Aren't you owned by a US billionaire family? Where's the "cultural aspect" in that?

Not necessarily aimed at you, but Utd fans saying that they're done with football because the likes of PSG and City are just becoming apathic because you're not the team you used to be on the field between 1992-2013 for over two decades. If you were still winning the PL and CL on a regular basis I'd doubt any of you would hold the same view, or at least becoming apathic about football.

I have been fed up with those Yankee leeches ever since they stepped foot in this club in May 2005,however my hate for them reached a new level when we replaced Ronaldo with Valencia, Obertan & Owen.

We won that double in 2008 thanks to Fergie's genius and certainly not letting league titles in 09, 11 & 13 blind how pissed off I am at then for buying this club and saddling us with debt.

Will things really be worse off than currently if he joined them?

I don’t see the big deal. Yes, he’s currently still a top2 player in the world but he’s at the tail end of his career. Maybe two more years before the drop off? And I don’t see us catching City this season. Maybe him going there and fecking up their wage structure (not that they have to worry about money) will do more damage long term. Hopefully falls out with De Bruyne and Sterling and them guys

That's how I see it.

It really won't make a difference to us, other than make the derby even more special.

City willing to offer 100m and Bernardo Silva, Gabriel Jesus and Eric García. Barça insist that they don´t look at a transfer and keep their position

Like someone above said it's just the fact that the greatest player of the modern era played for fecking City and not us

How much could Barcelona get if they tried to sell Gabriel Jesus immediately? If the offer was real, I would try to get Cancelo instead of the bad penalty taker.

Messi doesn´t want to know anything about Bartomeu´s statements.
Decision taken: He leaves
Bartomeu prefers to see him at PSG

Can Man City even comply with FFP if they have to pay a transfer fee for Messi? Or have we all accepted that FFP is just a ruse for Uefa to get bribed?

Some of you acting like the earth would fall if he signed for them. Messi or no Messi, we are not winning the league so why do you guys care so much?
City are a club that regularly compete for trophies and play great football. They will sign top players.

If real, what a slap in the face to those players.

If Messi stays, then the disarray in the City camp could be glorious going into the new season.

With Cancelo or Gabriel I think the offer is very good. Bernardo Silva, De Jong and Pjanic is a good midfield

I don't rate Gabriel at all but yeah, on paper it's a decent offer.

Yeah City are exempt from FFP punishment and would certainly not get a transfer ban like Chelsea did

Or he could not be at the tail end of his career, be sublime until he's 38 and gift City five years of silverware.

Even if it's just two years or if he doesn't win the CL over there, the fact that the GOAT wants to play for City is yikes enough for me.

Yeah, can't understand why folks care about the best player in the world signing for the rivals across the street.

I know others may feel differently but for me it comes down to the fact he joined an oil driven entity like City rather than a proper club with history.

Yes I appreciate those teams cannot afford a deal this enormous but then would rather he stayed loyal to Barca.

 - City offering Garcia, Silva and Jesus

KDB or Sterling is the minimum Barca should ask .

Pep was supposed to be a football romantic and he went there. People want to be successful quick and paid handsomely for it

Yeah that is very true but they were very smart in getting all of his buddies in place first

If Messi goes to City, I'm switching over to the Ronaldo camp on who is the greatest.

Messi should just buy Barcelona and run it however and whatever he wants. He’s rich enough to do so. He’s only a footballer so why does he care what goes off it and disrespect the incoming manager. Imagine if this rubs off to the rest of the squad. Great player but absolute shambles of a personality

Ole needs to tell Bruno get on the phone to your international team mate Ronnie and see if he fancies a return

I know we don’t have Messi to trade but can we have Bernardo ourselves? We’ll buy him outright

Wouldn't have to move house so ideal solution for him, maybe Mahrez might be the better option though

Please City, take Messi, we really don't need him and it would probably make us loose years in the progression of the club.

Cause he's leaving Barcelona after everyone has been goading him to move? Personally I've read several times that he's fed up with being smeared as the dictator of Barcelona and running things behind the scenes.

That's a stupid move if true. Trading several young high profile players which could each give the club well over 5 years at a high level for one ludicrously expensive ageing guy, no matter how great he is, is just asking for all sorts of squad rebuilding problems in just a few years.

Yep Man City have no history. Won the FA Cup in 1904 first team from Manchester to win a trophy, most times to score 100+ goals in a season (the first being 1926/27), largest ever attendance for a home game at a home ground in 1934 (beating the record previously held for 10 years since 1924 - also by Manchester City) , only team to get relegated with a positive goal record whilst also scoring the most goals scored in the league 1938. These are all from a long time ago. I think there is a word for a long time ago?? It must be like 'history'? But it can't be that can it? More upto date - until 1973 Man City had won as many trophies as Liverpool, up until mid 1980s Man City had accumulated more top flight points than United. But I guess your definition of history means the period between the 80s and about 8 years ago which coincided with the worst period in Man City's history in terms of winning things and Uniteds best period. Before that doesn't count and after that being dirty oil money.
You must have loved history at school if all your school taught was a very unique defined period of about 30 years
(oh yeah - and just for fun Man City's first UEFA European Trophy win - 1970 Barcelona's was 1979, but again - perhaps that was before history began?)

Havent been following this much since the prospect of him joining City is sickening.

So City will have to pay a transfer fee to close this? If i remember correctly, Messi claimed there was a clause stating that he'd be allowed to leave on a free transfer.

Awful deal for City. Sounds like Barca fanfiction.
Some Barcelona fans are beginning to see this as a Bartomeu strategy, to "force" Messi to leave, balance the accounts and even get a top player, although the offers look too good
