Luis Suarez to Liverpool?

I know why he was suspended, but he lost the captaincy after the suspension. He chose to stand down because clearly the pressures of being the captain of Ajax were getting to him. He hasnt been performing as he had in previous seasons and in the champions league matches I've watched him in, he's trying to do it all himself

He was asked to give the captaincy up as De Boer wanted a Dutch speaking captain (Steklenburg)

He'd be an improvement but I've never rated Suarez.

Would not want him to go to Liverpool, dont know why but i'd rather see some mediocre player sign for them.

He will be an improvement over their current lot though.

The next Dutch league bomb to come to the EPL. Won't forgive him for the handball - I'd of done the same thing in his boots, but I was desperate for an African team to progress...

Would never have happened if Ajax were top of the league and doing well though.

Jol gave him the armband, De Boer was his assistant. And De Boer is still only caretaker manager

Also he's been in Holland since 2006 and he cant speak dutch? Alarm bells should be ringing for premier league clubs, he's unlikely to bother learning english either then. Having said that neither has Tevez really bothered and he's captain of one of the teams

Apparently Suarez deal sealed according to twitter, 17m with some add ons and clauses

Depends what the add ons and clauses are but that seems a reasonable amount

If its like £5 million more if they win the league or a cup, then they'll never have to pay it. If its extra money based on appearances then its still unlikely to go over £20 million

Luiz Suarez is on the verge of moving to Liverpool, according to reports.

The Daily Mail claims that 'Reds owner John Henry met with the Ajax striker's agent in London on Tuesday night as talks accelerated over the proposed deal.

'Henry dined with agent Pere Guardiola - the brother of Barcelona boss Pep - as Liverpool move in on their No 1 January target.'

The deal is being described as 'imminent', with the Mail announcing 'Uruguay striker Suarez fancies a move to Merseyside as there are plenty of Spanish speakers in the Reds dressing room.'

Tottenham are also believed to have an interest in Suarez but Liverpool seem poised to win the race for his signature.

This happened on Football Manager 2011, more proof the game is realistic.

Liverpool don't play 2 strikers upfront so wonder where and how he's going to be used.

All I know is that he's an annoying cheating cnut, and I'll have a good laugh at the threads on RAWK about how the 'Liverpool Way' means their players don't cheat unlike that nasty Man United.

As regards his ability he didn't impress me much in the WC. Some had talked about him as a United transfer target as a winger, but he was far too slow for that role. As a striker, who knows? He might adjust well to the PL.

All I know about him is he has a phenomenal record in Holland and can defend with his hands which isn't saying much.

Interesting to see how he gets on at 'Pool. Wonder if this was a Dalglish signing, Comolli signing or Henry signing. Still unclear as to who calls the shots there. I think it will all depend on if he is a success or not as to who gets blamed/credited.

Torres will be gone in the Summer, Liverpool buying a player like Suarez is absolute confirmation of that. They've bought his replacement with half a season to get used to the PL and bed into the team, it's quite smart of them.

Liverpool won't be planning on Torres leaving and will be hopeful that he doesn't.

You're reading this wrong in my view.

Hmm the next Kezman or Afonso Alves?

He looka better than either and was good at the World Cup so he might actually do slightly better than either of them.

4-4-2; with Torres & Suarez up front, Sam?

It looks like it. I have seen very little of Suarez but it seems he likes to play behind the striker. People here can confirm that or not.

Still leaves us weak in the wider positions and successive managers appear to think it's not a problem.

I would prefer to see the money spent on a quality wide player personally.
