Liverpool 2014/15 | WARNING: Contains strong amounts of Scouse nonsense

There was, significantly so. That's why he left.

Falcao is a textbook merc really. Left Atletico to play for bleeding Monaco, spent the summer tweeting HalaMadrid, then declares his boyhood love for United when they come calling.

Not that it matters really. Suarez is anything but loyal but he still cared more than anyone on the pitch.

Not saying that Falcao is a loyal player but on what account are you saying he does not give his 100% or does not care when he plays? How is it different to the Suarez situation where he tried to leave one season to Arsenal and then left the next to Barca.

That was my point - I don't think mercenaries necessarily give less. Look at Tevez.

Tevez fecked off for 6 months though and generally acted like a grade A cnut wherever he played. Some certainly give less, look at Adeybeyor and Robinho and a few others at City. Although I agree some of them still give 100% on the pitch.

I don't know how anyone can claim ADM was a mercenary. Madrid didn't want him and he went to another big club instead. You can hardly blame him for that.

Norwegian starlet Martin Odegaard is planning to choose a move to Liverpool, despite interest from Manchester United and Barcelona.

Odegaard is already expected to be a world star, even though he is just 15 years old, and he has already turned out for Norway this week in the European Championship qin over Bulgaria.

And according to the Metro, he grew up supporting the Merseyside club and is ready to secure his dream move to Brendan Rodger's side.

The Reds have hardly set the Premier League alight this season, and will also need reinforcements to come straight in, but Odegaard will certainly be one for the future.

Rodgers' team struggled past QPR today in a match that ended 3-2, with four of the goals coming in the last eight minutes.

Recent signing Mario Balotelli had another poor game for the Anfield club, struggling to have an impact and blazing one chance over the bar with the goal gaping.

Rodgers will no doubt be a busy man when the new year comes around, as he hopes to get his side into the top four.

What is the deal with Origi's contract? Can he be transferred in January or is it a definite season loan at Lille (I think it is Lille)? Seems like Liverpool could really use him at the moment. Balotelli and Lambert don't really offer much.

Bad idea. What's the point in fast tracking a player, putting him under instant pressure, when the prevailing view half a season earlier was that he'd benefit from a loan spell?

Half a season earlier Liverpool didn't look this awful up-front. By the time January comes around you would expect Sturridge to be fit anyway. I'm just saying they might use him as insurance because Balotelli and Lambert look dreadful. I don't expect it to happen though.

It's Lille, yeah. It was definitely a season long loan, we wanted to keep him but Lille insisted that if they were to sell him their had to be a loan back clause.

Guess we could pay them to terminate it, whether we would and whether it'd be worth it is another matter.

I think people don't understand the complexity of Falcao's ownership issues, and the fact he never wanted to go to Monaco. He jumped ship as soon as he could.

Anyone seen this?

Does anyone have stats on how many goals Balotelli has from penalties and freekicks?

From what I gather 19 of his goals have come from penalties (10 at Milan, 8 at City, 1 at Inter).

He scored 5 further goals from free kicks at Milan. Can't find his FK stats from his time at City or Inter.

I still think they will somehow fluke finishing ahead of us. Their luck (slipgate aside) knows no bounds lately.

It's really extreme. I've never seen a team rescued by luck and bizarre refereeing so frequently. Of course, with every pundit either being an open Liverpool supporter or at least growing up when they were winning everything, nobody acknowledges this in the media.

Yes, because Gary Neville is extremely vocal in his support of Liverpool.

Having just played them they are nothing like an awful side. They've got strong midfielders who will press on Blind and Maria. Wisdom didn't play against us (loan agreement) so he'll bolster their defence. And of course Berahino who'll be itching for another high profile scalp related pay rise.

You're now playing against proper teams. If you beat Brom you won't hear me complaining about how crap they played against you, etc.

Here's what I wrote in the match thread 10 days ago. I really didn't believe Man Utd had enough to win this game, and my prediction was 2-1 to West Brom. Close.

Anyway, I'm probably talking to myself now as you'll only be getting 1 point out of these 9 (WBA, Chelsea, City) so the likes of mali, gregster, gasmanc, Lawman, and God knows how many others showed up in this thread won't be seen for a while.

Real will be putting ten past you over two the two CL games. We can come back to laugh at that.

Plus you will be dropping plenty of points in the PL. Its not as if you will win anything. Also you will be getting 0 points out of City away,Chelsea at home. You have a habit of slipping up V Jose.

I said earlier I'd snap your hand off if you offered me a 5-0 defeat against Real and 3 jammy points from QPR. You can now sit back and enjoy CL football this week. :D

Edit: oh and I applaud you for showing up. ;)

I lived through the 80s so having to listen to plastic scousers isnt a problem.

It's selective analysis to suggest Liverpool gain more from luck and refereeing than others. It just feels like that in the eyes of a bitter rival. Look at Jagielka's equaliser from nothing in the derby after Everton did bugger all for 90 minutes. That's poor luck whereas yesterday was good luck. But the Everton equaliser doesn't get included in the "luck" narrative because rivals forget that stuff.

Not complaining, just pointing out the nature of rivalry.

You probably won't be enjoying it too much either :D

I don't know about Real smashing them at Anfield, they've got Barca on saturday and don't really need the win to top the group. Wouldn't be surprised to see them field a 'weaker' 11. The Bernabeu leg though... Question to our resident LFC fans - how is Borini's hold-up play? He's quicker than Balo and depending on how Madrid attack, I wouldn't necessarily be comfortable with a false 9 (like Carragher's team), getting out of defence could be a problem that way and a striker could knock-down and link with Couthinho/Sterling, along with drawing out/disrupting defenders.

Oh don't you worry about us, you've problems of your own ;) Plenty.

I'd love to be able to come in here and rip into them and say they are going to be spanked by Madrid.

But really, we are so average ourselves at the moment I can't bring myself to do so. Hopefully Ronaldo cheers me up on wednesday.

Thought Wisdom did really well last night. He's coming along nicely now that he's found confidence in his passing (which he sorely lacked). Not sure if Di Maria was leggy or Wisdom had a good game but there were no nightmares from his side of the pitch. I wonder if WBA will try him at CB at some point. We could do with some CB training.

Mistimed out of desperation and amongst a sea of mayhem so difficult to see. A poor challenge but not petulant or malicious.
It's a two footed high kick, on a football pitch. It doesn't matter that it's not petulant or malicious, it's extremely dangerous and should have warranted a red card, let alone a penalty. Awful challenge.

Real are obviously big favourites but football is daft enough to spring up a surprise and plenty of "better" teams have left Anfield on a European night wondering what hit them.

The only thing to match the confidence on here of tomorrow's outcome was the confidence of what LvG and all the new signings were going to do to this league. ;)
