Somethings not right with him. Hasn’t been the same since that foot injury.

He has always been non existent in the air, but this 3-4-3 then exposes his next major issues, can't really defend in space, lacks mobility and pace. A super ball player but if he is not 100% sharp his defensive value is low.

Best ETH signing people said. He is important in build up but his basic defending was always dodgy.
I would rather see Maz there.

He wasn't great before the injury too.

I'm buying into the theory that Shaw covered for him a lot.

Looks like a midfielder that turned into a CB.

He's a liability since his injury. He won't make it here long term and needs moving while he has residual value.

Anyone remember how a number of folks on here considered him to be world-class and him being injured the reason for the poor results last season?

Had a shocker, he’s too slow and weak in the air to get a new contract so he’s going to have to be sold at some point. One of the few who could generate some funds and his wages aren’t sky high so sure there would be a few teams interested.

I thought 3 at the back would suit him but it really doesn't. Has been poor to average since that first season. Doesn't warrant the reputation he has.

He's been absolutely dreadful ever since we won the carabao cup in the first season. I would honestly move him on as he genuinely has made more game losing mistakes over the past 18 months than Maguire at his worst.

They seemed to ignore that we were also very bad when he played last season. He was usually one of the worst performing players in a lot of games too.

It's a voluntary handicap to play him.

Actively choosing to play a painfully slow, undersized defender who can't defend space, gets killed in wide areas, doesn't recognise his own limitations and has to be 'hidden' on every defensive set-piece is borderline suicidal.

He'd need to pass like a Xavi/Pirlo/Scholes combo to make it even a tiny bit close to worthwhile...and he doesn't. He's a solid progressive passer - far from elite - who slows the game down massively to do so. Compare his passing to Mazraoui's even. He gives the same line breakers and progression but at a far higher tempo.

Needs to be one of the first out the door this summer if we can get a buyer.

Need to face the truth that he’s been mainly awful since that Liverpool game (you know the one). Injuries have affected his sharpness too.

One of the Ajax mob that need to be sold over these next couple of windows.

Let's face it. He's been terrible this season. Should've stopped Woods goal as well.

His lack of mobility (and at present, complete lack of defensive nous) is a real problem in this system. So often it's the RCB and LCB that need to be comfortable at 1-on-1's in the transition if we have to drop off. He's not mobile enough either to take risks higher up the pitch to nick the ball from attackers when we lose it in the opposition's half, which is important if we want to squeeze up the pitch. Another one for me we should cash in on if we have the chance.

Needs to be benched, awful awful performance. His ability on the ball dont compensate how poor he looks at defending open spaces. Had a great first season and its been average to poor ever since. Wont be against selling him.

He doesn't inspire confidence regardless of the formation we play. He would be losing headers and speed duels if this was 4231 as well. Something is wrong with him.

What has happened to him? He was demon before the injury was it the season before last.

I hope that injury wasn’t the start of his decline

Been dogshit for ages now. Literally the only thing going for him at the moment is he is left footed.

A few years of watching Licha, and i still think he would make an excellent DMC....he is not a CB, has not the physical characteristics for it...not in this league at least.

I wouldn’t be to sad to see him dropped going forward and then replaced in the near future. He has sadly gone backwards after his injuries. Would be happy to keep him around as a squad player though.

It is not even just that he loses headers, most of the time he just won't contest them. Not even the wrong decision tactically, but it creates compromises and areas of weakness which the opposition can automatically target.

Gets exacerbated without Casemiro or a McT type who can do some of the aerial babysitting for him, but would be acceptable if his other defensive play was elite. It just isn't, and hasn't been for a long time if it every truly was.

With the system we are playing, Licha's ball progression has to be so much better. Not sure why he's become so timid in possession but he needs to sort it. And that third goal...:annoyed:

He was regularly finding Dalot with so much space but Dalot was doing nothing with it

Needs Shaw as regular competition

People forget that he had dodgy games before the injury in his first season against Brentford, City and Liverpool. I wasn’t buying the world class label that people were so fast to put on him. Just like with Antony, when we should have signed Kudus, we should have pushed harder for Timber rather than Martinez as Timber is more athletic. We need to stop signing slow defenders.

I can't get over that 3rd goal... Can't recall a defender so nonchalantly watch the ball go into the net

He can't handle the physical side of this league, he is targeted like for the first goal today.

Then again, most of the team seem like wimps, man handled every game physically.
