Luis Suarez

How is that in any way relevant to a discussion about his strength on the ball?

Its not a discussion about his strength on the ball. Its a discussion about Luis Suarez, as a transfer target. How are the actions of Luis Suarez not relevant to a thread about him as a transfer target, for us or anyone else?

Uruguay's World Cup star Luis Suarez admits he could be tempted to leave Ajax if Manchester United or Barcelona come calling.

The 23-year-old striker, who was sent off during Uruguay's quarter-final encounter against Ghana due to his controversial handball, scored a massive 49 goals in 48 games for the Dutch club last season.

But despite being happy at Ajax, Suarez says an offer from a high-profile club such as United could sway him towards a move.

"Manchester United and Barcelona are the elite clubs in Europe," Suarez told the Daily Star Sunday.

"If they call, you listen. I would only leave Ajax for a team in that category."

Suarez is eligible to play in the World Cup final should Uruguay win their last-four match after being handed a one-match ban by FIFA on Saturday.

There's no room in the inn at Barca.....

Those quotes are about a month old and they're just stating the obvious anyway. It's just him commenting on baseless stories.

Premiership clubs are on red alert over the availability of Luis Suarez.

Ex-Ajax youth boss Arnold Muhren admits his old club needs to sell their top players, including Suarez, to arrest growing debts.

Uruguay international Suarez has declared an ambition to play for Manchester United this summer, while he is seen at Chelsea as an alternative transfer target to Liverpool striker Fernando Torres.

After a successful World Cup, Ajax are hoping to rake in at least £18 million for the prolific forward.

Bargain

Nah, he's definitely above that. Would be a good buy at £18m

would be a very good buy at 18m he reminded me a lot of a young ronaldo when he was playing at the world cup, and i know that the world cup usually isnt something to judge a player on but fek me he looked good

id be very happy if we signed him, that said it probably wont happen :(

Which one? Fat Ronaldo or our Ronaldo? Either way, he reminded me of neither.

He's not all that. I hope we don't sign him. A few great goals at the World Cup aside, plus 1 great save also, i thought he was pretty ordinary.

I thought he was pretty good. His skill and finishing were in evidence as you'd expect, but he also showed a lot of physicality which was a major question mark for me. A shade off top class but a fantastic buy for Villa, Spurs etc.

Decent player, not at all what we need. Our money could be better spent elsewhere.

Flaps at crosses, and doesn't command his area.

I read that as "***s at crosses"

That's a great argument. Let's not look at his greatest asset and see then what he has to offer?

That's like saying "forget about those saves the goalkeeper made, what else can he do?"

Excapt it's nothing like saying that really. Not at all.

Darren Bent can score goals......

Not for good teams it seems. And not great goals at top level. If he could he would.

He's scored goals in a much superior league to the one Suarez is playing in.

For the record i'm not saying I think Bent is a better than Suarez, just pointing out that being a striker at the highest level is about more that scoring goals. No matter how silly that sounds.

If you end up scoring around 20 goals each season with a team like United then you're pretty damn good. You might not be irreplaceable considering the amount of hypothetical chances wasted but at least you'd be doing what you're paid to do. Rooney's only achieved this feat once in 6 seasons so I'd very much accept a player who could pull off such a thing.

I know what you're talking about, I was only making fun of the choice of phrasing you used:smirk:

Nice overhead kick.

He's looked real lively. Does this start mean he's cup tied now? I've read/heard conflicting reports

I think so. I remember Michael Owen not being used in UCL qualifying because he wanted to go to Madrid and playing him would mean he'd be cup tied.

Suarez had quite an interesting half there.

Scores a great goal.

Goes down in the box with his back to goal on a corner. Asks for a penalty, the goalie drops the ball and it rolls right past him. Would have been a tap in really.

Then missed a one-on-one after leaving a defender on his ass. Great save from the keeper.

Good then. Fat chance of him staying there since after today's 1-1 draw it's likely that PAOK will knock them out, if not I think they will be done by whoever they draw in another round.

Hopefully so .... I'd like to see him at Spurs.
