imagine the meltdowns, be 1000 times worser than the ones over ETH!
I'll right now state that if Southgate is our next manager, I'll not watch a minute of English football until I see the breaking news of his inevitable sacking.

But thankfully I see a less than 5% chance of this happening.

Please not Southgate. I'm no expert in the names mentioned, and I know this will never happen, but I want to see Zidane in the dugout. One of my favorite ever non-United players, with a ridiculous (if short) managerial record and who wouldn't tolerate players slacking off. I think it needs to be someone with a big personality to take the pressure and control the players who seems to have too much power.

What an exciting list. What about clubs where managers don’t have long in their contracts?
Not exactly inspiring.

End of this season you have the likes of Sean Dyche ( ), Arteta and Pep are also coming to the end of theirs, not that either of them are realistic.

If you stretch it to 2026 then a few more options open up, namely Inzaghi, Amorim, Silva, Frank, Alonso (though not really realistic as he's almost certainly Madrid bound). Nagelsmann too you'd imagine after the world cup.

I think United would only be tempted to splash out if they could convince either of Nagelsmann or Alonso, otherwise its going to have to be from that uninspiring pool of out of work managers.

Our biggest mistake post fergie choosing moyes is our cheap skate approach with managers by seemingly going for those that who are either had no club or had little left on their contracts, it makes no sense to scrimp on buying a manager put of their contract but then happy to spunk 80+ million on players like antony and maguire??

Just do whatever it takes to get Amorim, even if this seasons ends up being under an interim

Imagine if Ole's back for one year.... Fan base will explode again.

My choice would be Amorim (knowing that Xabi Alonso would not be interested either) or Nagelsman.

Stevie G did well at a sleeping giant. Took them from midtable in the SPL to the title within a few years against a juggernaut who had won the league 9 times in a row. The parallels between where United currently find themselves and where Rangers were prior to his appointment should not be overlooked. He should definitely be on the poll.
Didn't work for Lampard under similar circumstances though did it? ;)

If the carefully assembled management team are as elite as Ineos suggest, surely they will appoint someone that most of us have never heard of. Surely they have more insight and expertise than us mere fans who simply (used to) enjoy football and watch matches from various leagues.

That would be funny and ruin city’s plans. I have a mate who’s a city fan and he’s 100% sure Amorim is in the firing line to take over from pep. I said yes but he won’t wait if a bigger club comes in for him first then he leaves.

I don't want any former managers post Ferguson back but if a gun was put to my head Jose is the one I'd take.

I stress though I don't want him either.
I'd rather Ole than Jose, tbf. Especially if it is only for the rest of the season. But I agree, I don't want any of them.

If we believe that there are better names available next summer, then there is no reason to hurt ourselves long term by appointing someone now just because they happen to be available.
Definitely. But they have to be a bit firmer that it is the game changing manager than the time they had a long term interim before Ten Hag!

I'm sticking with my vote for Inzaghi, I can get behind Ruud till the summer.

Would be excited by somebody like Amorim or some of the other 'up and coming' coaches if not.

The idea that Ruud, Ole, Southgate are in the running is worrying though. I hope Ruud smashes it, but even if he does then I hope we don't go down that route again.

I mean he's taken Brentford as far as they realistically can go. They don't have the resources to push to being a European contender. Of course he'd consider the move.
I know, I'm laughing at the idea they even have to say he'd be up for it!

Get a manager who wants to play attacking football. And better to wait for the right man, than to just panic and settle for some random weirdo.

Some job the new manager's got. Start by getting rid of all the porcelain players we're paying millions and millions to every week.

But please, management... No Gareth Southgate. Please.

I’m actually worried that a certain someone called Southgate is available and a lot of sites are putting him as one of the favourites. That scares me.

I don't think it's that ridiculous. Why shouldn't it be possible that he is happy with the Brentford setup? Yes, they have limited resources, but everything there is well aligned for him and in this framework he can do as he likes. There is no guarantee that the chaos at United is tempting to him.

Because Brentford is a house built on the sand where they'll very soon be in a relegation battle and back at a championship ground near you in the next few seasons.

The only chance of landing Nagelsmann would be allowing him to be both club and international manager at the same time, which I simply cannot see happening.

Personally, I really like Iraola. His style of play is much better suited to a big team than the likes of Frank and McKenna.

So it's out of:

Xavi
Van Nistelrooy
Solksjaer
Eboue

Guess it's Xavi then, now that Tuchel has gone, and we dont have money for Nagelsmann, Alonso or Amorim.

I'd love to see who the INEOS members want as manager. Who wanted to keep ETH, who wanted Tuchel, who wants Xavi etc. Which cnut wants Southgate.

Could see Berrarda going for ETH and now Xavi. We should be going for the very best for the next 5 years. And then go down in descending order.

Can see ETH getting another top job soon.

That is no way to manage a football club. We need the best manager we can get. Not the cheapest. If the club don't agree, then we really are permanently doomed.
Absolutely. Ratcliffe could be going back on his word in only a few months. I remember when he was saying he wants the best in class in every department… let’s hope he proves it!

I don't know how to explain this. I wanted ETH gone but I also don't want any of the managers mentioned. Is this an equivalent of being depressed while supporting United these days?

This is a genuine question. If we get Xavi in, do we also think he would be the best player at the club?
