Am I the only one that thinks he's not all that? He seems alright, but nothing to get menstrual about.

He's athletic, aggressive, defensively oriented, with the ability to set up attacks with efficient and accurate passing. And, seemingly, he's gettable. United are missing a massive trick here.

You have have to wonder what Moyes' actual plan is. Cause I bet he has one. Right?

Wait until a top class player is available and try to sign him then, I guess. If it takes 2 seasons then so be it.

Yeah he's a bit too defense orientated for my liking, but the fact is that we're at desperation point and to have somebody of his class in the squad can only be good. He'd allow Carrick to push forward by sharing the defensive responsibilities.
We should be after 2 CM's, and Moyes has told journos off the record that we are. One defence orientated and one attacking orientated makes sense.

What exactly are our scouts doing all season that we're unable to identify some midfield talent in the whole of Europe (that doesn't involve trying to nab Barca's midfield). It really feels like we're resorting to Fellaini at this point if we do sign him, if we were really keen it would've been one of our first moves of the summer.

He's going to be a huge success for Arsenal if they get him and yet another player we'll regret not going for. Then again I doubt we've had time to do an extensive scouting on him as it's only been clear that he'd be available for a couple of weeks and it'd take us far more time to assess if the player is good enough to improve midfield.

Yeah I've read those things quite often today. That Moyes and his stuff have only just started their work and spotting the real midfielder will take time. Well I'm sure he and especially his scouting team weren't blind all those years at Everton, especially as he seems to be a big fan of Müller and watched a lot of Bayern I'm quite sure he knows how good Gustavo is. I really don't buy that excuse.

I'd be over the moon with Gustavo and no-one else this window.
Seeing him playing for arsenal every week is going to be beyond irritating.

We are not in for him because I'm convinced Moyes will revert to tried and tested and sign Fellaini....not a bad thing at all but it's his first year at United and he wants people around who he trusts won't let him down. Personally although I rate Maroune I think this guy would have eased most of the burden on Carrick. Fantastic stamina, good on the ball and not afraid to get into shooting positions.

Gustavo will be a canny bit of business for Wenger, and basically Alex Song's replacement. It will free Arteta and Wilshere up even more and allow a bit of protection to an often vulnerable backline.

If Moyes does not sign a central midfielder then I will look back on this moment with disdain and a slight degree of bemusement.

Correct. He's a decent replacement for Arteta who's now as slow as arseholes. Miles better than Fellaini mind.

We're talking about a £15m player who hasn't been essential to Bayern, he might have not caught Moyes eye enough to justify spending a lot of money on him.

Figuratively they are. Of course, if you've had a tindaloo you may be running for the khazi.

 Genuinely tickled me!

As for Arteta, do you not rate him? He's not in his 30's yet is he? Should easily have a good few years left at the top.

He featured in 36 games last season for Bayern. I'd call that pretty essential. He was pretty much only left out when he was injured

Some of them in defence though, or am I wrong? They played Kroos and Schweinsteiger in a position we are looking to stengthen more.

Only once as a left back. Apart from that DM. It was 36 times though, not 44. He was injured for quite some time due to a hip operation.

To be fair though, Arteta's always been slow. It's not like they signed him for his pace.

As for Gustavo, he's hardly an exciting signing but whoever gets him will get a good player who would strengthen most teams.

Jesus Christ, now we're getting annoyed at not signing players we aren't interested in and haven't bid for. Some of you really need to wise up.

Honestly some of you need to get a grip. People are genuinely going to e-suicide here.

Sarni you're becoming as big an insufferable cnut like Devilish with your sarcasm.

There's nothing wrong with us looking at players and having a view. This is a fecking discussion forum! If you had it your way, we'd have nothing to talk about.

Not sure about the replacement of Alex Song, they're quite different players.

Also I'm convinced you've stolen that last line from Big Bang theory.

I'm not against having a view, but you've acted like a right fecking retard in every transfer thread going this week. Wise the feck up.

Sod off. I've had my ban for getting hot under the collar in the Fabregas thread, otherwise I've not said anything out of line. Feel free to quote my instances of retardedness (not a nice insult to throw around, btw) if they've been so frequent.

All you do is stalk the transfer threads looking down your nose at people. Stay out if it perturbs you so much.

Normally we spaz out when WE bid for a midfielder, but since that never happens this is the next best thing.

Feck you and the horse you rode in on, btw.

Posters like Neviller are worse than muppets in the transfer forum. They get angry at what's being posted despite not needing to be in here.

Did I miss the announcement that he became a mod/admin btw?...

Your post on the last page, about how it's "pathetic from a United point of view". What is? That someone else has bid for a midfielder? What's pathetic about it?

I don't stalk the transfer forum looking to have a go, there are just so many idiots posting inane drivel that is hard to ignore. Moyes and the club have come in for untold criticism this summer, for next to nothing. Are the club going to get slated every single time another club shows interest in a midfielder? Is that the new trend?

Nev, dont you feel we should be in for Gustavo considering what we have in CM and what he'd bring to the table?

You have to differ there though Neviller. The reason many feel a bit annoyed about it is that he seems to be gettable for not much at all and plays in the position we are desperately looking to strenghten. Him (seemingly) joining Arsenal unchallenged is what many find a bit strange.

The feck I am. I'm in the transfer forum because i'm interested in what happens in the world of football. I thought when this had been bumped something must have happened, so I had a look.

I don't need to be a mod to see that your post was a big steaming shite pile.
