Liverpool 2014/15 | WARNING: Contains strong amounts of Scouse nonsense

That is so funny on so many levels. I hope next season you get Ronaldo AND Messi on the same principle.
Well as per you lot, we were going to struggle to bring in the big names whereas you lot would were going to have a go at the top players. The way it eventually turned out, I'm glad you can now see the funny side of it.

I'd put Lallana on the level that Eriksen is right now. He's a tier below the very good playmakers like Isco, Pjanic, Cabaye, ... but he's miles away from the level Di Maria, Fabregas and David Silva are consistently reaching the last few years (Fabregas less so at Barcelona of course). Those last three players can have a big, immediate impact on a team and really take it to another level, whereas I think Lallana is a very good player in a team that's in full flow (like Liverpool was last year and even Southampton to a lesser extent) but won't take his team to the next level all by himself.

Although I agree that Silva has very good technical ability, to me it's not that what sets him apart. His vision and understanding of the game is what really makes him a top notch midfielders and one of the best in the world. Hazard has far more technical skills than Silva or Fabregas, imo.

'technical ability/skills' is a term that doesn't really have a steadfast definition so it's down to interpretation but I can't see how Hazard has 'far more technical skills' than Silva no matter how you define them.

Silva is otherworldly - Hazard, at the moment, is not on his level. Whether he can do more kick-ups or step-overs is irrelevant; Hazard is not as good at playing football, the part that matters, as Silva.

I meant the trickery and the dribbling itself, Hazard can blast past players in all different kind of ways. That's something Silva can't do, but you can't really compare them because they're not the same kind of players.

I never said that Hazard was on Silva's level, I only pointed out that, for me, he has more technical ability than Silva. But like Bobby said, that's down to interpretation. Kick-ups and step-overs are indeed irrelevant if you want to see who is the better player, but they are a part of technical ability to me.

That's fair enough.

Not quite as good a crosser though.
Excellent

I thought you guys were being a bit harsh on Rafateria and the Lallana signing earlier, and then he went all Scouse on us and drew ridiculous comparisons (the 50% of Di Maria, then the technical ability).

But I actually think Lallana is one of their few summer signings that will work out decently well, notwithstanding his tag price (which is unfair to judge him by, I feel, he's not responsible for it, and it's just the way it goes for PL transfers + English players).

Yes, he'll probably work out pretty well, the problem is that he's just not going to help Liverpool become the top PL team that they aspire to be, none of their summer signings are, not in the immediate future anyway.

Tbf I only contested the claim that he's been excellent or very very good so far. I don't think that's a harsh opinion of him.

I agree, I can't remember each individual claim. My perception is probably somewhat skewed in that I've only seen their WBA game (in which I indeed thought he was very good), and in any case I didn't want to draw any definite conclusions on him based on that, as I saw him quite a bit last year.

I think I agree with you guys in that I think he's a solid PL player, with technical ability superior to the English norm but nowhere near any of the stars Rafateria listed (which says more about the 'English norm' than Lallana really), who will turn out to be a handy player for them, won't especially elevate them but won't be a flop by any standards (which I think other of their summer recruits will be).

Excellent work Rafateria. Stepping up to the plate as most crazy scouser on the boards, in the absence of Barney.

What happened with him? Was he banned or did he just decided to leave. He was a very good poster before he went full mental during their slip for the title.

Absolutely. The only thing Hazard really excels at is manufacturing fouls.

Theres Silva, Cesc, and Di Maria

Then theres 50 feet of crap,

Then theres Lallana.

Made some wild prediction that Liverpool would win the league this year and has seemingly asked to banned, can't really blame him tbf.

Wait a minute........

If you take away the points Man City won because of their mercenaries you have won the moral PL trophy.

You can also play in the moral CL next season if we take your place. Even thought its our own money I'm sure your scouse logic can get you in.

So true, how's that bitey striker, whos salary you increased to your record high last season, working out for you right now?

Oop$... Guess money doesn't get you everything, must be another factor :D

Yea you don't need money when you've got Brendan. And £130 million pounds.
Haha, the lure of van Gaal gets us Di Maria, the lure of Brentan signs them Mighty Red!:lol::lol:

Didn't spot white text, but they didn't need £130m, they also have rawkenomics and net spend, they are all gravy.... And £130m war chest to waste

You only have to take a glance at the gems he unearthed in the summer. Who else could have pulled off the signings of Lambert, Lallana, Lovren and that mad fecker from Italy? Brendon doesn't even need scouts working for him. The guys a one man army.

I'm pretty sure Pool have a transfer 'committee' which I'm guessing won't stop him from buying the players he wants but there was talk(mostly in the papers)that the 'Commitee' brought Balotelli.

Still even if this is true it doesn't excuse Brendon from buying the likes of Lambert and Lovern(Lallana looked decent but nothing more)

Yea, that was the b£st bit about dumbstars post, they've not sp£nt much l£ss than United, just don£ it much more poorly.
But they do have the second coming of Christ in Lallana, managed by the Lord God Brendan himself, it's going well so far.

I like the look of Lallana so far. Reminds me of a slightly less gifted but more switched on Benayoun. He might even nail down a first team spot. Looks like he might exceed my expectations.

Impressive from the 26 year old, twenty-five million pound man.

Lallana is nice to watch. He has the languid -almost Berbatov style- of play.

I don't really care about that. He's a decent player and signed now, I'll appreciate him for what he delivers on the pitch.

Incredibly high praise there...

I think Lallana is a decent player but I don't know if he'll ever be anything more than that.

Liverpool signed the players they wanted according to Brentan. So I dont know why Liverpool fans are so bitter at us signing Di Maria.

I would go with Jimmy Bullard, late bloomer, good season in a midtable side.
