Television Lost: The Final Season

Mate, I watched it on Sunday and that feels like a lifetime ago. Life after Lost will just be an empty void.

I have no idea what I'll do when it finishes. I'm going to be a wreck.

I dont see how the smokey can get into the temple unless he gets someone else to remove the ash surrounding it.

Question is who removed the ash around the cabin where he was supposedly trapped ?

Was the ash to trap smokey in the cabin or to prevent him from getting to Jacob?

Details, TFP, details.

I havnt heard anything official, but i've heard rumours that the new game will be a sandbox style game with a full island to explore.

The game itself is still yet to be confirmed though, I expect it to be announced around the time S6 finishes

:D

 I kinda ruined that ending with that picture I posted a few pages back. Was definitely a filler episode, but the bits about Claire are interesting.

- I'm guessing Sayid and her are 'infected' like Montand and the rest of the French team.

- The above would mean that Christian was the black smoke all along, which is how Claire probably got infected, which means it was always him in the cabin. Jacob must have never been there.

- When they started attacking Jack at the start before Sawyer fires the pistol, watch one guard, he just randomly starts hitting Miles for no reason

- Next ep is called The Substitute, no idea what that could be about.

I've been 'borrowing' the hotel internet for the past few weeks, but last week when I was trying to listen to the United-Pompey game, it wouldn't connect...it worked the next day and has done since....

...until this morning! Hopefully it'll be sorted by the time I get back, because I want to listen to United v England under 21s, and watch Lost.

Absolute tripe. I do not why it was even called What Kate does, because she does nothing meaningful in the episode at all. I do not get the point of filler episode in the final season.

I think there are possibly two types of lost watchers, those who tune in for the drama and character development and those who want answers. This episode was probably for the former and not the latter.

As I place myself somewhere in between those two parties I would say I though it was a good episode but not an outstanding one.

Tee hee...they dropped the character development part long time ago, I moaned about that for couple of seasons. So it is a bit rich now to use that as an excuse for rubbish sequences. And what character development did exactly take place off the island? Kate's role did not tell her anything new about her we did not know already, same for Claire. In fact even on the Island, only Sawyer part was meaningful since it is preclude to his role this season. Jack and Kate stuff was to the book to what they have established their characters to be so far.

Agree with BAMSOLA. It wasn't amazing but it wasn't shit by any means. I felt it was nicely paced compared to the first eps which I thought were a bit hectic.

Also I don't know why after Six seasons I still expect our survivors to be given straight answers when they ask questions  you think I'd have learnt

In fairness I bunched drama and character development together perhaps I should have mentioned only drama as this episode was more to do with that than any real character development.

What i'm simply trying to say is that not all viewers focuses solely on answers, some like the drama and interplay between the characters, also if you go back and watch there were some answers to questions in there although those questions were raised some time ago earlier in the show.

We may now have a better idea of what the "illness" is that Rosseau spoke of.
We do know that Claire hasn't disappeared off the face of the earth and may actually play a huge part in the Island timeline this season.

Its not a huge amount but it is something and builds nicely to the next episode which will hopefully focus more on the island timeline.

Considering how good the first 2 episodes were, it was really quite dire. Brought me back to the filler episodes of Season 3 where there were all questions and absolutely no answers, along with pointless subplots, and the only bit worth watching was the final 2 minutes.

I mean seriously, how many fecking times did something along the lines of:

A: So wait, what exactly is <insert name/object>
B: I think you know exactly what it is
or
B: What's with all the questions?
etc
A: ....

It's really disappointing to get an episode like that in the final season, considering there was pretty much no filler in S4 and S5.

It was on the same level as the first two imo which I personaly think you are over-rating.

And you realise his answer of "I think you know exactly what I mean" means he came to the island the same way our losties did - through plane/boat/space shuttle/you name it which points to a strong possibility of Dogen and his lot being from the Black Rock.

And there was much more "worth watching" than just the last 2 minutes.

There was one scene I thought was quite pointless,

Where Kate is getting some water from a tap, Sawyer walks past, and she looks at him, then back down again. That was it, no dialogue and it lasted about 25 seconds

Also I liked the bits with Aldo and the other guy, how he kept going to reveal stuff then being told to shut up. What did he mean when he said 'But he's one of them' about Jin?

Your spoiler is un tagged Sol

With regards to Aldo's mate (his name was James or something wasnt it?) I think he meant they were part of the time traveller group and hence one of the special people?

Yeah I noticed after I posted it

I think it was Justin actually. How would he know they time travelled though? From what it seems the temple peeps have been pretty secluded since they found out about the Kahana. Even if he knows, calling him 'one of them' still doesn't really fit. He said it like they were special or had been warned not to hurt them by someone.

Tbh, I think that is exactly the case.

I was watching it to my brother, said to him just before that scene 'I wonder how many hours of Lost have been spent with people just looking at each other or into the distance'

Aldo's one of the main characters in It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Was so weird seeing him there.

I really hate Kate...All her eps are shit and she has about 2 facial expressions. Fit though

Dull ep really

Decent episode.

How come Justin and Aldo were so inept? Aren't these others the whispering ones whose stealth and tracking skills allowed them to steal Losties whenever they wanted?

Ethan as the doctor was great. Are we heading towards a fate idea of their paths intertwining or that the explosion and subsequent parallel shift has seeped some information to the non-crash world.

How was Sayid infected then, by the water? Does that mean Claire was infected like that and Ben too? Does anyone else think Sayid may end up killing himself, he was willing to kill a young ben to stop the inevitable rise of his evil but will he be willing to take his own life.

Something I forgot to mention

The way Kate looked at Jack from the cab, there is definitely something else going on in the alt timeline than just a 'what could have happened' thing.

I guess there are alot of people in this thread who don't really appreaciate the drama aspect of lost, which is fair enough but still a shame.

Im sorry, but thats a complete cop out...and a bit condescending. There was almost no drama in that episode what so ever.

The only drama in this episode was provided by Sawyer, and Josh Holloway in particular who acted his balls off

Kate's flashthing was exactly the same as all her flashthings. She does something stupid and completely unnecessary out of panic, then eventually pulls her shit together and gets soppy, makes her 2nd facial expression (awkward uncomfortable smile) then leaves having really accomplished nothing. Not dramatic in the slightest.

The on island story involved kate doing something stupid and completely unnecessary, then getting all soppy, and leaving, having accomplished nothing. Again, not dramatic, and I'm getting slightly fed up with these all knowing ninja creeping others being so easily outsmarted by Kate, who's inexplicably a great tracker for some reason too, while they aren't, despite living in the fecking jungle.

About 20 minutes of the episode were taken up by Kate, Jack, Sawyer looking at each other purposefully in the same way they've done for 6 years in various different filler episodes when the writers need to fill up time between the various things that have to happen. Do you find that dramatic? Still? Really?

Jacks part followed the exact (and to the letter) structure of most of his other episodes. Gets upset, makes a stand, demands answers, doesn't get them, makes a point, eventually gets half an answer in a vague way right at the very end. Not dramatic, not particularly anyway, and didn't give us any insight into anything about Jack or the funky jap dude. It was just filler between the first scene and the last.

Essentially, Damon & Carlton will have said

"The Others try and poison Sayid, Sawyer runs away, Claire comes back at the end. In the flash, Kate meets Claire who has to keep the baby.... Fill in the rest as you will"

And so they did, with pointless conversations that we've seen 40 millions times before (e.g. Jack tells kate to be careful before she leaves - this takes up 20 seconds of dramatic pauses, music and purposeful looks)..

If you're really sucker enough to buy into the fact that filling up pages with the same dramatic pauses, same bland romantic platitudes (be careful, I trust you, you know exactly what I mean, who do you care about? etc etc) the same almost exact scenes and conversations as in previous eps (almost like they're written to a template) with no actual character development, is "Dramatic" then good for you...But I don't. Just because you liked it doesn't mean you have get all condescending and claim those who didn't don't like drama and only like the silly mythology bits...That isn't true, we just like actual drama, good drama, and not by the book seen in 50 other episodes manufactured drama with no purpose

Just a really dull ep...I've got no problem with them not answering questions and just providing drama, but having a person ask a question, then have the camera zoom in on the face of the person he's asking, whilst eeire music builds up in the background, then not get an answer, then repeating this 3 or 4 times, isn't drama at all....it's stalling.

Sorry for that rant :D
