Liverpool 2014/15 | WARNING: Contains strong amounts of Scouse nonsense

So instead of singing 6-7 average players why not sign 2-3 top players?
Because those 2-3 top players of course don't want to go there, at the time being. Wages is one reason, but it's definitely not the own, despite what the scousers on here want to believe.

The line-up is an embarrassment. Resting players is one thing but the 11 tonight is just throwing the towel in.

I said when he was purchased and still to this day that Emre Can is Javi Garcia mark II. He isn't quick enough to be a top DM in the Premier League. He is clumsy and not technically good on the ball either

Javi Garcia actually ended his City career excellently. He isn't a world class player but he proved very effective when it mattered at the end of the season. If Can can reach the level Garcia did in parts, he'll be a good signing, but that's it.

Spot on. I remember saying during the summer that Liverpool will need 2-3 years of sustained CL football to ever attract a world class player. I would always laugh whilst reading idiots on RAWK suggesting they buy Vidal and the like during this past summer. As if any player of that quality would even consider Liverpool.

Jesus that team tonight, they waited all this time to get back into the CL and then they do this against Madrid. Gotta love those big cup nights.

Still, if they come away with a half-decent result, the press will be hailing Brendan's tactical masterclass. I bet that hasn't even occurred to Brendan.

That's why I left out Falcao.

Also I'm still waiting on all these Lovren team of the year things (lol barney)

Di Maria is also on massive wages. We cannot afford £200k+. £200k is just about our limit and even then it would have to be someone of Suarez's ability (top three players in the world).

It was the one done at Christmas time that Lovren was in most of, my mistake.

This whole throwing in the towel is a bit pathetic but the chances are, even with a full strength team they would lose. If I'm correct, it's head to head rather than GD anyway.

Liverpool beat Basel and Ludofghdug and they will probably go through I believe unless one of those teams takes points off Real Madrid which is unlikely. They also have a more important game on the weekend.

If I was a Liverpool fan, I'd be fuming though, would like my team to at least give it a shot before giving up.

City have shown that if you pay the ridiculous wages players will come. We aren't in the same financial bracket as you which is why you can afford to give multiple players £200k+ a week contracts.

Amazing thing is that the group is so close that a point vs Madrid could virtually decide second place. Also if Liverpool lose today then Real will be virtually guaranteed top place and will probably rest players for Basel away which could properly screw Liverpool

So how strong will the #RodgersOut calls be if they get battered here and then again at the weekend after just losing in embarrassing fashion to Newcastle this past weekend?

Sir Brenton Julius Angus Theodor Callum Rogers III esq. pulls off one of the most tactically astute selections of the decade.

At the end of the season, they'll put a giant envelope in the centre circle at Anfield and Rodgers will climb out of it like Vince McMahon revealing he was the higher power all along.

Well, Di Maria is one of the best in the world, but anyway, take him out if you wish, point still stands really. You can afford top players, you can't attract them, that's pretty evident based on recent activity.

We could attract them if we had the money that City and you lot have though. That is also evident. We don't though. Di Maria is world class, but Suarez was a cut above.

 Rodgers has actually done it. Hopefully Madrid show them no mercy and demolish them, they deserve it having such an enbarssing defeatist attitude. They wait 5 years to get in the champions league then give up before kick off and play the reserves when they come up against Madrid.

Now watch Real not even try and the match end in a boring 0:0. The delusion on RAWK would be bliss and create the right platform for a proper meltdown against Chelsea. Believe!

Even if Madrid don't try, they'll still end up scoring 5 goals against that sorry team.

City have an endless budget but surely under ffp it will even the playing field for Liverpool as they are a much bigger club right.
Obviously your post reads like an admission that you feel Liverpool aren't as big a club these days.

The official team sheets aren’t in yet, but we do know the Liverpool starting XI. Here it is! Mignolet, Manquillo, Toure, Skrtel, Moreno, Lucas, Can, Allen, Lallana, Markovic, Borini. A distinctly League Cup flavour, some would argue, with star men Steven Gerrard, Raheem Sterling, Philippe Coutinho, Mario Balotelli and Jordan Henderson on the bench. And Brad Jones. And Glen Johnson. But look at it another way: Kolo Toure has been part of a defence to leave the Bernabeu with a win, alongside erstwhile Arsenal colleagues Philippe Senderos, Emmanuel Eboue and Mathieu Flamini back in 2006. So anything’s possible. And this starting XI did cost £112.5m, to be fair.

But you could afford every player bought in the PL this summer (bar Di Maria, if you want it your way), so that's bullshit. Clearly you're just not an attractive enough proposition for players. Sanchez picked Arsenal over you, for example.

If Henderson is mediocre, then what term would you use to describe Wilshere who Henderson has completely surpassed?

Pure delusion. Henderson is a 6.5/10 player at best, punching above his weight. Wilshere is a 9/10 player at best. The difference between the two is that Wilshere is a sicknote

No, we couldn't because we can't afford their wages!!!

Gas, I can't be arsed to get into a a stupid argument with you. If that's what you want to take out of it then go ahead.

I refuse to believe those players out weren't bursting to play at a stadium like this. It's what you dream of. I imagine there are a few pissed off people tonight.

Hardly a ringing endorsement of his team and a confidence booster.

Extremely harsh. I was a big critic of Henderson but over the last year or so he's been excellent. I even like him as a player, underrated imo.

Wow... and Liverpool still think they're a big club? I'd be absoloutely furious if Mourinho picked a second string side against them when we need the points to quality.

Truly pathetic. instead of thinking of ways to tactically outdo Real Madrid given up and lubed up. surely this isn't the attitude to have as a big club, surely.
