Liverpool 2016/17 - Performance and chat thread.

Was a great game. We should have finished them off in the first half. Coutinho is now a fully fledged Iniesta replacement.

I so hope you're wrong but I have a feeling we might see huge bids for both him and Firmino come the summer. If we make top 4 it will give us a slightly better chance of hanging onto them, but if Barca or Real come knocking it will be tough to keep them.

Coutinho has gone up a level this season. His passing has improved immensely.

That's what the match reports said . His passing was boss and on a different level.

D'youse reckon his off ? Nah . Fook it . Too far ahead to think for me .

Henderson to was on blob . Was he ?

Henderson gave a great pass for the Firmino goal and made some great tackles in the game.

I think Coutinho is settled and happy in Liverpool, I don't think he'll push to go.

You should definitely watch the match back when it appears on youtube. Our attacking display was absolutely sublime at times, especially in the first half.

Aye, Coutinho was on a different planet that first half.

I think they go very far this season and won't be surprised if they won it

A fairly relaxing schedule (without Europe) and don't seem to be picking up many injuries. Teams don't seem to understand how to play against them and when they do they're a goal down and open to the counter attack.

A few things are in their favour this year, the bastards.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I think Liverpool will win the league. They are beating top clubs as well as mid and lower-table teams.

One criticism is that Klopp's style will tire the players out come the vital march/April push. Fair. But not applicable to Liverpool, as they do not have Europe to distract or tire them.

I hope I'm wrong. But Liverpool are looking good this year. Even when they are not playing great they are getting points. The league is theirs and they need to capitalise when Arsenal have their annual capitulation and City start focusing more on Europe, a strength of Pep's.

They won't win the league unless their defense improves. Their attack will go through a blip at some point, be it for 3-4 games, and they will need their defense to sneak a tight win. I am not even sure they will do as well as their last title challenge since Suarez bailed them out at times that season while this time even if their overall attack is as great as that season, no single player is upto that twat's level.

They seem like a shoe-in for top 3 though.

There's never been a freer header in the history of free headers than the Matip goal today. And now it looks like Palace should have had about 4 penalties as well. First Zaha one is a decent shout, anyway.

Easy win, if the defending improves, without Moreno mainly, & the stamina over the season holds up (why shouldn't it?) This is On !!!

Nice Swan.

I seen a thing before on Henderson's touches , passes etc . 84% completed passes out of 64 or something.

That's Yan Molby stuff ;)

Gettin' on to that youtube stuff now.

Posts like this make me feel good .

Luckily United held on for the draw at Anfield. If Liverpool had led 4-2 and Firmino came running after the goalie and players at the corner flagpole in the 89th minute like he did today, Mourinho probably would have complained about harrassment afterwards. The guy is just massive. Very few in the world can maintain this sort of workrate and remain a consistent passing and scoring threat.

Coutinho is from Brazil, its in their DNA to be seduced by Spain. Only a matter of time

None were penalties, the first Zaha one wasn't even close he was looking for it.

If we are talking about what could have happened, we could easily have had 7 or 8.

Real are pretty stacked on his position and have a transfer ban, and Barca are notoriously broke. He'd make for an excellent Ribery replacement, though. Here's hoping for a cheeky bid from us:D

I thought Zaha ran into him for the Matip one, like a beginner-Vardy a little bit. Hence my desperately quoting the 1st one as the best claim out of the set of fairly feeble claims. LFC won easy enough though didn't they? Can't get away from that.

I didn't think any of them were penalties but on some days I guess another ref may have given one of them.
At half time it was 2-3 but in reality we dominated and should have been out of sight. It's no exaggeration to say we could have scored more goals as we hit the woodwork twice and missed some clear cut chances too.
It was closer than it should have been but given Palace's reputation for being good at set pieces 3 points there is always a good result.

It's the quality of chances this Liverpool side create that makes them so dangerous. You can create chances and apply pressure but fail to score because it's just too difficult and not quite easy enough to finish.

In Dalglish's last season Liverpool pummelled the post every game. But it wasn't just down to sloppy finishing, it was because chances were a fraction too difficult. This side lay chances on a plate time and again.

What are you talking about?

Yesterday did nothing to change my mind on Liverpool.

Great going forward and easy on the eye. Not so great at the back and you feel they will always concede.

Can they improve at the back? Can they get away with remaining like this all season? Time will tell. Interesting team to watch though.

If an alien listened to fans and experts talk about Liverpool, they´d think it´s better to draw 0-0 than to win 4-2. United have won the league with the 5th best defense. Nobody has won the league with the 5th best offense in the last decade.

I feel like we've got two issues defensively:

1. Individual errors which seem to occur more often during open play. Lovren's mistake for Palace's first goal is an example of this and Lucas gifting the ball to Vardy against Leicester is another.

2. Collective errors due to a lack of organisation and poor communication is the other issue. The goal we conceded against West Brom is an example of that and these collective mistakes seem to occur mainly at set pieces or via crosses into the box.

The second problem can be fixed through training. I think Klopp may need to move away from zonal marking but I think he's hesitant due to our lack of physicality within the side. Man for man I think there's a few sides in the league that can at least match us physically so I guess we'll stay with the zonal marking and hopefully the players improve with time.

I'm not sure what the solution to the first problem is though. Individual errors usually come about due to complacency or a lack of concentration. A mistake like Lovren's yesterday doesn't seem like something that can be fixed via coaching so the question is whether or not our players can cut it out of their game.

I think our attack will see us through a few games like yesterday but we definitely need to improve defensively if we're serious about being title contenders.

Does Bayern have a £100m lying around? You do realise Couts isn't German and Klopp's no longer at Dortmund?

Relax:lol: I just like him as a player and would be glad if we were in for if he wanted to leave sometime in the future.

Good post.

oh go on, I'll bite

thinking of getting 100 million for Coutinho seems a bit optimistic to me

and isn't he an annoying-looking little berk too, :D
