Luis Suarez to Liverpool?

If it works, our yanks are shrewd and canny negotiators and this is proof that they know what they're doing and we'll soon be back.

If it doesn't I am reserving the right to label them cheapskates no better than G&H.

Or maybe neither.

That tactic would work with some clubs, depending on the selling clubs' finances.

And the new owners are novices in European football and transfers, so if it doesn't work, it could be put down to learning the trade.

Nice to see that they are doing their business through media though :D

First Babel were staying, but now it seems the deal back to Hoffenheim is back on, while McLaren seemingly doing them a favour of spending big on Jovanovic.

If the numbers are true, Germany will bring £13m in. And they will have to spend someone. Suarez - Torres is a duo that will win them games if they opt to spend the extra £12-17m Ajax may or may not demand. Regardless if Suarez will fit in England or not, he cannot possibly do worse than N'gog and the rest of the crap at Liverpool has up there.

Making a 12m bid for a player valued at 30m is a bit silly, don't you think?

It comes across as derisory and insulting to the club, or even to the player.

United have played games like that in the past and missed out on Ronaldinho and Robben.

I agree with you completely

On the other hand maybe Liverpool's concept of 'value' is different from than Ajax.

He is overpriced, no way will Ajax get anything close to 30m for him these days

I reckon Liverpool will come away with a deal around 17m

I reckon it be close to the Dzeko price tag Shitty paid for him.

Maybe but 12m is a plain insult. The man's been their top scorer for how many seasons now and he was pivotal in getting Uruguay to 3rd in the WC. With the money being thrown around nowadays, I'd say he's more around the 20m mark.

What I find weird is that Dalglish is going for a foreign player. I'd a thought he'd go for someone of British origin.

They need quality players, not quantity anymore. I personally dont think theres much available quality kicking around Britain at the moment

He's better than what they have (aside from Torres obviously) so i dont think his nationality will come into it

It'll be closer to 22million in my opinion. He is after all their leading goalscorer with alot of assists. They won't sell cheap!

No he isnt and no he's not?

He's having a tough time of it, 4 goals behind Ajax's top scorer and doesnt have that many assists either. At this point if they lose him, they wont miss him a great deal. But he could have a much better second half of the season and get back to how he's been in previous seasons, potentially. So keeping him could be a gamble that pays off.

As for him being "valued" at £30 million, so is Jordan Henderson.

When I heard they were in negotiations I though, "Fair play, Liverpool are prepared to spend some serious money on an established player." Turns out they're just offering half what he'll cost.

How do you work that out? 108 appearances, 81 goals (for Ajax)... in todays world of football, he's worth over 20million easily! I wouldn't want him to goto Liverpool, he'd improve them for sure.

So was Kuyt worth £40 million or something? His record in Holland, when the league was a lot stronger than it is now, puts even Suarez and Huntelaar's to shame. Mainly because its Kuyt who had a better record than them

The Dutch league is a bucket league. Kuyt scored buckets of goals there ffs

Ruud only cost 19m after 62 goals in 67 matches for PSV. Admittedly he was carrying an injury but he's still twice the forward this lad is

If Ajax get over 20m for him then they can laugh all the way to the bank

And how much has that truly affected clubs at the top tier?

well, outside of those that have been over by Oil barons (City), or the 2 Spanish clubs that continually get bailed out by royalty or the government (Barca, Madrid), no-one is really splashing that type of cash much anymore

you say this days after Aston Villa stumped up 18m (potentially 24m) on Darren bent

and Villa are not owned by any Oil baron

But when that sort of money IS spent around, Ajax should not be looking at Van Nistelrooy's ten year old transfer when they decide what sort of fee they want.

City, Barcelona and Madrid wont be interested in him, therefore Ajax need to get real with an acceptable price

anymore than 20m is not realistic

They are not though and have repeatedly stated they mean not to.

Ajax are though and of course once Holloway realised he had something to chat about, he immediately called a pc. the man simply can't stop talking about anything.

Why?

At any rate, Commoli is our Sporting Director. He'll have a major, probably the main, say in who we sign.

Does Comolin or whatever his name is work for Ajax?

Ajax are considering reporting Liverpool to Fifa over their pursuit of Luis Suarez, according to Dutch reports.

Liverpool director of football strategy Damien Comolli was in Amsterdam on Monday to try and broker a deal.

But the move remains at an impasse with Liverpool's offer reported to be €15milion, half of what Ajax would ideally want.

Any chance of Ryan Babel being included in the deal appear to have fallen by the wayside with confirmation that he is set to tie up a deal with Hoffenheim.
And Ajax are seemingly less than amused with Liverpool's approach with claims they have already approached Suarez's agent Pere Guardiola, brother of Barcelona coach Pep, before being given permission.

Ajax are insistent that they are standing firm over their valuation of the Uruguayan striker, who is currently serving a suspension.

"We'll have to wait for them to come back with something more respectful," an Ajax spokesman is quoted as saying by The Guardian.

"We want to keep him - at least until the end of the season and preferably for the rest of his contract. If you compare the €15million Liverpool want to pay for Suarez with other transfers you can imagine that it's far too low for us.

"Luis is our top goalscorer for the last three years and also the man with by far the most assists as well. He was one of the big guys for Uruguay in helping them come third in the World Cup in the summer and he still has a contract with us for two-and-a-half years."

LOL

I'd a thought one of your main problems has been that your players show no passion when it counts the most. Most of your squad don't play for the 'club n badge' per say, if you get what I mean. Just an out loud thought that was.

Liverpool should concentrate on getting Charlie Adam. With Gerrard getting injured often, he will be a valuable addition to their squad. He could play alongside Gerrard in a 3 man midfield. He was terrific last night against us.

It's ON! The league title is theirs!

I think Suarez will literally chew up the PL.

it's weird how totally public these negotiations have been, yet no one else bothered to throw in a bid.

Maybe they'll finish in the top half now :(

Still don't know how their going to use him. Unless they mean to sell off Torres in the summer? 2 strikers means Torres turns shite.

How will he fit into their team? Will he play up front with Torres (assuming he stays)?

Does that mean a midfield of Gerrard and Meireles?
