Shame we’re aren’t more like Brighton
This wasn’t my impression of the game.Lindelof handled it better.

Yeah seems like itHe's role this season is slightly different. He's being asked to push up alongside Case in possession and also defend like a DM. It means a wider area to cover and it would take more awareness from him. Lindelof handled it better.
Really? That would explain A LOT.He got an injury

Hoping it's him being initially tentative after the injury rather than lasting affects of the injury. Seems like he came off due to a yellow and precaution after what happened last season.Easily the worst half he’s put in in a Utd shirt and that following a rather ropey pre-season. Hope it’s not a second season syndrome and he clicks into top gear soon because we desperately need his 7/10 consistency at the back.
He got an injury
There’s literally a quote. BBC source. No reason to disbelieve it.Sure he did. He was shit, just accept it.

ten Hag wouldn't have taken him off at half time if he was just shit or on a yellow card. He trusts him and Martinez is one of our key players. It's quite clear something was bothering him as Lindelof and Maguire were sent out to warm up pretty early on. Both were ready in case he didn't make it to half time.Sure he did. He was shit, just accept it.
What are you on about hard man image?Getting sick of this guys fake hard man image. Use your brain you imbecile and stop picking up soft yellow cards.
Disagree, he's too wild in instances where he doesn't have to be.What are you on about hard man image?
Nothing to do with anything, he just had a poor half of football. It happens. You are going to have the odd shit game and pick up the odd card as a defender. Christ.
So he was wild in preseason. What about being outstanding for the majority of a proper season of football last year and at no point was his decision making problematic to us. Isn't that more relevant before we make accusations of being a fake or insinuating that his tackling is problematic?Disagree, he's too wild in instances where he doesn't have to be.
Should have been sent off v Arsenal too in pre season after an awful tackle.

The refs are on to Martinez and already started to crack down on his hard man image last season. He's a decent player bit needs to curb his unnecessary aggression like that dreadful tackle today that left him with a yellow with basically 90 minutes to play, in the modern game.So he was wild in preseason. You're not going to swim without getting wet out there if you're this type of defender. Cards and misjudging the odd tackle is going to be par for the course. I seem to remember Vidic getting the odd yellow, getting turned occasionally, mistiming one or two...
You'd have hated Roy Keane.Getting sick of this guys fake hard man image. Use your brain you imbecile and stop picking up soft yellow cards.
Keane was my favourite player. You'd have hated Roy Keane.
Then you'll know that he picked up various yellows/reds that you could class as unnecessary.Keane was my favourite player.
I think you're just making stuff up now as his disciplinary record was fine. This hard man image is something of your own creation. He's simply a competitive defender which he has to be because he's small and not the most athletic, he can't sit off letting people run him or back in, he needs to be proactive which means that yes, he does take some risks. The refs are on to Martinez and already started to crack down on his hard man image last season. His tackle pre season versus Arsenal too can't be ignored. He has started to play up to an image instead of boxing clever( if you excuse the mixed metaphor). I genuinely had noticed it last season too.I think you're just making stuff up now as his disciplinary record was fine. This hard man image is something of your own creation. He got a yellow today because he made a shite tackle. Simple piece of reffing and a poor bit of play. There isn't really any huge wider point to it except in your mind it seems.
Career ending injury ??Still a bit rusty after that career ending injury.
He'll come good.
Career ending injury ??
He struggles defending in space against superior athletes, which he probably didn’t see much in the Eredivisie but which he faces every week in the PL. Ten Hag’s deeper line last year played to his strengths, which are reading the game, getting tight to his man, and heroic box defending. But when forced to defend bigger spaces his athletic limitations become more apparent. He was only put in those situations on occasion last year (ie, when Salah ate him alive) but with a higher line it’ll happen more often. The difference in pace and power between him and Cunha was stark.
Agree. I think he'll get exposed often playing a higher line. Excellent on the ball but his defending is overrated on here.He struggles defending in space against superior athletes, which he probably didn’t see much in the Eredivisie but which he faces every week in the PL. He'd have hated every player pre-1990. the player of those days would regard the current players a bunch of soft pansiesYou'd have hated Roy Keane.
