Luis Suarez to Liverpool?

Maybe they'll finish in the top half now :(

Still don't know how their going to use him. Unless they mean to sell off Torres in the summer? 2 strikers means Torres turns shite.

He has often played on the wing of a 4-3-3 and behind the main striker as well.

Does it? Doesn't seem to be many around who don't think he is a good player.
I'm not sure. I think after a series of relative flops from the Dutch League maybe teams are a bit wary of offering the kind of money Ajax wanted? Because lets be honest it's not the hardest thing in the world to score a lot in that league. However he's a decent player and might do well.

Hmm. I still don't think it will work well with Torres being there. Torres has never done well with a striker partner. And he might lose some effectiveness playing off the wing?

It'll be interesting to see how he fairs out in the Premier League now, god knows we've heard enough about him for quite a while now.

All depends on how well Suarez fills out the role behind the striker and/or the wing. I fully expect Torres to remain on the shoulder of the last defender.

Think he'll be on the wing, Pedro style.

Great signing for them.If they can hang on to Torres they'll have strong strike force

Torres and Suarez - whingiest, bitchiest, diviest strike partnership in world football?

Liverpool really need to invest in two centre backs and a two decent wingers next.

The squad needs a complete overhaul thinking about it.

Ronaldo could partner with Niall Quinn up front and they'd still take that price.

I think he'll be your next number 9 after Torres leaves in the summer. I can't imagine the two of them playing well together and if one has to be dropped it'll surely be Suarez.

But who does he replace? Front 3 of Kuyt Torres Suarez with a midfield of Gerrard Lucas and Meireles?

I am hoping Kuyt is the one to lose out, but other than that that is the team I'm envisioning. Kenny seems fond of the 4-3-3 these days.

He's quite average on the wing, doesnt have the pace to truly skin a man. But he does have some clever footwork for his dribbling, will sometimes go past a man well but at a leisurely speed. He wont be much different to Kuyt the winger

Good signing for them. Wouldn't class him as top drawer but far better than NGog. Will be interesting to see where he plays in relation to their formation and Torres/Gerrard.

When they sign players like Suarez in January, that means business. Suarez - Torres is a good attacking couple, something Liverpool has not possessed since Owen - Heskey.

Yup man and woman are good players but will they feature together much? Seeing Torres' performances with a striker around him that does not seem to indicate they'll do too well as a pairing.

He's been decent this year...

with a bit more thought, I imagine he'll play on the same wing as Johnson, as he is the best option to maintain width up the pitch when Suarez goes inside or in behind the defence.

It'll be exciting to see how we line up against Stoke. If we beat them, we'll actually have won three leagues in a row. Can't remember the last time that happened. 4th place here we come!

It is interesting as Torres and Surez would seem to be a partnership which will rely heavily on service from wingers. And well, Liverpool dont really have any.

does. not. compute.

Torres has always enjoyed a throughball behind the defence moreso than attacking crosses. When Gerrard finds his feet again, Torres will turn it on.

Still damn good at attacking headers though. What a player he is.

While I agree with that, I think if you played 442 with some of the league's best wingers you'd get twice as much out of them

I'd be happy with a skilful more prolific version of Kuyt on one wing.

edit: Kuyt anno spring '09, not the current shambles.

But Suarez is a hell of a finisher, when it leave his foot, it is usually on the target. He also has a impressive flair even though is pace is not the best. This is a signing that will improve Liverpool. They have a decent defense, a decent midfield, I would get a better backup than Ngog, but they are getting somewhere.

They are far better counter-attack, that has improved since Dalglish took over even without him.

Suarez to Liverpool = Torres to Chelsea

If they lose Torres, then expect Reina at Arsenal in the summer.

He will not score as many as Torres regardless. And whether Torres stays till the summer or leaves now, it would seem Suarez will be his replacement

I seriously have no idea how good this guy is. The only bits I've see of him were a little bit at the World Cup and he was OK. Forlan ran the show.

Dutch football watchers, what say you?
