Then I would say you can't tell how good is a player just by one game.

But you wont say that if he scores a goal?

Its one game either way. There will be nothing definitive to draw from this one match however, if he outshines Forlan then I guess it will say a lot. And if he struggles a bit or is a bit quiet against what should be a decent defence then that will say a lot too.

Good point this and despite it's flawed methodology might be a good way to judge Suarez over a number of games.

Well so far Forlan looks three times the player.

Yeah, Forlan has been miles better. Suarez has been... Inzaghi.

Could be a severe case of Hunterlitus.

In fairness, he's only 45 minutes into his World Cup

Fair to say it can only get better. All very well saying Uruguay have produced little service, but any he's had he's fecked up by being bloody offside each time!

Inzaghi would have added in a goal or two though to his double figure tally of offsides.

Day 1 of the 2010 world cup, all matches completed.

2 of the players that a large amount of the posters on the transfer forum would like us to spend somewhere near £50-60 million on, were rubbish.

Suarez was always offside or throwing himself to the floor trying to get people booked. There were a few legitimate fouls in there for sure but he makes it hard work judging whether he's playing honestly with the other half, hitting the deck whenever a player comes into his radius.

Gourcuff was on the periphery and not often enough affecting the match. Abou Diaby made more of an impact in attack...

Both men subbed off around 70 minutes in.

He is a #9 playing a team that set out to strictly defend, and so you're all wankers for trying to assess him on this performance. Let this thread die back down into obscurity...

The Forlan-Suarez Partnership is a failure because they're both very similar strikers. Would love to see how Suarez does with someone who naturally likes to drop deeper. Forlan tried to do it but that's just not his natural game.

No, they aren't

This is the first time you see both players, stop lying.

That's being nice. Gourcuff had trouble controlling a football at times and his passing was, on this showing, very similar to Anderson on one of his wayward days. He did a few Zidane pirouettes though, whoopedoo.

Have a feeling he's a more frustrating player than Berbatov.

Yeah 4-3-3 was a very defensive formation to set up with... And Forlan was dangerous because he was dropping off and running with the ball which is part of his natural game. Cant you try a bit harder with the excuses?

Looked very average vs France. Like a poor mans Dirk Kuyt. Not sure what all the fuss is about.

Forlan was the best attacker on the pitch.

He had the very definition of a stinker

He might go and score a hat trick next game though, the fun of the World Cup. Looking at the French, I'm not sure I'd say they've got their hardest game out of the way mind

Hmmmm Forlan didnt really shine , guess La liga is a shit league ???

Forlan did well when he did get the ball. Used it well, kept possession, some very good touches and basically was the only one who looked a threat.

Forlan was the best player on the pitch till his team went down to 10 men. After that we didnt see much of him so you could give it to Diaby for overall contribution over the 93 minutes.

The dutch defences must be awful if this chap can score 40+ goals against them!
