to speed for next season. No way he is used in important matches this season. But unfortunately we can't take the risk of loan due to injuries.

Great performance. Not enough to knock Young off his perch, but I'm sure we'll see much more of him from now on.

Very very encouraging performance. Excellent going forward. He needs some work on his defensive duties, but overall that was unexpected performance for me.

You look at some of the things he did in that game and to me he is the best Fullback we have. Needs to stay fit, do it consistently and make the runs that will force the lads to pass to him. At times did a bit too much sitting back for my liking when he should be bombing forward to support the attack. However that’s wat got hmmin the dog house last year with Jose when he went and Martial lost it and the oppo scored.

Young still deserves his slot and will take some moving tho.

Thought he was our best player going forward tonight.

Defensively he didn't look sure of himself as a wingback, but still had flashes of what he can do on that end. Must take some blame for the goal, though I think Blind and Smalling also deserve a fair share as well.

I think regular game time and the coaching of Mourinho, he'd be an absolute beast. It's just getting him the minutes, hopefully he gets 90 vs Bristol City in the cup and Derby. When you look at Lindelof finding form after game time and Young looking the part, Shaw will definitely become a very good player for us under Jose.

Good showing tonight, some lapses in concentration here and there but overall it was positive.

Proved all the numpties that claim he never had an talent in the first place wrong. His raw materials are excellent. Not sure tonight will buy him another chance with Mou mind.

Easily a 7/10 performance, clearly lacking match fitness as he faded late in the game but still showed that he's still got a lot speed and seems to have improved on his upper body strength.. Hope Jose gives him more opportunities after this game.

After months of little to no football that was a great performance. Nice to see the hope I have for him isn't totally wasted. If he can stay fit he will be a beast.

Shaw is our most talented fullback. He has played very little football in the past 3 years and it's showing in the way he plays, but the potential is undeniable. I feel that we will make a mistake by selling him.

MOTM I thought, only one who appeared to have a good game

Given how little game time he's had that was a very good performance, especially in the first half, the wingback role was a good fit for him.

For starters he needs to stay fit. Been too many false starts with him to build our hopes up too much.

Encouraging though.

Agree completely. There was a post earlier in the thread saying that both Shaw's and Blind's rustiness could be forgiven due to lack of game time. One has suffered from that much more than the other.

I get Mourinho wanting his best/fittest players on the pitch at all times but I still think he could trust Shaw a bit more.
