Yes I forgot about him.
Last time we spend a lot was 19/20 season. 360 million euros. Most of it on garbage like Hazard and Jovic. So we should be able to spend at least 100-150 more this season.
But we are in a good position. Not desperate to pay whatever clubs want for their players.
I don't think United are desperate and paying Lille whatever they want, if that's what you're saying. If (as Ornstein says) they've decided he's a "generational talent" then they'll be in a position where they can sell him for at least double in 4-5 years time.
Also missing out on Yoro is much easier to swallow for Madrid than United. If he goes to United, Madrid are still likely to get him in his prime at some point. If he goes to Madrid, we'd have to wait until he's lost a yard of pace and touching 30.
If it fails, which is a genuine risk for any 18 year old who isn't a complete freak of nature like Messi or Ronaldo, then it fails. But I'd rather fail going for a generational talent than someone like Mason Mount or Antony.
Nico Williams. He looks amazing.
But at United he might end up like Antony.
United will still have flops, like any club. Hopefully a lot more success stories now with actual recruitment specialists in the door rather than simply letting the manager pick.
Nico Williams - I think we will have to be super kind and let Barcelona have him. Can't see us moving for another wide forward while Antony, Rashford and Sancho remain unsellable.
If they go for a young talented DM, hopefully we steal him from their clutches instead
