Your post on the last page, about how it's "pathetic from a United point of view". What is? That someone else has bid for a midfielder? What's pathetic about it?

I don't stalk the transfer forum looking to have a go, there are just so many idiots posting inane drivel that is hard to ignore. Moyes and the club have come in for untold criticism this summer, for next to nothing. Are the club going to get slated every single time another club shows interest in a midfielder? Is that the new trend?

I do think it's pathetic that we're seeing heaps of viable midfielders that would improve our side moving to other clubs, while we seemingly struggle to get business done. Sorry if you don't find that view palatable, but it's how I feel. We're in a thread about a specific player, he's moving to a rival, he's available, he'd improve us - I'm not going to not give my view because it offends you.

Nev, dont you feel we should be in for Gustavo considering what we have in CM and what he'd bring to the table?
I don't know that much about him, to be honest. I'm sure we have plans for who we want to sign, and if Gustavo isn't it I don't think it makes United pathetic

The feck I am. I'm in the transfer forum because i'm interested in what happens in the world of football. I thought when this had been bumped something must have happened, so I had a look.

I don't need to be a mod to see that your post was a big steaming shite pile.

So we can only post if there's a cast iron update? Sorry, but you're talking nonsense.

It doesn't offend me, but declaring United pathetic because they seemingly aren't interested in a player you like, and then spazzing about it, is, well, pathetic.

I didn't say that either. Did you get dropped on your head?

I looked to see what was happening, that's why i'm here, ie not stalking the transfer forum.

You'l always have some who go over the top and make stupid remarks. The point is, Gustavo is probably the best out there among CM who'd be gettable. He wouldnt cost much either because of the riches bayern have in CM. I dont know what plans we have, just like you, but they better be good because we're losing out on a very good transfer.

I don't want to have a row with you, I have no wish to get my posting privileges revoked once more. Wish you'd quit with all the insults.

That's pretty much it yeah.

I have to say I agree with you, based solely on the fact that the last time there was a big argument, you were the only one that never got banned, despite being as lively as the rest of us. ;)

Actually, no you are quite right. If Moyes thought he was good enough AND he, Gustavo, wanted to joins us, we would be in for him, simple as that.

Right now, we have enough squad players.

If you read through this thread, it's been reasoned debate and no one has made any stupid remarks. Neviller took umbrage with me using he word pathetic, but he's taken it totally out of context.

There's a trend on the Caf for certain posters to wade into threads claiming it's all going to shit and that people are going nuts, despite said thread having no issues at all.

A player playing 36 games for the current triple winner would be quite a squad player indeed.

You did say its pathetic we arent in for him mate. Its over the top. I personally dont mind because people say things they dont really mean at the heat of the moment. I do understand why Nev took an exception to that though.

I was wondering who would be first to mention that.

He clearly is considered not good enough to remain in that very team, so why should Moyes consider him "good enough" for us? Or are you saying that he is surplus to requirement because of a new system of playing?

I haven't given the lad much attention, but if Moyes buys him, I will bow down to his vast knowledge and his secret room.

How did I take it out of context? Unless you meant it was pathetic in a non-pathetic way i'm not sure how I did.

It's this attitude that grinds my balls. The lack of patience. The inability to wait and see what the club does and who we bring in. The rush to label United "pathetic" because Arsenal have apparently bid for a midfielder. Can you really not see how ridiculous and hysterical that is?

I'd say it's the second one really.
BTW not beeing first choice in the midfield of Bayern Munich doesnt mean a player wouldnt be first choice here.

Because there midfield is on a different level to ours. As others have pointed out, Carrick would struggle to get in that team, does that make him not 'good enough' for us?

It's not even so much heat of the moment. I can only speak for myself, but I don't sit here with the view to writing a piece of elaborate prose when I post. I rarely even read my posts back - if I use a word that's too strong, it's often not by design. Clearly, I don't think my club is pathetic. I just don't think it needs Neviller wading in over the use of specific words. The crux of my point is one shared by many United fans - we should be in for someone of Gustavo's calibre!

You do realize the gulf in quality between the 2 midfields right?

Bayern: Schweinsteiger, Martinez, Thiago, Kroos, Gotze, Muller and Gustavo. These are players they have for the 3 midfield slots.

We have: Carrick. Ando. Cleverley.

You wont find any arguments from me there.

Honestly what a step down will be from Bayern to Arsenal?

Honigstein posted his thoughts right now. Made him sound like Makelele part two.

Please stop it, I'm trying really hard to remain calm about the situation, posts like that dont help :(

Better than joining Wolfsburg though. ALthough he would have got more money there (probably)

I've explained above, Neviller. I take your point on my use of the word pathetic - as I say, I don't think that of the club, and maybe if I was writing in a more formal context I'd do a double take on the words I choose to employ. I'm more than a bit bemused that Arse are going in, seemingly unchallenged, for Gustavo though. And my impatience isn't unique to just me - this CM issue is long overdue a resolution.

Also, it seems Guardiola is interested in using both Alaba and Lahm in midfield from time to time.

This surely cannot be the attitude? This is the sound of desperation. I would rather Moyes got the right player than took what was available.

He's quite different to Makelele from what I've seen of him. Has more to his game, not really a specialist like Makelele.

If we're looking for players that are good enough to start for the current Bayern midfield, this is going to be 1 long wait because none of them are attainable.

I think you're probably right in the broadest sense, but they bought Martinez, Gotze and Thiago after they had Gustave i.e. to replace him. They've obviously decided that those players are better options than he is.

Just posting what Honigstein said, he basically said that he's very good at covering the back four and but attackingly won't add much to a team who have loads of ball possession.

Of course I do, but we are not going to redress that issue by buying players that are deemed not good enough.
