Liverpool : General discussion

Closer to the relegation zone than the top.

By 1 point :D We'll get neither. 6th place again this year, me thinks...

19 points from 14 games since Klopp took over
P:14 W:5 L:5 D:4

Rodgers had 12 from 8.. So he has been doing worse than what got Rodgers sacked.

I thought you guys were as bad as us but you definitely more threatening in the final third.

The general level of the match was really crap. Amazing to think that this is the state of Man Utd and Liverpool.

For all the jokes though, the process is clearly getting better under Klopp and it'll start working more consistently, I've no doubt. On any other day you'd have won against us comfortably.

If Leicester fall away, you'll get them at the end I still feel. There's still only a 13 point swing in it and in this season of all seasons, that's an attainable gap. It's certainly not beyond the realms of being reasonably ambitious.

What is a Lallana and what does it actually do? It's not like he's stuck in centre-mid position recycling like Cleverly used to etc, he's meant to be an attacker. He's not that young either. Ghostliest footballer I've ever (not) seen, find it all baffling, especially since 'Pool spent 25 on him.

I think today highlighted a lot of their problems, and why Klopp needs plenty of time to build his own squad. They often looked like the more dangerous side. They pressed well, and were able to make a number of incisive passes, but they had no end product to it because the players they have just aren't good enough at the moment. Henderson in particular squandered a number of decent chances.

I thought we were a bit better honestly, but both teams were alarmingly shite. We were absolutely toothless up front, and were punished accordingly by what was a great strike tbf.

Put Coutinho or Sturridge in that starting XI for 90 minutes & I'd wager the game would've ended differently, but you can't play Hendo/Firmino/Lallana/Milner as a funky front four and expect much to happen

Firmino will shine once he has better players around him. It's time for FSG to pull out the cheque book.

Henderson is an awful player. I really hope he features in the Liverpool first team for many years. Can too, another awful player.

Come on mate, Sturridge isn't going to complete 90 minutes :wenger:

That's genuinely why I added "for 90 minutes" :D Have to live a lil fantasy once in a whiile.

Hendo has just come back from injury & played further up the pitch than he's used to, so I'm willing to cut him some slack. Can grew into the game pretty well I thought.

Player for player, I don't think they are better than us but they have a lot more natural energy in their side. I still think we are marginally the better team.

They have more attacking intent than us. But I can say that about almost every other team in the league.

They are a terrible team, Liverpool fans are being conned big time.

Coutinho has been horrible since december and sturridge playing seems as likely as John Lennon coming back to life

Find it strange when people say that the process is definitely starting to work even though there have been lots of games under Rodgers where they played even better than today. Remember the 3-0 loss vs us when Ddg was motm? Playing cute football has not been their issue, getting results playing that way is the main issue.

They weren't better than that at all that day. They were utterly dreadful when they came to Old Trafford.

Now that Benteke has been benched who is the next scapegoat that Liverpool fans wish to blame?

I feel Klopp has been given an easy ride by the media whereas Rodgers was getting more out of the squad earlier in the season

Imagine there's no hamstring,
It's easy if you try.
No more feigning injury,
No more chances to cry.

It's an undisputed fact that points wise Rodgers was getting more out of this team.

He also did well in the cups for them, while Klopp drew with Exeter.

Absolutely bizarre how much time he is being given. I like it, more managers deserve it, but he's been there for months now,

Edit: two away games in a row coming up.

Is that it for big teams that we face this season? Mixed feelings about that as we tend do well against them rather than the mid table clubs that come to defend and rely solely on set pieces.

We need all our remaining games to be away from home to stand a chance of winning them.

We still have City/Spurs/Chelsea all to come to Anfield, and an away game vs Leicester which could be shocking.

Would have been interesting had Sturridge played. Some Liverpool players squandered chances he would probably bury. Klopp needs a lethal attacker and to improve the defensive organisation.

He's absolutely pointless, turns and turns while producing nothing. This is basically his highlight reel:

I absolutely despise the narrative around us and Liverpool at the minute.
The press and media have been going about how unlucky Liverpool are. If only they have a point man, a focal point up front, they would have won the match and more games easily.
Every seems to want to ignore the fact that they have a £35m striker they just bought a few months back on the bench.
We would have Ben getting kicked left p, right and center if we were in that position.

Is Adam Lallana still an actual football player or does he just appear in ads now and give weekly interviews with the press about how swell Klopp is?

He's been awful for them. No goals since May. £25M for an attacking midfielder who offers zero goals or assists. Just looks quite pretty on the ball at times.

As for Henderson, as decent as I think he is, he's essentially their replacement for Gerrard. And the difference between the 2 is staggering.

I noticed that Henderson in particular looked quite poor when it came to that yesterday.
He's working to take over Gerrard's role in the team - being captain of that team means going for goal at every opportunity and blasting the ball wide or over from absurd angles. I think he's doing a tremendous job in that respect :smirk:

Henderson is a truly awful player. I'm frequently amazed how much praise he gets for having almost no football brain and very average ability. I can only assume it's because he's good at sticking his gormless face into every single flashpoint that happens on the pitch. See how he went snarling into the Lucas v Fellaini fake stamping incident yesterday.

Clearly responding only to Lucas' pantomime stamping actions in which he was essentially inventing a stamp that replays showed never happened, in went Henderson, gurning and twisting his lip and generally acting the cnut.

He then attempted several hilarious long range shots when it would have been better to keep possession.

Ladies and Gentlemen... I give you the Liverpool captain. AKA the fake white hope.

They're absolute shite. Zero cutting edge. To be 6 points behind this United side is a sackable offense in itself.
