I don't see the point of strikers like Suarez at a team like United. He's too limited. You need proper footballers to lead the line.

Diouf, Chicorata, Owen and the striker who can't score from a yard away are miles ahead of him. ;)

Anyway, one game/tournament means nothing. Stam had an average tournament prior signing with us and yet he still did well didn't he?

I would like to see how he does in the world cup and if the price is right no harm trying. I cant see Hernandex, Macheda etc.... getting a lot of starts.

Suarez looks 1st team to me... Would be an exciting signing!! Don't think we'll see much in this world cup though.

Actually, we signed him before the tournament - and I remember some mass hysteria over United boards (not this one) following some of his World Cup matches, especially a huge gaff against Mexico I think.

Suarez still has some way to go, but I remember Ruud's earlier matches with us when his first touch was horrible. If we do sign him, we'll know fully well he's not the complete package.

I agree.

*bump* ..Lol

someone had to do it?!

in all seriousness though, not someone I'm completely sold on tbh..

Me neither. He's a finisher but his all round game is average imo.

I'd take a pop at him for 20 million, not 32.

I dont think he is strong enough to succeed as a striker against premiership defences.

 Great finish today, but yeh, it's not exactly a "everyone eat your words, you got it so blatantly wrong" bump

He looks a decent player, and maybe he would adept to the Premiership eventually. But the money Ajax would want for him make it a daft gamble for me

Couple of decent headers so far in the tournament and a quality swing of the right boot to score today.

Until today's game he'd barely done more than Javier Hernandez. But he's still in the competition and one of the top scorers in it after today.

Agreed. He's not worth more than 20 million. But given he was available for that price I'd fancy seeing him in United shirt. We would have to offload someone like Berbatov then though, as we would already have Rooney, Owen, Berbatov, Hernandez, Diouf, Macheda AND Suarez.

I think Berbatov will mope into obscurity before the end of the season anyway.

Finally had a good game, and winning goal was quite the finish. I was wondering what the fuss what all about, but have to agree Ajax would want way too much money for someone who may or may not make in the Premier.

Great strike, but unless the Premier League is going to start using the Jabulani ball, I don't think he's worth going for. Meanwhile, the first goal was just being on the end of a fair cross with shit defending by SK, and he made some very poor decisions that might have cost his team against better opposition.

You'd imagine if he ever does go to a top club it'll be a bit of a slap in the face and he'll realise he can't just shoot at every opportunity, but you never know...

He's got the raw tools to be a very decent player but I thought he was only that selfish because he was surrounded by relatively poor players and playing in a relatively poor league, but it seems not. I'd seen him get involved in a few pieces of one touch play too, looked like he had a decent appreciation of build-up play, but he was quite poor at that too.

Think it's put the £30m fee to rest though, finally. Not even sure £15m's great value to be honest, because as yet he's not shown himself to be ready for the big teams and the smaller teams who would cater for his selfishness in return for his goals aren't going to be spending that much on him.

Great finisher, one thing I dont like about him is he doesnt seem to have much pace

I think the best thing about him is that he makes Javier Hernandez value for money. Just a shame he isnt getting as much game time.

Think he might be a good buy though his heading wasn't too clever today. Missed a few but it didn't let it bother him. I think he'd do well in England and the price is relative to the service he gives you.

Like Rooney, over time he looks a bargain. That could easily happen with someone like Suarez

If we sign another striker it would be a more deep sitting striker like Rooney can play to give Rooney a rest after massive games and to comliment all of our other strikers coming through. We already have this in Berbs but if Fergie gets a good offer for Bebrs then he might just take the money and go for someone like Raul to fill the gap for a year or two! But I think Berbs will be stayng and we wont be signing any strikers.

I would think we will sing a playmaker and maybe not even anyone and I would imagine it might be someone like Van der Vaart who should might be available unlike many other players we are getting linked to that are simply not available to sign!

We might as well stick to youth as opposed to van der vaart. Someone like Cleverly would be a breath of fresh air (hopefully)

I wouldn't say so. I expect this forum would explode if Hernandez produced a finish like that at the WC.
