Television Lost: The Final Season

Watched it all once again for the third time and it is still probably my favourite show of all time.

Realised that Jacob is not a good guy. Killed his brother and took the side of the woman who killed his mother, plus he killed people to bring the candidates to the Island (sayid’s partner)

Absolutely. Jacob was a smug self serving asshole. Ben did the right thing killing him.

Smoke Monster/Man in Black was right all along.

Also purged the Dharma Initiative peeps.

Finally finished it for first time.

Spoilers , don’t read ahead if you haven’t seen..

Really enjoyed it but is it basically plane crashes on island cause some lad (/jacob) wanted a replacement protector. Island is some weird unexplained anomaly. Jacob’s Brother is some weird smoke monster and it’s not clear why him getting off island is bad.

And seperatley at the end , as Jack is dieing, there’s a parallel sort of purgatory place where the characters of the show are all dead and have to remember their time on the island before they can move onto the next life and jacks the last one?

Pretty much. Also the island is a literal cork holding the world together.

Finally got my partner to agree to watch this. Her first time. Third rewatch for me. That pilot episode is so damn good. I found myself feeling so much with just little scenes because I know what some of these characters become. Jin just looking like an absolute arsehole but knowing that he almost becomes comic relief at one point

Start a reaction channel. Lost still has a crazy following and you could monetise it in no time.

So she was reluctant to even start this show and now she’s tearing up at scenes

On around episode 18 I think so close to when Boone dies. I think she’ll absolutely sob when Vincent tries to follow the raft :(

You should force her to take a break when they discover Desmond's bunker like we all had to at the time.

I mean it’s 20 years old but you don’t feel that at all watching it. It was ahead of its time. I still adore it.
Does it hold up well? I remember giving up and not watching the final season because so many questions remained unanswered. And I found the main character (Jack?) so dull. But tempted to maybe give it another go.

It's amazing and Jack's arc is one of the best in all of television.

Yeah it holds up great. When you watch it like people do most series today and don’t expect an answer to everything and just enjoy the ride it’s fantastic.

I swear we had a PM convo where you used to send me your reactions to episodes

Yes it is really worth another watch. I just watched it again for the third time and still got really invested in it.

Some people didn’t like the ending but I thought it was pretty beautiful (and sad) how they did it.

Spends season upon season wanting to get off the island and then when he's off, he starts begging to go back to the island

feck me I miss this show. I might try get the wife to watch it like you did.

I’m already so looking forward to that twist. I don’t think she’ll see it coming at all.

Which is a better moment - that or the reveal at the end of Walkabout?
We have to go back is one of the greatest twists ever imo. The walkabout one is cool but there’s hints (Locke looking at his toes moving, always sitting down in the flashback, etc..)

That's why I love that moment more. It was obvious when you rewatch. It was then I knew that show was going to be phenomenal.

Just watched the Boone episode. Such a great one. So many storylines wonderfully woven together and crossing throughout. Jin’s early character arc redemption as you start to like him more, him being the one to find Claire and run to Jack meaning he has to interact with Sun, Kate delivering the baby, Jack’s stubbornness to let Boone go, Shannon being away the whole time, Jin’s little way of stopping Charlie charging in  and then it ends with more drama as Jack goes off to find Locke. Just wonderful chaos.
