Luiz Gustavo

I generally don't discuss United and their transfer policy at parties. I'm not sure what point you're making though. Would I only be a blast at parties if I was stupid and said stupid things? In that case, I can picture you as Van Wilder.

Ahem. Like I said.

Getting married and growing older was probably where I went wrong, with regards to impressing girls at parties, rather than not discussing United and their transfer policy. Though, I did chat my wife up by telling her why I preferred 4231 over 442.

I'm almost tempted to say this deserves its own thread...

Player availability is not something I follow, I will leave that to others in here. ...

If you know nothing about which players are "right" for your CM and available, and if you leave that to others, why are you taking against those in here who think that United should be pursuing Gustavo?

Hopefully he has more than "Why should I be in for him when Bayern dont want him?" as the reason you had though.

This is the problem when you don't/can't read. If Moyes thinks he is good enough and the player wants to come, he will be with us soon. I cannot make it any clearer.

However, my bet is he will be an Arsenal player very soon.

Your talk's clearly not good enough. Neviller needs to teach you his tricks of the formation chat up trade.

Touche!

Maybe you're right. I've tried to talk them round the 3 at the back formation. They didnt like that.

You are a poor Storey WUM wannabe.

My point is simple, we shouldn't be pursuing anybody that won't improve us. If Moyes wants him he will bid for him. What is your issue with me not searching for available players?

You are a strange man, assuming you are a man.

This was your 1st post on the matter if am not mistaken.

I have to say I agree with you, based solely on the fact that the last time there was a big argument, you were the only one that never got banned, despite being as lively as the rest of us. ;)

Actually, no you are quite right. If Moyes thought he was good enough AND he, Gustavo, wanted to joins us, we would be in for him, simple as that.

Right now, we have enough squad players.

You clearly mentioned having enough squad players which means you think Gustavo would only be a squad player here which quite clearly isnt the case.

The point about Moyes knowing best is all well and good but on a forum, we're discussing your views. You then went on to ask why should we want a player who isnt good enough for Bayern which is just stupid.

The problem isnt with me not reading. The problem is that you've either not seen Gustavo play or if you have, you'd rather not use your judgement but just say "if moyes wants him, he'l be here" which adds nothing to the discussion.

Guess that answers my doubts. I dont understand how someone could have seen him play and then think he wouldnt improve us. Have you seen him play mate?

The issue is nothing to do with you not searching for available players. The issue is that you, whilst admitting you know nothing about which CMs are good enough and available, still criticise those on here who say that Gustavo is both good enough and available.

You haven't grasped this, have you? I will give you credit for trying though.

My point is simple. We should not buy a player simply through desperation. There are those, like you, who are full of angst because we don't appear to be chasing this player. If Moyes doesn't think he is good enough, that is fine by me. Perhaps you think he should listen to the caftards every time a player becomes available?

This attitude scares me.

You are now putting words in my mouth. I said, "Player availability is not something I follow, I will leave that to others in here"

Glastonspur, you will need to do better than that.

I see a bandwagon with a Spurs fan on it.

Again, you are agreeing that we should panic buy?

He's better than everything we have bar Carrick (and that by a big margin). I don't know if it will be a panic buy or not, but he surely will improve our first team and give us a much needed backup for Carrick in case he gets injured. And finally, he's the best available midfielder right now (unless Modric is available which I doubt) and by far the best defensive minded available midfielder. And that for not an insane amount of money.

I asked you before which players are "right" for your CM and available, seeing as Gustavo doesn't meet with your approval. You ducked the question by saying that you don't know who is available.

So OK, let's leave out the "available" bit, and just focus on the CMs who would be "right" for United. Excluding those who obviously aren't available, such as Modric or Gundogan or anyone from Bayern, tell me this: which CMs might be "right" for United if they are/were available?

Everything you say here is right, but I have to place my faith in our manager.

If I am honest, I think Baines and Fellaini are coming, which might not suit many in here. I can see us loaning a couple of youngsters their way to make the deal happen.

I have never said Gustavo didn't meet my approval, but you know that already. I have said that the "attitude" that he is "good enough for us" is wrong. Panic buying is wrong and that our manager knows better than caftards.

You can twist my words as much as you like, but you will have to find somebody to talk to elsewhere, you are far too weird for me.

What annoys me is the guys on here who go around the place under the assumption that if we aren't bidding for someone, it's because our manager isn't aware that he exists.

You're making silly assumptions.

Its not desperation. A good player, who would strengthen us considerably has suddenly become available. Some of us are hoping we would be in for him because he would be a good signing. He might not fit in the world class bracket but we haven't always signed world class players, he still represents someone experienced, who is both good on the ball and good at protecting the back four, just what we need as he could both play with and instead of Carrick. It will be a shame to see him go to Arsenal (if it happens) because he's what we could do with in midfield and is now available at a good price. You don't have to get your knickers in a twist because some posters have expressed an opinion in favour of us signing Gustavo. We like him and hope we are in for him. Nothing to have a hissy fit over.

 What assumptions have I made?

I think that Gustavo is a better player than Fellaini, especially at passing, an attribute of the game when Gustavo is excellent (just for comparision he has a 92% successful passes last season, compared to 79% of Fellaini in last season but also in the season before it). He's on another level to Fellaini. Anyway, Fellaini surely wasn't ever a top choice target because he had a release clause so if we wanted him we would have signed him by now. If we sign him now, I think that is because we couldn't get our primary targets (no shame on that). I would be happy with Fellaini, but if the choice is between him and Gustavo, I think that Gustavo is a better player and we should sign him instead of the Belgian.

I have never said Gustavo didn't meet my approval ... I have said that the "attitude" that he is "good enough for us" is wrong. Panic buying is wrong ....

Spot the contradiction.

And again you ducked my question. You apparently have no views on any player, but criticise those who do and rest your case by simply saying that Moyes knows best ... so it's a wonder you even bother entering into threads that discuss potential transfers.

If Moyes doesn't think he's good enough then I'd be extremely worried!!!!!!!!!!!

You are mental.

Criticise?... Perhaps you, as you seem to me to be a bit of a stalker. I am critical of the panic culture that seems to exist in here, which is not helped by the smugness of WUM's like yourself.

I have faith in our management and staunchly believe Moyes will do what is right for the club. What is your issue?

You remind me of the cling-on that my dog occasionally gets on his arse.

If he does.... AND the player wants to come, it may happen. Earlier, people were critical of us, the club, Moyes etc for not being in for the player.

That people want him out of desperation. People want him because he is a good player who would strengthen us and has now become available.

You are joking, aren't you? He was not even in contention in here until it was realised that out primary targets had gone tits up. In fact, this "excellent player" only managed his own thread in mid-July. This guy appears to be available for a good price and everybody is pressing the buy button. It more than smacks of panic to me.
