Lucas Moura?

I remember when Brazil played Denmark back in 2012 I think, and Mourinho went to scout Lucas. But the MotM was Oscar who still played back in Brazil and looked incredible.

Both Oscar and Lucas looked better as youngsters than their more 'mature' version. I wonder if them trying to discipline their football to fit European style was what caused this. I think they get too stuck inside their own head with managers making them play more simple, that they do a wrong dosage of it and play too cautious. Does anyone agree?

Does he still have this type of pace?

(somebody embe it for me?)

Yes, he has and will continue to have until he is at least 30-31 years old, probably.

The thing about Lucas is that he can pull off those type of runs against any opposition. His finishing should be better, but he's a versatile forward who provides from the wing as well.

I personally would prefer Lucas over Douglas Costa and Ivan Perisic.

We've needed a real right winger for about 5 years. I don't care who it is aslong as they have pace, work rate and can beat a man. All things that we've lack on the right wing for years.

In all fairness, we sold Zaha far too soon.

Hear hear, it would've been interesting to see what Zaha could do at the United of now.

Regarding Lucas and the qualities you ask of, pace, work rate, beating his man – he checks all those boxes. Also, while he is indeed mainly a winger on the right, he can play on the left as well. His versatility is extensive. Age is on his side too, turning 25 in August.

Think we should steer clear.

I remember when we thought he was signing for us and he mentioned speaking to Brazilian players that living in Manchester is difficult because of the rain.

Manchester didn't all of a sudden get sunny in the time since.

Would rather Douglas Costa.

It rains in France you know.

Erm...Costa is Brazilian as well....

Yes but let's be real, not like Manchester.

And right or wrong there's a perception among some Latin players that living in England namely the north west would be a big adjustment.

It rains a lot in Germany where Costa plays as well and he's done well enough for you to suggest him as an alternative.

Yes but I haven't heard Costa complain about the weather.

My bigger point with Lucas is I don't want weak minded players that are going to complain about rain. As Mourinho said, we need players that want to come here to work.

And I'm sure Mourinho would satisfy himself of that with any potential signing by doing whatever due diligence he needs rather than making a decision based on a comment the player may or may not have made a few years ago.

In the meantime he went from being a teenager to a 25 year old. His views on life and the world aren't going to have remained static you know.

If names like Lucas Moura, Douglas Costa are being thrown into the ring, why not add Felipe Anderson to the lot? After a downer of a season 2 years ago, he has bounced back last season with Lazio, being pretty decisive in the final third with 5 goals and 11 assists. For an offensive player, he also puts in a good defensive shift averaging around 2.8 tackles/game and 1.5 interceptions/game, which will surely be attractive to Mourinho. He is also quite versatile and tactically efficient.

The best part is that out of the three, he is the one who is willing to come and has commented on his willingness publicly. I know we had been linked with him during LVG but I think his current style of play would suit the team under Mourinho much better, similar to Willian. Speed, control, flair, defensive shift, decision making, technical nous, the guy's got it all, and under Mourinho could turn out to be a valuable player and would provide a good alternative to the likes of Mkhi, Mata, Lingard and Martial.

Moura is a £35m Adama Traore. Take a punt on the Catalonian Dribble Monster. No hassle if Mou has to ditch him in a season or two.

Adama Traore is eons away from being a worthwhile option for any team who seeks to compete for silverware.

I would take Lucas Moura over perisic anyday. He'd probably be cheaper too

Sorry for the bump but why aren't we in for him considering we have a number of players who can play on the left but nobody who can naturally play on the right? He also has loads of pace and skill and PSG surely has to sell.

I agree. Our right wing is probably where we need the most improvement. A winger is essential in my opinion. And PSG will be open to selling an attacking player with Neymar on the way for a massive fee. I think Lucas would be a good and realistic signing.

Doiglas costa never turned a club down because of the weather. Moura did.

I think that weather thing was BS.

SAF sent the contract to Moura who was going to sign that day but Leonardo called at the last minute and offered him crazy wages and PSG paid his release clause in full as well.
SAF was never going to sanction giving a newbie that kind of money.

ANything in the region of 20 to 25 mil should be enough for fire sales price along with Aurier at similar price. Would definitely give the squad much needed boost in quality and options especially when the team is lacking in actual wingers.

Aren't we looking for a left (footed) winger, not a right sided player?

I've not really seen much of him. I was excited when we were linked with him, because I'm a muppet, but I don't watch much football apart from United games. The impression I get is that he's a Brazilian Jesus Navas. Fast with the ball but no end product. How accurate would that comparison be?

Moura has been about as good as Perisic but in a much worse league. I am just not sure why anyone thinks PSG have to sell? Or sell cheap, there is no evidence for it?

Look at Manchester City, (will) have spent less than PSG and bring in more revenue... they've had to shift 8 of last season's first team squad out so far - 10 if you include Iheanacho and Fernando - with maybe 5 more likely leaving before the end of the window.

It's a fact PSG have to sell, pretty significantly.

PSG would have Di Maria, Jese, Lucas Moura, Draxler, Ben Arfa, Guedes and now Neymar. They would have to get rid of couple of them since they can't possibly offer all of them game time.

Lucas Moura has pretty decent numbers in Ligue 1. However, he was an assist machine and he had great link up play with Zlatan. His weakness would probably be his finishing which could be worked upon. The guy brings flair, pace and creativity which is what we've lacked at times. I think he could do really well if given the opportunity and for the last time, just because he's not over 6 feet doesn't make a non Mourinho player.

As for him rejecting us for PSG back then, I wouldn't' hold that against him at all, he was 19 years of age and was lured to PSG by fellow Brazilian, Leonardo and there was quite a Brazilian contingent back then as well. So yeah, but this guy has massive potential and I think with the group of players we have at United, he would be gel pretty well.
