Liverpool : General discussion

Liverpool are at their lowest point in years.Stevie Me hasn't been replaced, Suarez ( who almost won the title for them) hasn't been replaced and is not likely to be, Sturridge is too injury prone although he has class, Coutinho is a lightweight and the rest are dross.Lallana was a shocking waste of cash, so too Lovren.Klopp is a top manager but you can't win the derby with a donkey!
Long may it continue.

Apparently QPR have told Rob Green that he is free to leave the club and Liverpool are interested.

That shocking win away v City, and away wins at Chelsea and Southampton look very much to have been a colossal false dawn, and reality is biting. An absolutely average squad.

Wonder how the knee jerkers who feared he was going to compete for the league this year feel!

The week Flopp arrived loads of Scousers announced they put money on them winning the league. Shame it's all gone a bit pear shaped.

How much did you put on? Be honest now...

If it means anything, when Klopp arrived, I predicted Europa League with an outside shot at top 4, with City/Arsenal challenging for the title, and United scraping top 4 :wenger:

Last spring I predicted Mourinho would walk the title again this year, though... Can't be right all the time.

If hardly bet on Liverpool games but when I do, I always back the other team not to lose. Couldn't care less about the money if we end up winning.

That's the ideal way to do it (if you're not a Bayern/Barcelona fan). Win? Hell yeah, we won! Don't win? Made some money, at least!

Given how shite Liverpool are, the odds on that must be terrible.

Had a quick look and even against Norwich this weekend they're odds on not to lose to you.

And they always lose to Liverpool.

He's a great talent.

Supposed to be. When I have seen him get chances at senior level, he looks lost. I know he's only young, but it's hard to see how he would make an impact with us anytime soon. Ojo looks like he has more in his locker.
Interesting. Wonder where he will go. City to join Sterling?

He is going to Spain.

No tribunal fee if he does that and a heftier signing on fee.

Liverpool have had the most shots of any team in PL from outside the box. 161 of their 365 shots (44.11%).

Of those 161 shots outside the box, only 35 were on target (21.74%).

Of those 161 shots outside the box, only 5 have been scored (3.11%)

Pretty damning stats if you ask me. I thought the problem was with Rodgers but clearly it runs deeper than that.

I couldn't believe how many goes Henderson had from a ridiculous distance. He's not exactly a great striker of the ball, so I'm assuming they've been coached to just have a go from wherever they like on the pitch.

Klopp's Dortmund team also had an incredible number of shots from outside the box. They were just better at them. I think it's something he encourages.

Coutinho has had 48 shots outside the box alone. That's more than half of Arsenal's team total. 2 were goals (4.17%).

Henderson, Lallana, Ibe, Can, Moreno, Clyne and Milner have had 80 shots. Only 1 was a goal - Milner vs Villa (1.25%).

Moreno, Clyne and Ibe have had 36 shots from outside the box with only 2 being on target (5.56%). Therefore they wasted an opportunity to create something or retain possession (94.44%).

 Gotta laugh at that. Holy donkey balls that's a lot of fluffed chances.

Some of those shots will be calculated as part of chances created. It's why I think that chances created stat is BS. But in our own case we get into good positions quite often but are too stupid to test the keeper. It would not be considered a chance created.

They seem to be busy shooting from distance whenever I watch them.

Well, Coutinho is league's leader when it comes to number of shots per game, so that stats isn't surprising. Add few pointless shots per game from Henderson, and you have two players with Steve Me's ego on the pitch thinking of winning the games all by themselves, which probably inflates the number of chances per game too and leaves you with a team that is wasting so much in final third with pointless shots.
