Liverpool : General discussion

Hendo and Sakho are fit. Whether it's against Arsenal or Utd is to be seen.

As an Arsenal fan I'd worry about the gegenpress that these mediocre players will use against you. The likes of Hendo and Allen have already run amok with the likes of Ozil, etc. They've ALL had a week's rest too and are all playing for their futures.

#LFC boost as Klopp says Toure, Sakho, Henderson and Ibe could all return for Arsenal.

Possible/probable team. I doubt due to the injury list that anyone will be 'nursed' back into the team. If they are fit enough for the bench they'll be fit enough to start.

-------------- Mignolet -----------------

Clyne -- Toure -- Sakho -- Moreno

Henderson ------ Milner --------- Can

Ibe --------- Firmino -------- Lallana

An alternative would be Lucas at DM and Henderson coming on later from the bench. If Ibe isn't fit (though it seems he is) then Texeira on our left and Lallana shifts to our right.

subs: Ward, Ilori, Randall, Smith, Allen, Brannagan or Teixeira, Benteke

Holy hell that made me laugh

Gomez & Ings were injured on/on their way back from international duty, and Hendo's injuries have been going on since before Klopp arrived... And yeah, Sturridge is just buggered.

The rest of them? I don't know how much Klopp's style is to blame, but it isn't good.

Now when i saw Ings on that list, did Liverpool even spunk the money for him or its still pending on that panel deciding the proper amount?

Firmino is taking a very long time to hit the ground running, bit disappointed actually.

They have hardly any fit CBs.

a. Either spend 20m+ on an upgrade (very unrealistic)
b. Buy a stop gap
c. Loan a stop gap

If he's shit then he goes back to QPR. They have nothing to lose.

Well, they could lose a fair few games when playing a completely terrible CB....

It's just another option for them to have while the injured players are still out. He's better than Enrique and has some experience.

He has a pulse which puts him above Enrique.

This is right. Matip won't move until the summer and his club wouldn't let Subotic move on loan so options were very limited. Better than playing Lucas I guess.

Liverpool FC will have had an average of less than three days rest between games over the course of January and December this season, according to research.

The Reds’ punishing schedule means that an average of just 2.9 days separates their fixtures between 2 December 2015 and 26 January 2016.

That’s fewer than any other club from Europe’s four biggest leagues (England, Germany, Italy and Spain) to have qualified for European competitions this season.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has remarked repeatedly about his surprise at the sheer amount of games his side has had to play.

Since taking over from Brendan Rodgers, Klopp has overseen no fewer than 20 games in all competitions, a figure will that have risen to 25 by the end of this month with games to come in the Premier League, FA Cup and Capital One Cup.

By contrast, Manchester City have had an average of 3.3 days between games during the same period, Tottenham 3.6 days while Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United have all had an average of 4.1 days.

Just some time back I was wondering why Liverpool get so few injury crisis'.

He has been massively overrated because of his crazy inflated stats in 13/14. He's really not that special in my opinion and I'm not surprised that he struggles outside of Hoffenheim's insane gung-ho tactics.

i like him, he isnt anything special but its clear that he is a good player and he plays decent/good since Klopp took over(watched almost every game). Very good movement, good football brain, keeps it simple and works hard....its not his fault that he has idiots(football wise) around himself.

That's life in Emglish football. If you are competing in every competition you will pls an insane amount of games. It may even get worse in may.

They've played a few first teamers in every round of the League Cup. That's almost a bit naive knowing you're also in the Europa League. Klopp made a choice to play probably his strongest team available against Stoke in the last round, and 2-3 players got injured. They've created this fixture pile up- and I'm getting tired of them complaining about it.

Personally think Caulker is a good stop-gap solution.
They might surprise Arsenal today. Klopp is good in the big games.

I think it'll be a good game. Gutted I won't be able to watch it.

Yay for Liverpool topping the Fewest Days Rest Between Games Over the Christmas Period League Table. Gashtag moral victory.

:D It is pretty unfair on us, honestly.

I don't think that the stat with the fewest rest takes into account that Klopp will probably field two times a second team against the opposition (against Exeter in FA Cup).
So it's just numbers without a meaning.

Did the transfer committee underestimate the way Benteke influences the play and at the same time overestimate he's ability to adapt? I mean he wasn't a natural fit for Rodgers and he isn't one for Klopp.

I think they were just desperate for a decent striker because of Sturridge's fitness worries and jumped at the chance of Benteke. Definitely not a natural fit at all for them though.

Lallana is such a nothing player at Liverpool, he wasn't this bad at Southampton? He just doesn't do anything.

@RobinLFC

Grabara signed for you lot, or so canal+ claim and they don't mess around with rumours so it's probably confirmed.

Edit: checked Ruch's website, it's confirmed.

Nice, thanks for the heads up!

It'll be interesting to see how it pans out, with Danny Ward being recalled from his loan spell at Aberdeen as well. If Grabara is already good and mature enough, he should be part of our first team squad asap. Goalkeeper position is probably our biggest concern right now.

Ward was excellent at Aberdeen, you can never be sure but he looks the part. We will miss him that's for sure.

:wenger: Are you paid to be deluded?

Incorrect data and fortuitous selection of dates

You'll have played 16 games in this period vs 15 for City and 12 each for United and Arsenal. The difference vs City? The Exeter replay . The difference vs United and Arsneal? Exeter replay and 3 Carling Cup ties (United and Arsenal are knocked out). So essentially, you're whining about progressing further into the competition.

See how wonderfully the start and end dates have been selected to include the Carling Cup ties on 2nd of DEc and 26 of Jan. Dont count those games and you'll have played only 2 more than United and Arsenal. And even if count that, Liverpool has player ONE more game than City. That too due to its own doing. Bloody victims
