I hope its not xavi, we don't need to replace a one dimensional, poor tactician and stubborn manager with another. We at least need someone who learns from his mistakes, and plays progressive football.

Why? Euro just finished and qualifications for next big competition didn't even start yet.
This is right time for him to decide about future.
He did decide that he wants to do the World Cup, if he had wanted to go back to managing a club he wouldn't have signed the contract for that.

I hope we don’t go for a manager just because of their availability. Approach the best ones that are already in a club.

Xavi in his two seasons in barca finished with 88 points with a +60 GD and 85 points with a +35 GD. People here make it seem like he was ETH level
That bears as much weight as me saying ETH has the best Eredivisie record of all time over 100 games...Barcelona have regularly hit mid eighties and into the 90's in La Liga, it really does not mean a lot.
PL is, outside of the cheats, bloody competitive.

Exciting times. Just need to make sure they don't rush it and potentially stick with Ruud until the end of the season if need be. However well Ruud does, he cannot be given the job, and, under no circumstances, should it be given to a plonker named Gareth.

And who might that be?
When you drag on the inevitable and you make poor decisions by sacking the manager too late in the middle of the season your replacement options are a little limited, don't you think?

Ye but we’re not Barca. They have pure quality. Hansi flick is showing what can happen with a very talented young team and some quality coaching.

Why? Can he only coach one style? I would prefer Amorim.
It's just my feeling. I think he is a moany, stubborn, entitled guy who will not have a problem quiet-quitting if things don't go his way. I don't think he is personality-wise a good fit.

Obviously though I would get behind him with pleasure if he is appointed.

What is Edin Terzic doing now? Maybe not the favourite, but surprised his name isn’t mentioned more, especially when I see the long list in the beginning of this post.

It's a good day, huge relief. I convinced myself that Flick is just reaping what Xavi has sown.

Alonso is Madrid bounds. Amorim is City bounds. That leave us with only Inzaghi. Or roll on a dice with Hoeness?

He is available. And an "interesting" case. On one hand he had decent success, on the other Dortmund truly were a horrible team under his management.

Amorim is super interesting, win percentages above 70% and the heir apparent to Pep. Sneak him away INEOS.

Yeah, but if Van Nistelrooy has the remainder of the season that would clearly change things.
True. But honestly, if Xavi is being discussed right now it is surely because he is actually available (as in not in a job). If we have to wait until summer, there are a number of more qualified and/or more promising candidates. Inzaghi, Amorim for starters.

No thanks. Dortmund were really inconsistent under him. The CL run was impressive, but we need to improve our league performance first.

Get Joachim Low as interim manager for the rest of the season.

Amorim or Hoeneß to take over after.

It needs to be a big personality who can inspire the players and deal with the media. The opposite of Ten Hag.

You just know if Xavi comes in, then Pep will stick around for a few more years. Will see it as a new challenge to beat out the players he coached (Xavi/Arteta).

Well if they do give it to Nice Gareth at least we’d win the virtue signalling championship.

Forget the appointments INEOS have made thus far, this one will properly set the tone for exactly how they see us as a club, and what kind of football they want us to play. It's a huge moment.
Totally agree.

They bottled it over the summer so they have to get it right now, which is much harder given the available managers has shrunk.

What about Marco Rose from RB Leipzig? Surprised he’s not listed as an option.
Surely a decent manager, could be an outsider option. But also very settled in Leipzig now which is his hometown, so probably not easy to convince him as well

Talksport radio (I know) said Nagelsman would be interested in returning to club football...

One can dream.

I believe the manager we need for the next 9-12 months is different to the one, we'll need after that.

The objectives for the next manager must be:

- Restore some professional pride at the club - end the common, humiliating defeats that we face every other week since October 2021
- Rebuild the morale

Emery all the way for me, let's forget premier league title for a few years with the state eth has left us in and just focus on being a regular top 4 side for a few years which I can see him being able to do for us.

And I hope we don't go looking for another manager with the idea they will be with us for 10 to 20 years, we need to drop this destructive mindset
