Lucas Moura?

Agreed. Combines ability with graft, knows the league, offers a different option to our other wingers & works well with Mourinho.. They have no reason to sell though.
Incredibly under rated, one of mates supports Chelsea and raves about him.

He's a very intelligent footballer which I feel we lack

Sorry to chirp in, I do agree William is a very underrated player and I do like him but if I had to choose between the two I'd go for Lucas mostly just due to the way we play.

That's just not true and a myth that needs to go away. Even at his worst he was producing decent numbers for PSG. This season he's been very good.

This is true. He hasn't regressed since he left Brazil. His game hasn't improve a lot either. Despite that, he puts up decent numbers for a winger.

Get his head right and he'd be an amazing talent to have. However same could be said for our Adnan so it's a tough call as to whether it'd make sense to buy him.

We dont need to be taking punts. We have the cash, the manager and the UCL. Get the real deal, not this asda own brand
Smart price is decent, Martial had been playing like he's from Lidl and Lingard from Netto. Bring on Asda!

He'd be a good tactical option to stretch teams, sort of like the way Jesus Navas was used by City in the league. Would be a very useful squad player.
We need less tactical options and more players genuinely capable of making it to the top. Sign another okay player out wide and we'll go into next season with Moura, Martial, Lingard and Mkhitarian as our wide options.

The time and place for signing him has long gone.

We would have developed so much better than psg. What a huge mistake he made.

Its weird people complain forever about when we were supposedly signing Bernardo complaining that he wasn't quick enough and isnt the type of wide man that we need, then the option for an absolute pace monster who can beat people for fun becomes available and people complain too

Chirp away buddy, to be honest it would be win win, I have a lot of time for Willian and haven't seen much of Lucas which probably explains my bais

The one he almost always plays on the right wing.

I ask because in his highlight video a lot of his good work is done from deep - he looks to be positioned on the right of a three man midfield.

He looked good in that video, but nothing like the Lennon/Walcott people mention. A more talented later day Valencia is my view.

Good for epl defenses, lacks intelligence for ucl.

I just don't think that a player that doesn't play for his national team is going to make any significant difference in taking us from 6th to title contenders. We need to buy better players than our opponents if we're going to surpass them. Lucas Moura isn't better than Mane, Bernardo Silva, Leroy Sane, Willian etc. I'd also rather play with Mkhitaryan on the right wing than Lucas

I just feel in the way I see Jose heading Lucas's directness and ability to carry a ball would suit the way we play maybe a bit more.
Saying that Willian is probably the more defensively switched on so I guess it comes down to what you prefer. I feel Lucas offers more of an attacking threat and possibilities so I'd always go with that.

Playing for the NT isn't a great indicator of how good or poor a player is. For example, Alex Sandro is excellent left-back and just recently got a well-deserved call up.

You making out he plays for some small country.

Brazil have a talented group of players. By your logic no club should have gone for Alves in his peak because he didn't start for Brazil. Sane wasn't a regular for Germany.

Herrera didn't start for Spain. Should have not signed him then.

I didn't say that no club should ever sign a player that doesn't play for his national team. I said that I don't think a player that doesn't play for his national team is going to make a significant difference in taking us from 6th to title contenders.

He's average despite the stats. Not a starter for PSG and his football IQ is very very low

That's because putting in the work defensively isn't beneath him. I was really gutted that we didn't get him, when he signed for PSG.

Better than say, Mane?

Difficult to assess right now, but it’s a good comparison. Without going into details, I'd say Lucas is at least as exciting to watch. However, I'd give Mané a slight edge over Lucas (and over Douglas Costa) at the moment, but that's only because Mané is proven in the Premier League.

How much goals is enough for a winger if 19 isn't impressive?

That’s across all competitions though, not just Ligue 1 – which I don’t rate too highly to begin with. But you are right, it’s a good amount of goals scored by a winger. Watching him play can be frustrating though, see quoted post below.

I agree. Whenever I have seen him he has half impressed me, really quick and good running with the ball....but there just seems to be something missing for me that makes him a real stand out player. Would hardly be a bad signing and think he woul dod well in the premiership, the fact he went to PSG over ourselves while Fergie was still in charge is enough for a no thanks from me though. I feel Mourinho is intent on a proven world class decisive attacking player be it Griezman, bale, Neymar to change the outcome in the final third he has bemoaned on several occasions this season, cant see him going for a Costa or Moura who have all the talent in the world but lack perhaps the end product. Lozano seemed a good option of that type of player, looks like he is off to Celta Vigo though, shame, would have like dus to take a chance on him

With that being said, I’d take Lucas (or Douglas Costa) in a heartbeat over Ivan Perisic…

Him or Perisic?
Perisic plays on the left, Lucas plays on the right. We already have Mata on the right as well as Mkhitaryan and Lingard. On the left we have Martial, Rashford, Mkhitaryan, arguably Lingard? Who did I forget?

Anyway I'd much rather play Mata on the right than Lucas so Perisic for me. Mata on the right is brilliant for Valencia since it gives him a lot of space when Mata drifts towards the middle.

100% agree with Mata & Valencia. Both get the most out of each other. However, what I want is someone who is an upgrade on Lingard. Mata isn't an automatic starter, and really is better through the middle. Moura would be a great addition to our squad. We lack nimble, quick dribblers in our team.

I just can't see Mourinho trying to sign him.
Lucas Moura like the majority of Brazilian wingers was formed more as a second striker than as an "european winger".
Probably would be great under Guardiola or in some high attacking german side.

I've always liked him and thought he would be a good fit here. However, I don't think he is a Mourinho type of player. Besides he just had his best season. Surely that's code for his agent looking for a pay rise.

Since we are so heavily being linked to perisic, I would be happy with Moura. I think he is better player.
